Albert the koala joey joins the Shute family! | Australian Reptile Park

- Three months ago, the Australian Reptile Park’s own “Koala Whisperer”, Life Sciences Manager Hayley Shute, took on the role of surrogate mother to the tiniest koala joey ever hand raised at the Park. Weighing a mere 200 grams when rescued, the adorable joey affectionately named “Albert”, is thriving. He has made remarkable progress under Hayley's dedicated care, now tipping the scales at a healthy 1kg and has found sanctuary with Hayley's family until he is strong enough to reunite with his mum, Elsa, and the other koalas at the Australian Reptile Park.

How lucky you and your human family are to have had such a cute new member. I am writing this 7 months after it was filmed so by now you no longer have Albert at home and hopefully he is fit and healthy and living a more independent life. The world is a much better place thanks to your family.

OMG, look how big Bertie is getting! And he looks just like his mummy, Elsa. Hayley, you raised the mum, and now youre raising the son! Thats two generations now! @@vuloira my parents are pretty elderly, too. My mum is 85 and my dad is 87. My dad was just recently diagnosed with Parkinson's, and is confined to bed. My mum is in good health, but does what she can to care for Dad. Because my dad served in the Navy for 21 years, he is eligible for help from the VA(Veterans Administration) I can no longer work, as I was run over by a car nearly 20 years ago, so I travel now. We must be of a similar age!
Going to Australia is the trip 9f a lifetime for me! I'm so excited. Also looking forward to coming to Europe in the summer. My mum thinks I'm so brave, going to all these places by myself. I dunno how brave I am, but I am revolting independent, lol! It's my generation. We learned to look after ourselves at a pretty young age! My parents worked, so we were alone for a few hours after school. If I waited for someone to go with me somewhere, I'd never get to go anywhere!
I'm planning on going to Ireland whilst I'm over for the summer. I'd like to go to Italy, too. Any suggestions on where to go?

I hope very much you can come to Italy. This summer I hosted a friend from Denver named Susan who is called Redheaded writing Hood on youtube, there are two shorts where we are together in Florence. She was my guest for a few days and we visited Turin and Florence. When you come to Italy I will host you and take you to visit the most beautiful places in Italy.
I will wait for you in Turin where the Winter Olympics were held in 2006.
