  • Here is a speech I gave before our last concert, in the grand Cathedral of Modena, Italy. I struggled with the Italian but it was so important to me to be accurately understood in these horrible times, that I made the effort. I was rewarded with a long, emotional ovation by the audience. Please listen and share.❤️🙏🏼

E' solo grazie alla presenza di persone/anime come quella di NOA che l'umanità non si è ancora estinta e che un giorno si riscatterà dal male voluto da pochi esseri senz'anima.

    Here's the speech:
    Dear friends
I stand before you today, broken hearted.
On oct 7th, a horrible and brutal attack was launched on my country by the jihadist organization, Hamas. They raped women , burned babies alive, they slaughtered and destroyed, they massacred indiscriminately, and rejoiced in their brutal acts of savagery. They murdered peace activists , Palestinian citizens of Israel, Bedouins, Christians , Jews and Muslims, young people dancing in a party, workers in the fields , some from Africa or Asia, they killed anyone in their path. They kidnapped 240 innocent people, 136 of which, including babies, are still held hostage in their dark tunnels. In fact, one such hostage, Ohad Benami, is the uncle of an Israeli medical student studying here in Modena, Shoval Abend. Shoval is here tonight.
The plight of the hostages and their families is horrible, the pain, worry, terror they feel is inconceivable. Everything must be done to secure their return to Israel in safety, today!
As if the massacre committed by Hamas on civilians in the south of Israel were not enough, at the same time thousands of missiles were shot onto Israeli soil. One such missile fell meters from the home of my parents, both Gil and I and everyone we know, were forced to run to bomb shelters many times. The bombing of Israel by Hamas has one objective: the destruction of the state of Israel and the killing of all her citizens, as is stated clearly in the charter of this murderous organization. Hezbollah too are firing missiles from Lebanon in the north, and The Houtis from Yemen are bombing all international traffic in the red sea. 1200 Israelis were murdered already and the numbers rise every day. Hundreds of thousand are now homeless and misplaced. Israel , a small country, population 9 million, of which 26% are Arab Israeli citizens who are in complete solidarity with the Jewish citizens of the country , is under attack from all sides. There is nobody in Israel who has not lost a family member, a friend, an acquaintance, a colleague. We are broken, bleeding, grieving.
Israel was dragged into a war she did not choose. Hamas, the death cult, seek to create as many martyrs as possible in keeping with their bloody philosophy. They abuse the rights of innocent children by brainwashing them to hate and kill from an early age, they abuse the rights of the Gazan people by hiding behind the most innocent and vulnerable, in schools, in hospitals, in mosques and under tall buildings. They showing no mercy for their own people, they wage a war of terror and cowardice! and the result? tens of thousands of innocent Gazans buried under the rubble and hundreds of thousands homeless! As we speak, Hamas is confiscating humanitarian aid that is being brought in from Israel to assist Gazan citizens, they are taking it for their terrorist warriors and stealing it from the mouths of mothers and children as they continue to hold our children hostage in their tunnels and rape the young women they have captured, all in the name of God, of course. The suffering is immense, the catastrophe is enormous.
I was slightly encouraged to see footage of Gazans in Han Younis daring to stand up against Hamas and call for a cease- fire, risking their lives in order to save their children’s lives! I salute these brave people!
The events of Oct 7th did not come about out of nothing. They are a direct result of the failure of both sides, and the international community and all its various institutions, to secure PEACE in the middle east. Peace Activists such as myself, have been warning against this for decades, often risking our careers and even our lives as we speak this truth.
In the absence of peace, you will have bloodshed, there is no middle ground.
Both sides missed endless opportunities to make peace, cowardly leadership betrayed the Israeli and Palestinian people time and time again and are doing so to this day! And when for a moment , there were brave, honest leaders who dared to stand before their people and say: enough! War is not the way! ..they were murdered in cold blood by extremists.
