In this video I share with you 3 baseball hitting drills that will help you be a better hitter and use more of your hips in your swing. A lot of young hitters lack hip rotation in their swing and just use their lower half inefficiently. These 3 hitting drills will really help with promoting better hip rotation and better use of the lower half in general. The first of the 3 baseball hitting drills is what I call the Bryce Harper Drill. Some coaches call it the Donkey Kick Hitting Drill. All you want to do for this hitting drill is to show the bottom of your foot to the pitcher. This is really going to make you start with your hips closed and you are really going to have to focus on opening them quickly to get a good swing. Bryce Harper does a great job with his hip rotation so mimicking him might not be a bad idea. The second of the 3 baseball hitting drills is what I call Skater Swings. The Skater Swings Hitting Drill is just when you hop side to side keeping your weight inside of your knees to promote good linear energy and then try to time your upper body with your lower body and take a good swing. This is a great hitting drill because it not only focuses on the linear aspect of the swing but also the hip rotation as you go from linear to rotational and hitting against the front leg. The third of the 3 baseball hitting drills is called The Happy Gilmore Hitting Drill. In this hitting drill we just do like Happy Gilmore does when hitting a golf ball. We are going to make sure to step behind and not in front so that our hips are closed when we start our swing. We really have to focus on not getting over our front leg on this one. If we do it correctly and hit against our front leg, that will help our hips come around and we'll feel alot of energy through the baseball. Try these 3 baseball hitting drills and let me know which one is your favorite in the comment section down below!

Great video and drills. What kind of drills can I use for timing? If any? When I face fast pitchers I seem to be late. I believe I really need help with timing my swing to hit the ball. When I do hit the ball I do make solid contact and usually hit toward right-center or left-center. Thanks!

Try practicing taking a non-stride hitting approach off a batting tee. take your reg stance and spread your stride enough but comfortable. practice turning your hips and swing through with a compact swing. Make sure when you non*stride to rotate your hips through to the left side leg. This hitting approach will keep your head and swing balanced. Will help you generate power keeping your hands and weight back and quicker to the ball! If you watch George Brett, Rod Carew, Tony Gwynn and Wade Boggs! How many batting titles? Also, if you become great with this non-stride technique you will hit those home runs!

When I started playing in the front yard we played with whiffle balls and tennis balls and by the time I started playing organized ball a fastball was nothing because we learned how to make that wiffle move so we learned how to concentrate on it. I never struck out all the way to Baberuth and high school and if it hadn't been for Vietnam I know I could have played in the majors. My key was concentration on the arm angle, see the ball, and meet the ball. At 28 years old I went to a park and was hitting 100 mph fastballs easily as kids watched in amazement. Not bragging just stating the facts.
