- Dungeon Master sends the children northward to the town of Helix to attend a local dragon-banishment celebration. On the way they meet Merlin in his magnificentssky castle. The wizard offers to make Presto his apprentice, only if the young mage chooses to leave his friends and stay there for the rest of his life. But is Merlin's once-in-a-lifetime offer all that it appears?

60 secs in, and you know everything about the show, and have met all the characters.
The funny thing is that The Dungeon Master is just making up shit as he goes, just like in the actual game... xD
If ever there was a cartoon series to reboot, this would be it. Just imagine how good it would be in this post Lord or the Rings era.

It would be a lot better if in that reboot, they could add 'Requiem' to the episodes in it.
I'm more partial to a Pathfinder show myself. Imagine how broken both the characters and enemies would have to be to justify the villain's threat while staying true to the game! Insert joke about a skald raging an entire skeleton army summoned by a necromancy cleric, one about a summoner controlling a colossal eidolon, one about a gunslinger juggling guns to simultaneously reload and fire his blunderbusses, and another joke about a level 10 Magus dealing 200+ damage for every attack he makes (I have pathfinder players who actually do this).

I used to run home from school just to watch this .....it used to be on 1 day a week ,then after it Nightmare used to come on .....and then BLOCKBUSTERS :)

Oh no this party has no healers they will have to rest for ages after every violent encounter. On a positive note the costume design is well conceived.
I loved Dungeons and Dragons back in the 80's. I was still in high school when this series ran. I loved it, and could not get enough. I saw every episode.
They should make a 2018 version of this, I'd watch the hell out of it.

Maybe I've been ruined by modern movies with their back stories.
fox kids introduced this classic series to me but it did not feature any episode of the kids returning home. Then I downloaded the complete series and found out that the last episode never made it to tv. Fortunately the dubbing was available for that episode & it was revealed that the kids do make it to the home & venger becomes normal again & reconciles with his father the dungeon master.

Love the music they play at certain action scenes starting at 9:59. You hear it throughout all the shows. It was played in Spider-Man cartoon as well. Loved it. Used to look forward to this cartoon every Saturday as a 13 year old. It was great. Perfect voice casting. Always loved the into. "Never fear Ranger...Barbarian...Magician...Thief ... Cavalier and Acrobat and I'm Dungeon Master. LOL. Miss these cartoons they were great. Thank goodness for CZcams

Thank you so much for putting Dungeons and Dragons on CZcams!! At dismissal at my school, my teacher plays D&D! I wanted to see some more episodes, and I found this channel.
What a horrible dungeon master. You don't make a level 1 party fight Tiamat.
Oh man this is great if you imagine it as a some new DM's first time running a game back in the day. It fits so well, right down to him giving them pre rolled characters and giving the stuck up rich kid he doesn't like the sheet where he rolled up a Cavalier with no horse or weapon and only a shield to defend himself, while giving his best friend the ranger that never runs out of arrows.
Oh yeah, and 2 minutes into the first adventure, throwing what i presume is a level 1 party up against TIAMAT, QUEEN OF ALL EVIL DRAGONKIND.
Its funny..when I think back to when I was watching this.. I could have sworn it was a much better HQ cartoon.. almost as good as today's cartoons...but as we can all see...its poor and nothing like we remember it to be like. I'm just saying how our memory sometimes as a kid is more grand

what's wrong with it - the animation isn't poor, it is the same Japanese anime style art as The Transformers and Voltron (all produced by Toei Doga studios in Japan), and was superior to most cartoons produced at the time by American studios such as Hanna-Barbera & Filmation.
Keep in mind this was from 1982.
BX0207 compared to its contemporaries it was a HQ cartoon. It's the only 80's cartoon I know with a beginning, middle, and ending that felt very satisfying instead of a never ending giant toy commercial that lost my interest.

So here's my question: Did the portal that transported the 6 kids into this world only open once and the ride just continued and no 1 noticed that 6 kids disappeared, or did time in our world stop thus allowing the kids to just (if the last episode had been finished/aired) reappear on the ride again once they came home at the same time they left?
I think it past a few hours since it was night time and the park was already close the last esipode did air

Surprised at how many people have seen this in 2 years. And i disagree with a couple of people here as i think the show holds up well. Especially some of the other darker episodes kick in.
Plus i hope you DnD fans recognise the show is only releated to the boardgame and not a direct spin off

I don't know why people make shows and don't bring closure to the characters, for me TV brings characters to life, I love all life real and fantasy, I hope the kids make it to their world, not forever trapped in the dungeon, scary, it was the same as samurai jack, don't like this, as I wish to see them free

I dont think a kids cartoon has ever had such an evil villian as Venger and i dont think theres been one that evil since it last aired.
From a show standpoint this isn't that great, however it really does feel like an animated adaption of a D&D campaign.