Yes, extremists, on both sides, do not want peace! They are not interested in compromise, they cherish death, not life! And extremists are everywhere. They threaten decent human values the world over , and no country or people are safe so long as their ideology is not condemned, so long as they are not pushed aside , and that will only happen when a NEW ideology is allowed to flourish! Extremism is marginalized when there is a much more attractive alternative available , when there is food, water and shelter, security, education, healthcare, culture, opportunities, enlightenment and prosperity..all the beautiful things human being know how to create and share, when they are NOT busy stealing, lying, abusing, and killing each other in the name of God!
As a woman, a mother and an artist, I feel betrayed on so many levels.
I feel betrayed by humanity that has learned nothing from history and seems to be on a suicide mission! I feel betrayed by the horrible government we have in Israel led by Benjamin Netanyahu with crazed messianic zealots, parties who were outlawed until recently , with corrupt , dishonest, ignorant and hollow members of parliament, all of them dangerous, that millions of Israelis have been protesting against for almost a year, and me personally, for many, many years. I am devastated by the bloodshed, the suffering, the killing and the violence, that I know could have been avoided. I am disgusted too, by the ridiculous “blame game”, which is nonsense because the responsibility lies with both sides. Yes, we should all empathize with those who suffer. But suffering alone does not forge righteousness or absolve from sin.
On top of it all, I am shocked and disappointed when I see the warped reactions around the world to the situation of both Israelis and Palestinians, taking sides stupidly, painting a complex, sensitive issue in black and white, raising ugly voices , uneducated , uninformed, shallow and dangerous, often purely antisemitic and racist, all drowning in a sea of fake news and propaganda, de-humanizing, and in effect, inciting to more and more violence, eternalizing the cycle of hatred and bloodshed. Truly, it is the ugliest face of humanity, the ugliest face of the digital revolution , the human family at its worse.
Let me say it clearly: the only legitimate position in this conflict in my opinion, is to share the Holy Land by implementing the two state solution. Not Palestine at the expense of Israel, not Israel at the expense of Palestine, but Israel and Palestine side by side. Peace in Jerusalem!
My enemies are those who oppose co-existence, respect and peace, in Israel, Palestine and around the world. My partners are those who support these values. Extremists, messianic zealots, jihadists, corrupt, evil, violent men and women..should not be tolerated anywhere, by anyone, not in the middle-east, not in Europe , Asia, America, Africa, not anywhere. And definitely not as leaders. All people should support moderate, rational, compassionate leadership that embraces diplomacy and compromise, for the sake of life. That is what we all deserve.
Every one of us, including all of you listening to me today, has a role to play.
The things you do, the energy you create, is important. You are important.
Seek the truth! Think carefully about the words you say , write, and share on media, and just as much, think about what you do NOT say. What more do we need than the “day of memory” to recall what happens, when good people remain silent in the face of evil?? The price of speaking is high, the price of silence is much higher.
From this house of God I call anyone who bears God within them, the God, who is in essence humanity, beauty, charity, compassion and love, and the Goddess of music who is pure light…to raise your voice, for peace.
I wish to thank the city of Modena and Mayor Gian Carlo Muzzarelli , the Bishop and all at the Duomo, the Fondazione di Modena and Isituzioni Bancarie and Modena Amoremio, for making my concert tonight possible. I thank all of you present, for choosing to accept our musical offering. Gil Dor and I wish to thank the Solis String Quartet, for the honor of standing on stage with them for so many years and once again tonight in this beautiful cathedral, blessed by the gorgeous music they make, and by the warmth of their friendship.
It is in times of darkness that we must stand together, as our faith in the light is tested.
As the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish wrote:
“As you think of others, far away,
    think of yourself and say,
If only I could be a candle in the dark,
I wish I were, a candle in the dark. “
    Thank you

I heard another speech that Noa gave more recently, which moved me profoundly. I looked for her and found this speech just now. I only listened for a moment because she is talking about atrocities of 7th October which I believe from very many reliable reports have been entirely discredited. I do not doubt that, like most people, she and I too, believed what was reported at the time. It is important to know that in the end there were absolutely no witnesses nor photographic evidence of those 'atrocities'.
