    Nice explanation! Wanted te ask, if i am in a live situation with a band and i want to put my totally dry guitar sound to in1 for ex., post process it inside the DAW (guitar rig for example) and than route back in any of the channels of the x air edit, is this possible, and if yes, is there any way you can get rid of the dry unprocessed guitar sound from analog input 1, i mean the same thing you would do with an audio interface, turn off the direct monitoring and turn on the monitoring inside the daw, so this way you only hear the processed sound? Thnx in advance

    Thank you,
    I found a way to record an instrument upon a mix with direct monitoring in the phone of XR18
    The monitoring by cubase has a little latency time, so you can't use it.
    To have the sound of cubase and the sound of the instrument by the direct monitoring (with no latency), you must switch input channel 17/18 (aux) to USB

    Can you do multitrack recordings of the raw tracks and a live mix with the DSP processing independently of each other?

  • @VIDEOSwhatVIDEOS
    @VIDEOSwhatVIDEOS Před 4 lety +2

    Hey Warren (and anyone else that can help) my setup was exactly as you did yours when I recorded my 4 piece band on 9 tracks (8 & 9 where FOH left and right to see how the mix sounded within the XR18). When I got back into Cubase 10 to playback all of the tracks played much slower than recorded. As in, they were slower timing AND the pitch was dropped relative to the timing change (deeper and slower).
    I have researched online and there is a lot of confusion about why this occurs, some say it is a bug but I think it is a setting I have missed..
    Sample rate seems to be the main theory out there but I checked that the XR18 was sending 44.100khz and my Cubase project was also in 44.100khz. I did the playback through the XR18 out of the FOH speakers (17/18) and also had the same result later when using my Yamaha ASIO driver for the UR22 interface for playback (also set to 44.100khz).
    Have you, or anyone else got any idea what setting (or bug) I have missed? Is this a compatibility problem with XR18 & Cubase (how did your recordings playback?)
    I am using Cubase 10 pro on Win10.

      Hey, wow. I went away and double checked my settings and located the problem!
      I was going to delete my comment but I figure someone else might get the same problem I had. Not sure it is a default but I had the XR18 set to 48khz (not 44.1khz as I had thought). This setting is found in the "Settings" menu of X-Air app in the top right corner. Then in the "Audio/MIDI" tab and the first option "Clock Rate". Make sure this (either 48khz or 44.1khz) matches your Cubase project.
      Duh....

    Hello, Warren! I'm on PC and some people did complained that XR18 is very slow in multitracking USB tasks. They've wrote that it "glitches" or "pops" sometimes (obviously a buffer lag or kind of). Did you've experienced some of that? I'm thinking about playing some live sets using XR18 + a good notebook (and a tablet of course), so I'll be able to do any routing between analog gears and internal VST fx.
    Is it suitable for that or I just better to don't think about it and stick to something else?
    Also I plan to use it in home recordings as well. I have a big need of a multitrack USB sound interface so any analog devices can be connected and interconnected easily (without clumsy "hacks" that I use now with Audigy 2).
    P.S. I'm going to buy it but it's a "though decision" (although it's not a cow or a car). Not telling about money limits, I have a limited space so any unused devices are like burdens.

    Hey do you know how to get cubasis 3 on the iPad to work with the XR 18? Cubasis recognizes the XR 18, but will not load. I have tried using Audiobus and AUM, and am at the point, I don’t think it’s possible. Let me know if it is.

    Anybody experiences audio dropouts on PC? I have Win7, bought XR18 few days ago and struggling with a lot of dropouts. Even when playing video/audio from my PC (not talking about DAW). Firmware was updated, the new driver installed before this started to happen.

    • @warrenfassbinder358
      @warrenfassbinder358  Před 4 lety +1

      Hello KiR-3d, I haven't had any pops or slow downs and been able to make live recordings, I noticed that some usb chipsets cause these problems but I've had good results using the Intel based ones. To record live I set the XR18 to play back on channel 1&2 and this does not affect recording on channel 1&2, in Cubase I use the Control to control the output volume with the Mix knob. Try rolling back the driver. Do you still have the old driver? Let me know, also maybe we can do a remote session and I can take a look.
      Thank You
      Warren

      @@warrenfassbinder358 Thanks for answering! I've uninstalled the driver few times, tried different USB ports. IDK, maybe it's about my chipset... I have the modern motherboard (for AMD) with PCI slot (it was the decision for my Audigy2 with the drive module). I'll check the chipset name...
      My Win7 was installed with a kind of a hack because I use Ryzen 1800+ which is "not allowed" for Win7. Many people do this. Previously I've tried to update Behringer's Neutron firmware on this PC and it's failed. Their support couldn't help with this (all things was done properly, Zadig utility used and etc.).
      Today I've used _this_ XR18 on my friend's old laptop (Acer Aspire, 2-core Intel) and it worked fine - no dropouts. At least I know that it's not the XR18's fault :)

      @@KiR_3d It might be possible to upgrade to Win 10, get the Create Windows 10 installation media app and do a in place upgrade. Back up first. Ya your right could be the chip-set. I got a PCI usb for a AMD machine and that worked well, before going to a Intel Dell 990 i5. Hope it turns out well.

    • @KiR_3d
      @KiR_3d Před 4 lety

      @@warrenfassbinder358 No... No Win 10 :)) Untill they've turn it to users. I've installed some important programs and really don't want to install some other OS.
      Also I'm not sure (not 100% though) that I can back up with the current state. It's nativly impossible to work with USB support. It's cut on the installation procedure, so you can't enter anything to install as usual - it's their "protective" measure. So there is some program that "cheat" on that so I have the support. And then of course it works all fine... It will be a big frustration if I'll install Win10 and it will be giving the same problem on this machine.
      It's interesting... Can Audigy2 give some problems when not physically removed? I've turned it off in the Device Manager (as a possible solution) but it's the same. Can it's drivers conflict with X-Air drivers?
      What was your OS, your AMD CPU and the motherboard (or the chipset) when it was working fine with XR18?
