arcadeheroes.com - It's been a little while since we had an arcade-to-console game port comparsion, so lets fix that with TMNT!
TMNT was released back in 2018 by Raw Thrills to arcades; It was exclusive for the biz until TMNT Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants came out on Nintendo Switch in April 2024. The Switch version adds two levels but there are subtle downgrades/changes on the graphics and sound. #tmnt #nintendoswitch switch #compare

It's the exact same game, but with new content added to it. But the only differences I've noticed compared to the arcade were that for example, in the arcade, you have the ability to pick up one of the explosive wooden boxes and collect the Turtle Power at the same time, while in the console port you can't do that. Not to mention, they had all of the voice actors like Seth Green, Sean Astin, Rob Paulsen, Greg Cipes, and Kevin Michael Richardson re-record all of their lines that were used in the arcade when they were archived from the Portal Power game, and I'd have to say probably because of the new levels and bosses that were added to it, but who knows? Raw Thrills also didn't include the feature to enter in your name after each level like in the arcade, and once you reach Shredder's lair, they took out the boss rematch before the Shredder battle where now you only defeat a handful of foot soldiers and then you defeat Shredder and the new Super Shredder boss after that. There's a couple more I could probably add, but that's all I've really noticed. But I will say it's still the same game that I've enjoyed playing in the arcade and I believe Raw Thrills added the new levels and bosses to give players a similar experience to the classic TMNT arcade console ports as those included additional content, as well. It was longer to get through the whole game on the Switch, while in the arcade it was only about 45 minutes.

Great game and great port. The only things I noticed were: there's 2 walls/1 window/several doors that have bigger debris that persists (in NYC level), more smoke from train (Sewers level), 1 window bigger debris and persist (TCRI level). But that's a far cry from the arcade ports in the 90's. :)

Having played this on Xbox Series X and PS5 I can say that most of the differences like the graphic downgrades and the long load times are not really console port issues but Switch issues. The game loads at roughly the same speed and I saw no real graphical difference.

I think the kung fu voice in the switch version is distracting and takes away from the game.

The VA is not the greatest and is a bit distracting, arcade still looks superior overall.
