  • Best Portable Power For Vanlife | Is Jackery Explorer 1000 V2 Better Than The Explorer 1000?
    Click here to find out more about the Jackery Explorer 1000 V2: www.jackery.com?aff=316&
    Today I am unboxing and testing out the new Jackery Explorer 1000 V2 Portable Power Station and Solar Saga 200W Panel. Giving a common sense approach to how power works and also what the capabilities are all the while comparing it to a familiar favorite the Jackery Explorer 1000, which I have been using since late 2020. I was shocked to find out how much more efficient this one really is and you will be also. Their motto is stronger, faster and smaller and today I found out why!!

    I love Jackery! I have four of them. I started with an Explorer 240, added an Explorer 1500 with four 100W solar panels, next I added an Explorer 700 Plus and the little 100!
    I use my 100 every day for convenient charging of my phone and watch. When I’m at home I use the 240 to power a ring light and charge my phone at my craft station. All four go in my van when I travel along with the solar panels! I do need to contact Jackery about my 240. It hasn’t been working properly since my last trip.

    I have the same Jackery and a 300w smaller one and inspired by you guys complaining about the lack of a cover and someone’s suggestion on CZcams, I bought USB C Car Chargers for both Jackerys. I bought chargers that are short and just fill the opening and I can also use them to charge my phone, etc.
    Love your videos and “brain wrinkles” way of life and travel.
    I appreciate the cooking you’ve started up.
    Hi to Riley and Dee and your family. And of course, Tyson.

      I am going to look into a cover for the section after someone made a suggestion for a generic one they have on amazon... i wish for the price that companies would consider these things and i realize not everyone travels with theirs so they might not be exposed to moisture in the air as much.. but for us who are this would be helpful.

    I got a Grecel 1000W power station a couple of months ago. It has changed my life because I use a CPAP machine and I can now do off-grid camping. If I don't use my heated hose I can go a week with it. I can also just choose unserviced campsites and save a pile o-cash. We live in a great age for camping.

    I know a kitty that would agree with you 100% on the quality of packaging 👀😹 In fact, that cardboard piece you pulled out would make a great " kitty couch" like the ones that go for $15 at the pet store😃

    This sounds really attractive! My Bluetti 700w keeps running dry, especially if I want to use my power-hungry frige. 10 years of daily use? Winn! Flat top? Yes! Less than 25 lbs? Oh, yes, because I’m not as strong as I was at your age! 😂 Good display, too, and I like the orange cord. I do wish the charging port was on the front, because in a small space it can be hard to plug it in, even with a 1” ventilation space on the sides. Now, to save up that huge amount to get one-maybe in a year or two.

  • @facingthestrange

    OMG, love the orange cord. I’m gonna have to save my pennies to get this Jackery also.

      PS: I have a Jackery 300, my sister has a 500. In my PMC cargo minivan camper I have a House or auxiliary AGM battery connected to 120w on roof which has been fine for running a 12v fridge, interior lights, a marine ceiling fan, cook in my HLM while I drive, & recharging small battery banks. But I’d like to occasionally cook on my NuWave induction stove hob that can run on 600w, 900w, or 1300w (everything I make is fine at 600w lower power draw). I could replace the AGM battery with a Lithium battery, put in a larger inverter, & put in heavier gauge wire. Alternatively, I could just get a power station that is at least 800 (which is why I’m interested in the 1000v2), and keep my AGM battery set up which has plenty of life left. I like the flexibility of being able to bring a power station into Home Base if there is a power outage.

    I have two of the 200W SolarSaga panels. Note that the power cord that comes with the panel only plugs into one port. For the 1000 V2, you remove the adapter (the adapter works with other Jackery units) and plug in the first plug, The adapter just hangs there and doesn't do anything when plugged into the new Jackery 1000 v2.
    I was able to plug two Solar Saga panels into my Jackery and was seeing over 350W charging. I hope you're as happy with this as I am. I just got it for home backup power, but I like that it holds a charge and will be able to run a small fridge that I use when there are power failures..

      I am very excited about this one. I have been using it a bit more after filming this video to try out some other things to see how well it would work, and if it truly is more efficient and so far, I would definitely say it is hands-down, more efficient than the other model.

    Curious if you could charge it with your rooftop solar as you are going down the road?

    • @BunnyPlaysHere
      @BunnyPlaysHere  Před měsícem +4

      I will have to get a converter of some kind for the cords that I have coming in from the roof. Just because of the way that mine is set up so that will be something. I will be looking to do in the future. However, for now, I will be charging it using a DC which I will address a little bit more on an upcoming video as I get ready to repack my van.

    Need to use the app and enable the rapid charge mode. Then it aill fill up in an hour, but should be used sparingly for emergencies, it adds more wear on the battery. But what you showed in normal mode is plenty fast.

    Thank you thank you thank you! You answered so many questions that I had always had! Curious - do you still use your Bluetti? In other words, do you travel with more than one power station?

    • @BunnyPlaysHere
      @BunnyPlaysHere  Před měsícem +1

      I typically carry three or four power stations at any given time. I have different needs for different things and so I carry different sizes. I like to have a larger power station for things like my refrigerator and then also running my big items such as my kettle and my laptop and then I have a couple that are smaller that I carry with me for spot charging. I have had a lot of days where I haven’t been able to get solar or plug-in so I always overcompensate in way of power just in case I have bad weather so to answer your question yes, I still do that typically sits up on my shelf although I will be making some changes on this upcoming set of travels to accommodate a couple of other things, but it will be back in there probably on the next trip.

    • @BunnyPlaysHere
      @BunnyPlaysHere  Před měsícem +1

      This certainly will power a fridge... i am not sure about the television draw as different ones pull differing amounts... for example smaller tvs and rv tvs are very different when it comes to what they require... as for price currently at the time of this posting they are marked $1299 for the panel and the power station... i never add prices to videos because they change over time and i want to always have the most up to date info in videos and since that changes i instead provide a link to find the best pricing

    As a product designer and 20-year user experience pro I have these issues: The instructions for both items are way too thin. I know less is more, but nothing is nothing. The biggest problems are with the cord that connects the battery to the solar panels. The plug to the panel has a small notch and the hole is black plastic. Impossible to see the notch in the hole in bright daylight. MAKE NOTCH BIGGER. The stupidest thing Jackery does is provide the solar connection cord with the double connection end linked together. The solar panel won't charge in that "as-delivered" configuration. Instruction are no help.

    Do to the fact it was not shown, Is it safe to assume that the new 200w solar panel does NOT come with the carry case that the previous 200w panels came with?
    Any clarity on this?

      Thank you for clearing that up.
      Jackery makes great stuff but for $960 plus dollars on sale, It's kinda a let down they do not include a 12volt plug any longer as well as the solar panel does not come with a cover that they used to.
      I recently purchased this setup but feel a bit like for the price point these things should be included.
      Many thanks to you for making great and informative videos.
