Patrick De Smet is geboren in 1968 in Dendermonde. Er is duidelijk een groeiende belangstelling voor het werk van Patrick De Smet, gaande van muziek voor kleine bezettingen tot symfonische arrangementen o.a. Taba (saxofoonkwartet) werd dagelijks gebruikt als openingstune voor het radioprogramma 'Bruggen en Wegen' (Radio 3), slagwerk ensemble en solowerken, harmonie, filmmuziek,... Vele arrangementen die gespeeld werden op de 'Proms' werden geschreven door Patrick De Smet, alsook verscheidene arrangementen voor Lara Fabian.
Als drummer/percussionist heeft hij massa's podiums beklommen met heel wat internationaal befaamde artiesten, o.a.
