This just shows that Ruyi values someone who stands for what is right. She values truth and justice, those who stand up for others, and those who are truly appreciative for what they have or are given. Rongpei knows she is blessed by what Ruyi did for her by inviting her to be a maid in Yukin palace. She shows her gratitude in the absolute devotion through the years she is with Ruyi. We saw that devotion in Souxin as well before her marriage to Jiang Yubin. Rongpei was so close to her mistress that when Ruyi passed she followed her out of devotion I think. I think she felt she couldn't go on without Ruyi who had saved her and treated her more as a friend than as a lead gugu of her household. I would like to think that Ruyi and Rongpei were able to continue as friends after death and reincarnated together in an even closer relationship such as beloved sisters. I loved that Souxin could see that Rongpei was going to be good for Ruyi and that she was relieved that Ruyi had someone who would be completely devoted to her and protect her.
