The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

These young men, if alive, would be between 82 to 87 years old. Many probably served in Vietnam. Bless their service.

Today is always an emotional day for me... as my dad is never far from my thoughts. He served in the United States Army in Korea. It was hard for him to talk about that time, but when he did he was get a far away look in his eyes, as if he was back in combat in Korea. It would tear me up inside as the tears flowed like rain. These men made the ultimate sacrifice to go into battle for you & me... to defend our freedom. Some came home disfigured, battered and torn physically and mentally for life, and some never came home at all. My father was one of lucky ones. He defied death, and by The Grace of God, he returned home. I know what a day like today means. I carry my dads honor...and all who served in my heart! ❤️
    Happy Memorial Day! 🕊~🌏~🕊

My father also served in Korea. Commanded Company K, 7th Cav. Fought some of the worst battles not just of the Korean War, but any conflict this country has seen, ever. As he would say, he has no idea how he survived. Like, learning years later he'd assaulted, with 37 men, a hill of 600 heavily fortified, dug in, fighting Chinese battalion. They killed 400, captured 192 and marched them off the hill in the dark. He had 15 men left. Yes, your dad, my dad, many dad's and those who did not make it out.. they did what this country asked of them so the rest of us could experience the freedom to be. Well done, for your father. Well done.

2:30 Since they didn't bother captioning the Latin part, here you go:
    _Gaudeamus igitur,_
    _Iuvenes dum sumus._ (Repeat)
    _Post jucundam juventutem,_
    _Post molestam senectutem,_
    _Nos habebit humus._ (Repeat)
    In English, that'd be:
    _So let us rejoice,_
    _While we are young._ (Repeat)
    _After cheerful youth,_
    _After bothersome old age,_
_The earth will have us._ (Repeat)
