Restoration of an ikea knife from a friend who wanted to throw it, especially complained about the handle that was sticky. Now is his favorite knife ;) I hope you like it! Instagram: bunkerTools
😶😶 Tremendo!!!
I was looking at buying this knife from Ikea, now I know it is cool looking and how to upgrade the handle ! ( It is a cheap knife with a reasonable grade of steel )
Out of curiosity, how much would it cost if I actually paid for a service like this? I have almost the exact same Vorda knife but the smaller paring knife, with the rubber handle cracking. I love the knife and would like to keep using it, but couldn't find out how much it would cost to get that kind of service. In fact, I don't even know if I should get a quote from my local knife sharpening service or my local woodworking service 😂. Any pointers?
Probably a service of this type could cost much more than the price of the new knife, perhaps it would be better if you were encouraged to do the modification yourself!
@@bunkerTools I have exactly the same Knife and i use a much shallow angle, arround 10 degrees on each side, total 20. It´s has a good steel I can get a really sharp edge.
To sharpen properly, at the most only 10 degree angle. Your technique had far to much angle on it. You can get an edge to it but it won’t last or perform as long. You tube Japanese stone sharpening for vid. But great handle.
The handle was sticky because most likely he never washed the handle. I recently discovered that the rubber handles of a couple of my knives were sticky until it occurred to me to wash the handles thoroughly when I wash the blade. Give it a go, it will work. ☺✌
taki nóż nowy w Ikea kosztuje 10 euro. Facet włożył w niego pracę ( plus narzędzia i materiały) za minimum 100 euro. Brak sensu restauracji tego noża. Można było kupić nawet 10 nowych a czas i pracę poświęcić na zarobienie pieniędzy.

Beautiful work, well done. I love seeing consumer items being restored and refined like this.
Thank you very much!
I'm glad you liked it.

Vaya tela como te ha quedado el cuchillo compañero. Lo has dejado de lujo. Saludos.
Muchas gracias compañero!👍👍👍
What kind of wood is the handle made of? Is linen oil good for maple wood?
Brother what was the thickness of the handle which you had made? Can you tell me..
Hi bro 👋👋👋very good restoration knife 🔪 👍👍👍
Thank you very much bro! 😉👍
Nice job.
Thank you👍
Thanks for the video. What type of glue did you use? Was it stain at the or just oil? Thanks.
The wood glue is "titebond". It was only linseed oil. Thanks
Thanks. Have the same knife and the handle start to deteriorate.
I'm glad to know that it is usefull for you! Thanks 👍
wish IKEA would make them this good in the first place
hahaha 👏👏👏 it could be nice.. but.. leave bunkertools make his work.. 🤣🤣 Thanks for your comment bro!!
It's money. Mass manufacturing to a (low) price means corners need to be cut. Hand-refining tools costs a lot of money.
Is that a 14cm/5.5 inch? I would like to buy this for my lady this christmas. It looks like a great size for her :-) Thanks a lot!

Thank you 👍😉
Nice work.
But why sharpen it at such an angle?
Is the steel too soft to go for 30°?
Thank you very much dude! I am not a professional sharpener, I am simply sharpening as I think it will give a good result.
@@bunkerTools 30° was a mistake, should be 15°.
Whyever I made a mistake there.

I'd buy it even double price than new
Thanks
At which angle were you working with the whetstone?
Yeah that's a 30 angle, odd
@@fredynuts Too high for a chef's knife. He might use it to chop down stuff around the forest.
una pasada tio
Gracias Álex, ya lo veras un día en casa del dueño😀
👍
Where I'll get this knife? I need this one.
This is an Ikea knife, so you can buy it in Ikea shops.
@@bunkerTools I need this specifically
@@pranambhat7964 I'm sorry but this one is of one of my friends. But thank you for your interest😉
See you in the next one, you and your dog :)
How to take IKEA knife from 7€ to 60€ 😎

Thanks for the input, in this case the handle was sticky because the rubber was old, my friend could not remove it .. thanks for watching
