- A memorial site to Harry Potter character Dobby the Elf has been saved after fears it was causing environmental issues.
The plot at Freshwater West beach in Wales is often visited by fans leaving hand painted rocks and socks at the location where Dobby died in the Deathly Hallows film.
However, concerns about high visitor numbers and pollution regarding the gifts left to the character, led to a survey on its possible relocation.
But a consultation by National Trust Wales, which manages the beach, concluded it can stay "in the immediate term".

We visited Pembroke this week. Spent a few hours walking and enjoying the Coast. I was so surprised to see alot of plastic bottle lids and other micro plastic in around the rock pool area. It was lovely to see Dobbys grave with all the pebbles, it puts Wales on the map. Such a beautiful beach.
For those of you on a bus or walking with just your right earbud in, you’ll need to switch buds for this video. Otherwise you just hear the ocean.
They should probably make a box that says "gifts for Dobby" to put this kind of objects.

They should recycle the stones for tourists. Like hauling stones from the site to a store, nearby, from where tourists can buy (money going to charity) a stone to be placed at the site. Also, instead of placing socks at the site, tourists should have the choice to donate money for an item of clothing which will be bought for homeless people. Finally, a museum where tourists can donate painted messages and other trinkets they want placed at the site. Instead of the trinkets and paint getting washed away and damaging the environment, they can be displayed in the museum.
