      The price of a secondhend dedicated GPU and cheap CPU is a more affordable way to get BETTER performance than these new APU builds. The only reason you want these is to make a super compact, very light gaming build.

    You can get away with even smaller case as there are some cases with external laptop style power supply & internal adapter included. Some of them even have slot for slim optical drive, so you can have a true "old school" console / emulation station. It is crazy how easy building "a console sized" gaming PC has become. Also... am I the only one waiting for those new AMD APUs to be used in Minisforum motherboards ?

    • @davefroman4700
      @davefroman4700 Před 6 měsíci +2

      This series of chips is going to be in high demand. HP and Dell are going to be all over it. As will the likes of Walmart and the entire global south. Which is good news to a bottom feeder in the market like me. I know I will be able to find one in 3-4 years for $100 somewhere. And the price of AM5 parts will come down a lot by then too.

    • @Sycaid
      @Sycaid Před 6 měsíci +1

      These are desktop APU's, so the likely hood of Minisforum or other MiniPC manufacturers in putting them in their little machines is highly unlikely, especially when they also have machines with the 780m iGPU available at more reasonable prices. A MiniPC with the 7840HS cpu is your best bang-for-your-buck and that isn't changing anytime soon. Maybe next year, but you're better off waiting for Zen5, laptop varients.

    at the moment I only use an APU and I don't feel like I'm missing anything. I play my game at 55FPS medium settings. and I play counterstrike just fine. There's an entire industry and market of people who DON'T play AAA games. for those people this is perfect. this is also perfect for internet cafes that want to let people play cs2 or Valorant. not everything has to be so high end. people have high end GPUs and still aren't the best at what they do. Intel and Nvidia have always left budget people behind.

      @masedaddy26 Před 6 měsíci

      @5GRobo doesn’t look so bad to me. I see you replying a lot that this is a waste, but could you really get that much performance out of a build with a gpu for the same price? Looks like this would be around 600 total and I feel like you could o my get a Ryzen 5 5000 series with a 6600xt for that and it doesn’t seem like that would be miles ahead of this. Take into account the form factor and everything and this seems pretty decent.

    • @pranze3484

      Dude, 6600xt is 2-3x faster. A ryzen 3600 would be plenty enough for it. And 16G ddr4 costs nothing.

      GN did this with a 12100F and a RX6600. Totally blows the 8700G out of the competition.(let alone the 8600G) At these prices it's only desirable for small systems and then you pay a premium for the ITX mainboard also. (about 70 dollars in my country)

    • @hblanksjukebox

      It was a one-two punch of AMD acquiring ATI and taking over the chipset market for their own CPUs, and Intel blocking them from making chipsets for anything newer than Core 2. Nvidia still technically makes IGPs, but only for ARM-based machines like the Switch or Jetson dev boards since they don't have an x86 license.
