  • Continuing with the 6th video the series of "Harvard University First Year Move-In" (move-in day for incoming freshman students) from a couple of years ago. Aiman took his mom and his brother Fikri to visit W S Fong Auditorium, light lunch at Boylston Hall and then taking pictures in front of John Harvard statue in the Hahvad Yard.
Who even ‘pahks the cah in Hahvahd Yahd?’
No one actually from Boston, that’s for sure. So where did the phrase come from? Harvard had its own accent, the Globe explains, distinct from Boston’s, though similar in its lack of “r’’s. It was a mash-up of accents from New England prep schools, Greater Boston Irish-Americans, and Midwesterners.

We're publishing this video in order to give admitted students, parents and/or relatives some ideas on the move-in process for Harvard University first-year students. We wanted to publish these set of videos well before the move-in dates for this year's Class of 2027. It's little late but that's ok, maybe the videos will be useful for next year's Class of 2028.
First-year move-in for the Class of 2027 is scheduled for three dates. Your arrival date depends on whether you are participating in a pre-orientation program:
    August 22, 2023 (FOP participants)
August 24, 2023 (FAP, FIP, FUP, FYRE, and LIFE participants)
August 30, 2023 (students not participating in a pre-orientation program)
All first-year students live in Harvard Yard or very close to it in one of 17 freshman dorms: Apley Court, Canaday, Grays, Greenough, Hollis, Holworthy, Hurlbut, Lionel, Mower, Massachusetts Hall, Matthews, Pennypacker, Stoughton, Straus, Thayer, Weld, and Wigglesworth.
They eat the majority of meals in Annenberg Hall. This is a place of far-ranging conversations where you'll get to know fellow new students. The dorms are grouped into larger clusters called Yards (Crimson, Elm, Ivy and Oak).
    Move-In Day for Incoming Students:
Incoming first-year students will move to campus during the last two weeks of August. Your specific arrival date will depend on whether you choose to participate in a Pre-Orientation Program.
What to expect on move-in day:
Pick up your Harvard University ID card and room key
Vehicles unload in front of dorms, with a strict 20-minute time limit
Proctors and peer advising fellows will welcome you and your family to the dorm
Complimentary parking is available a 5-10 minute walk from the dorms so that parents and family members can return to help you get settled
Campus tours help you become familiar with campus
You may run errands, shop for dorm items, or share a meal with your family in the local area before saying goodbye
