    I really do agree with the architecture part. I wanted to study interior design but because of the people around constantly telling me that I should go with architecture instead, I went with it… And now I find myself losing interest and confidence in my design abilities as I constantly fall into the small details that I love about interior design, but for architecture at uni it’s the bigger picture that’s more important. So moral of the story do what interests you and follow what your heart is telling you! 3:44

    im glad you mentioned the architecture thing. im 17, in a few months i will have to choose a university and take exams, and everyone keeps saying i should choose architecture so i can be more skilled later on. but architecture is just not for me, but i know for sure interior designing and decorating is what i love. i have very little time left to make a final decision, and i dont want to regret my choice later on. i would want to take courses about interior design and learn that way, but i feel like its a risky thing so im just very confused atp.

      You should always listen to yourself. There are so many possible ways your life could go and this is a very important decision, but your so young and if you end up in interior design, thinking omg that’s not the right fit for me, you could still choose sth different.
      But if you only listen to the others, you’ll never know what your dream would look like and you could end up thinking back and regretting not trying interior design. Yes you could end up regretting choosing interior design over architecture, but in my opinion that’s a better way than the other one because then you listened to yourself.
      Other people always think rationally and weigh all options, because it’s not their dream … it’s yours! Your life, your decisions and you will have to live with the outcome of the situation.
      Our life consists of emotional decisions, not rational ones and it will always be that way.
      I’m kind of in a similar situation and my father keeps telling me that interior design isn’t the right study, it should be architecture, and he thinks he knows more about it than me, because he has friends that are working in architecture.
      But I’m the one who’s obsessed with this area …
      I hope I could inspire you a bit and show you that your not alone, and I hope you’ll find your way and make the best decision for yourself

      Same happened to me I studied science in high school because i thought architecture was better than interior design, i ended up dropping architecture after 2 years because i felt so lost... now I study Interior Design in the University.
      I recommend you to look for Universities maybe outside of your country, there are plenty of university that offers online BA now and it's much more cheaper than US universities.
      Also don't feel pressure, sometimes taking time to think is the best, now I would have waited at least a year to make any decission... life changes a lot when you finish high school, good luck! :))

      This is really common and it happens to so many people, they feel the pressure from family that architecture is best, if it doesn’t interest you I would say don’t do it, it’s a though career and you need to have passion or you will suffer, if interior design is your passion I would still go for it, hope that helps

    So, basically, as an interior design, you are going to get projects or assignments about relocating some spaces, demolition, and changing the floor plans and concepts. That's what an interior designer does, am I right?
    As an interior decorator, you help the client in terms of selecting, "Let's say," final pieces or accessories " that will go with what the client wants. It doesn't include any floor plan or anything. Just select pieces of furniture for the client. Without demolition or changing any floor plans. Just choose the right furniture, that's it.
    Am I right about the two? Or I am completely wrong?

    • @aandreatru
      @aandreatru  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yes, you got it right :))) decorators do help with layout configuration, so this could be called as partial space planning but nothing that involves changing walls and structure, more like organizing how the furniture is placed in the rooms

    im currently in highschool and i despise math(im barely passing) but i rlly want to be an interior designer and ive heard that it requires a lot of math. basic geometry and allat is pretty fine with me but im not sure if thats all there is. however, im rlly good at drawing (almost considered going to an art uni but i realized it might make me hate the one thing i still like and passionately do). what intrigues me most is interior DECORATING and working with various textures but a lot of places require an entire interior design degree. is there a lot of math in ur opinion? and do u think someone that is almost failing math in highschool is able to study interior designing without growing hate for it half way through bc it perhaps requires too much math?

    Hello I have a question! If interior design isn't a course I can study can I study interior architect and than later transition to a interior designer? Will having a degree in interior architecture or just architect in general increase my chances of getting hired by a good company/firm even if I don't have a degree or license in interior design?

    • @aandreatru
      @aandreatru  Před rokem +3

      Great question, a degree in interior architecture will definitely be the closest to an interior design program, in fact some interior design programs like the one I studied focused very much in interior architecture as well. As for working, I have heard that architects sometimes work in interior design firms but it really depends on the company, some companies like to have in-house architects while others only hire them when they need them to collaborate on projects. Reality is that some times designers are not licensed to do certain parts of the job, and architects are, so we do work closely with them for some projects. Hope that answers your question✨

Watching this video helped me a lot. First of all, i didnt actually know that Interior Design and Interior Decorating were two different things, but that was fine because I love both of those things and will likely study both. I am also a huge architecture fan and am debating whether or not to do a masters in Architecture after my undergrad in Interior Design (many of our university's I.D students go on to master in Architecture).

    Hello ,idk if u might see this but I'm in my final year of high school and I want to do interior design but idk if I should go to university or apprenticeship, but my point is I'm 10th,11th,and 12th grade I'm specializing in architecture, and they are saying interior design is just a specialization but I want to focus solely on interior designing, what do u think is the best?

    • @aandreatru
      @aandreatru  Před rokem +1

      Hi, it really depends on what is available in your city. Some universities have Bachelors Degree in Interior Design, if you only want to do interior design I would recommend you find a program like this, but some cities don’t have those programs so the only option is to study architecture and then specialize in interior design. Keep in mind that architecture focuses more on structural elements (columns, roofs, beams) while interior designers are more about the materials, colors, fabrics, furniture, etc.

    • @aandreatru
      @aandreatru  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I think that depends where you live, in Canada is hard to get a job without formal education but other countries do not require it so it’s hard to say. Some people are self taught, and other have degrees so anything is possible if it works for you and for your circumstances :)

    • @aandreatru
      @aandreatru  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Hi there, this depends on each school so I wouldn’t be able to tell you which universities don’t have this requirement. However in my entry exam we also had to draw and at the time I also didn’t quite know very well, but I don’t think it’s a big thing to worry about, because normally that is just one part of the examen and they look at other requirements as well. Plus most programs will have classes where you will actually learn how to sketch/draw. Hope that helps✨
