    My grandparents had one of those. The DVD player worked perfectly fine, but the VCR wasn't working well at all. It would eject tapes after only playing for like 5 or 6 seconds, and it would sometimes eat them. It's a very common problem with Funai-made VCRs like this one.

    Thanks for this video - very helpful - but when I hit "setup" - it is not allowing me to access DVD options - that is not highlighted and I cannot get to that to finalize the videos - what can I do????

    I bought one of these units for the VCR, as mine broke and as it didn't have the remote, it cost me o ly £2.50.
    Anyway even though it plays videos and the sounds is OK, the screen's like a snow storm and you can only see the picture if you press fast forward, which was so annoying, but as the DVD player works brilliantly and much better then my existing one, specially if you use the built in DVD's stop, the disc I'm watching starts playing exactly at the point you stopped it, which is brilliant, but I'm still looking for a remote for this particular unit, because I need one to tune it, as it has built in Freeview and wondering how much a remote is!

  • @rosemarypearman9303
    @rosemarypearman9303 Před 4 měsíci

    I put a tape in, then fast forwarded the tape to the end, then after rewinding it, I let it play to the end, so it would automatically rewind and then after it ejected itself, I played the tape and there was no snow storm!

    I bought this VCR player so I can capture with Hauppauge PVR. Your video makes it look like the VHS side of this player has really good video quality. I bought this item Like New and seller listed it as most likely not played much because everything was still wrapped up and it's in mint shape. Even came with original box. However it cost me a pretty penny. Around 327 usd after taxes. I own VHS players right now but have been dissatisfied with the video quality on them. I had a Panasonic that had great picture quality but when I opened it up one day to clean it ended up not working anymore. I even followed a cleaning guide and I have no idea why it died. And then I have a RCA and Sharp VCR play that both have so so video quality. The RCA is okay but the Sharp one looks a little washed out in the colors. I hope I notice an improvement in video quality with this. Also is there any real benefit to using s-video with VHS capture devices or is it pointless because VHS is an analog source. Every time I buy an electronic device that is listed Like New or was barely used they usually work flawlessly. I bought my Panasonic LX-900 Revision 1995 for around 313 including taxes off ebay years ago and it came with orignal box. That Laserdisc player is insane and performs great. Biggest problem I have with that LD Player is that for some odd reason it cuts off about 5-10 percent of the right side of screen. I do not know why Panasonic did this. If it's just a defect or not but the Panasonic LX-900 is still considered Panasonic's best Laserdisc player and the picture quality on it is pretty good.

      Most VCRs you need a remote for menu functions. For a Toshiba, you can find a universal remote in most stores which will be compatible.

    I want to use a unit like this to transfer VHS home videos via HDMI capture, my problem is every unit i've seen reformats the VCR tapes to fit new tvs (wide screen), cutting off the top and bottom, rather than leaving it full frame. Do you know if there's an option to leave the VCR in its intended viewing format?

      @@electrrics4902 no, i got lucky and found a sony unit with hdmi out at a flea market. Though it seems that every unit (that i've ever seen) that upscales to HD stretches the video to fit 1920 x 1080 instead of leaving it native, but i figured out that after you capture the footage you just stretch it back to normal in an editing program and it fixes it.

    I recently purchased a Samsung TV (model # CU7000U) and connected my Toshiba DVR620KU recorder, and while the DVD's play normally, unfortunately the Video tapes do not, as all I see when I try and play a VHS tape is a blue screen. Do you believe my problem is an incompatibility with this particular TV and the DVD/VCR recorder,? All the VCR function buttons work as intended (forward and rewind, play and eject), therefore can you suggest how I can get my Video tapes to play. Although I do intend to convert them to DVD's, but before then must make sure the Video player is fully functioning.

    • @pasttimetech
      @pasttimetech  Před rokem

      I am not sure. Your unit should be able to play VHS through HDMI. I have had other units (different brands/model) with HDMI, which still had to be connected via composite cable to view VHS, so try that.

      @@pasttimetech Many thanks for replying to my question that I have with your guidance now have resolved by carefully rereading the manual and clicking on many buttons. My only problem now is that I have a number of UK DVD's that refuse to play in this Toshiba CVR620UK, something about being the the wrong region, but unfortunately don't believe there is a fix for this.
