The words that audiophiles use to describe sound always confuses me lol. “The 1408’s sound much more chocolatey on the highs, but they’re still a little salty. But in the mids is where you get the real meat. We’re talking beef, venison. No chicken. Lows are fantastic, just as on the other 14 series. Very deep, dark, and hit you like a Mack truck.”

It's kind of funny how he describes it. But Joshua Valour is better at explaining things, but still so confusing.
To be honest, professional audiophiles talk like they're just talking to other professional audiophiles. And all of those newcomers for this, they'll be confused what these CZcamsrs audiophiles are saying HAHAHA.

Honestly there's nothing Beyhers does better than the 990 pro 250ohm for an all rounder and for specifics your just better off with other brands unless you have a thing for extra trebel on an otherwise unremarkable set.

Tried 560S and K371 also plus several wireless gaming. Honestly, the DT 770 pro 80 ohm is great but does require amplification to sound its best. It's not night and day though. One of the mid-tier interfaces will drive these to near max capacity. I'm most curious about the 1990's.

      @@paradoxic1888
I'm actually getting rid of my 900 Pro X's and upgrading to the 1990's, simply because the 900's(and 700's) suffer from a veil-like filtered effect that's masking the clarity or audio. This isn't the case with the DT770(250) and 1990's. they sound crystal clear. Sure, the 900's may offer a bit more soundstage, and are a little more open, spacious, warmer and a tinge fuller since they are technically semi-open back Vs closed, but it all becomes irrelevant to me because of that slight clarity masking veil-effect. Maybe there's a way to improve this with EQ settings?
Ultimately, i think it's a toss up between the 770(250) & 900's. With the 1990's, they're even more open than the 900's, but with that crystal clear sound, stronger vocals and then some vs the DT770's. I'll take 8k treble spike. Balance pads plus proper EQ settings should mitigate the effect at least

Fantastic product review. Appreciate your "matter of fact", straight forward approach to the DT700 / 900 PRO X series. Wanted to upgrade from my Sennheiser's, both in closed and open
back models. Hadn't experienced Beyerdynamic's before so I purchased "both" of these to assess which is best for my voice over production needs. WOW. Amazed with what I had been missing out on with this manufacturer. You were absolutely, 100% correct in your review and evaluations. The DT 700 PRO is extremely precise in it's closed back, highly detailed field and is wonderful for vocal recording and tracking. The DT 900 PRO is "exactly the same" in sound quality, but feels like you just entered an amphitheater concert staging area with it's detailed, open wide sound stage. Amazing. As a result, keeping "both" for different applications. These Beyerdynamic audio headphones are incredible in build and sound quality applications. More comfortable and better performing than the of my Sennheiser's.
Thank you for your straight forward, honest evaluation. I certainly thought about purchasing the 1990's, but your honest evaluations let me know I am good with my purchase decision. Likewise, if anyone reviewing my comments has to make a purchase decision on either the DT700 or the DT900, get the DT900. You will never want to take them off your head. The open
back sound stage is not too loose or "crazy open" to where you cannot get the job done with your recording needs. The DT700's are truly a audiophile recording and tracking work horse.
Looking forward to more of your reviews. Thanks again. Subscribed + "All"

If you are playing shooters you will run into problems really identifying where the enemies exactly are. I've tested multiple HD 5XX and HD6XX series of Sennheiser and i found had the DT 700 / 900 Pro really fills the gap between de HD 5XX and HD6XX series. I find the DT's compared to the HD6XX abit more closer in your face / head but lacks mid range compared to Sennheiser. Trebble is abit more harsh then the HD Series but not to much. The base has abit more punch. Soundstage of the 900 is better then my HD660S which says allot. Still my HD 660S has a higher fidelity. I think i gonna keep the DT 700 because its has its own signature compared to the HD 660S and because its closed back which i don't have yet. Great review. I bought the 770 Pro 80 Ohms about 3 weeks ago thinking that Beyer would probably never update them and the 990 Pro. And then BOOM - they come up with the new 700 and 900 Pro X models. Ugh!
I love my 770s. I love the sub-bass presence when it's in the music and the hint of it when it's not in the music. And I also happen to like that peaky treble as it adds space and clarity. Personally, I think that treble will only be a problem if you listen to music at ear-deafening volumes. But at lower to moderately loud volumes, it's no problem at all. Just my opinion, of course.
Anyway, I love my 770 Pro 80 Ohms but now I'm wanting to upgrade to the 700s. But do I need to? And now, I'm thinking maybe the 900s might be good too. I use them only to listen to music. I guess I'll figure it out.

People should try them out with these as they add in the bass boost some might be missing from these without any EQ applied. It also tames some treble&cymbals being harsh, just adjust to preference if the stock EQ isn't to taste in all aspects.

Unfortunately, stores in my area doesn't allow me to test/demo them. After trying Sundara, 560s, Tygr 300R, HD6xx, HD650, Game One, HD58X, Philips X2HR and X3, definitely DT 900 Pro X are most versatile and best e-sport headphones.
After that 2nd comes Tygr 300R and Philips X3, 3rd comes 560s, those 4 mentioned have wall-hack level of directional audio in e-sport FPS games.
With DT 900 Pro X and Tygr 300R being the best while also being most versatile out of the bunch, despite being analytical also being entertaining, just not falling totally flat like 560s and Philips X3.
The Tygr 300R will go to my little sister as I got them at a good discount anyway.
I will be selling my 560S, as for mid presentation already own HD650 and Sundara and Philips X3 have at least a lot wider soundstage and are more detailed than 560s so will keep those.
If I would be mastering audio then I would had kept 560s, but for that would prefer speakers anyway or would just get something closed back like 700ProX or Grado.
