The main key for Mario was powerplays. Without them, he couldn't score high point totals.

@@bestleagues778 Not maybe. Mario never actually scored or was even on pace to score 150+ points in any season where the Penguins averaged less than five powerplays per game. His top seven highest points per game seasons of his career all came in seasons the Pens averaged over five pp per game. Mario only had eight seasons in his career of over five pp per game. The eighth such season was his final season at 40 years old where 15 of his 22 points came on the pp. The most he ever scored in a season that had less than five pp per game is 122 and the most he was ever on pace for is 144 points. As I said, the main key for Mario was powerplays. Wayne's five highest scoring seasons all came in seasons where the oilers had less than five pp per game, four of them came with less than four powerplays per game.
