    Whenever I put my R-Design XC90 into Dynamic mode, the handling and responsiveness are unbelievable. I can take a highway off-ramp at 60 mph with no lean or body roll at all with the 4 corner air suspension. My work commute is mostly 25 miles of open highway and my R-Design runs 75-80 mph effortlessly with no engine strain. I'm hoping to add the Polestar software upgrade by the end of this year, so that should improve the performance even more.

    I own the exact same v90 r design in the same bursting blue here in UK.
    R design is best styling.
    Great car.

    I'd select the R Design... it's cooler than the other trim levels. Although I have to say we also own a 2016 XC-90 R Design in the same blue and we love it!

    I just received my blue V90 T8 R-Design with Polestar last week. Love it!
    It's a shame that they don't make 21" tyres with high enough weight rating to carry the T8 model. So is 20" and air suspension, thus no factory lowering(R-design chassis). If I wanted the factory lowering, I'd have to settle for 19" wheels. Which looks all wrong on the R-design.
    But I enjoy the plush EV ride when driving to work.

    I would take the R design because I value handling. BUT, I would love to get the brown interior from the Inscription in the R design. The black interior of the R design just looks too bland.

      Frank Reid the Amber interior with natural wood is incredible. Wish you could get that in R Design.

    • @MotoManTV
      @MotoManTV  Před 7 lety +4

      I agree with you - not a fan of the black interior. In fact, spent a lot of time talking to the product manager for the 90 cluster of cars - Anders. GREAT guy. In fact, he dailies this same car but in black. Anyway, I asked him that if the car is order only, why could one NOT spec it with other interior options. He didn't have a great honest but was at least very honest: Manufacturing complexity v number of units that would be sold. I am still going to nag him on it . . . :)

    • @Crashjr86
      @Crashjr86 Před 7 lety

      I hear you, I want the regular Inscription but with the polestar tune and the 21inch fan alloys, and the full appearance package. But in this blue with the blonde leather. I suppose if you had enough money you can have one built the exact way you want it.

    • @brucec43
      @brucec43 Před 6 lety +1

      Agree. Many auto makers stupidly limit interior color choices to black on sporty themed versions thinking it matters to the buyer. They're just limiting their sales. And paying extra for real leather on all surfaces? This is a $60K car in T6 awd trim, and that's pushing it with a brand that historically doesn't have good resale value.

  • @nobbyclarke9166

    Rdesign. Mine arrives in 5 days!!

    The Rdesign makes it sporty and youthful.

    I would definitely go for the R Design. Volvos of the past (especially estates) have never looked this good. The R design essentially along with the newer volvos marks an end to an era of conservative and safe designs. I therefore could only have the R design as it looks incredible and is history in the making showing what Volvo can do. Also that blue colour is beautiful!

  • @NG-hw4ed
    @NG-hw4ed Před 7 lety

    They needed to offer ventilated/cooled seats in the R design. Omission of that options makes this trim hard to contemplate in Las Vegas climate.

      You can option the R-Design with almost every available package as the Inscription except for the leather luxury and massage ventilation front seats. That's because of the seat materials in the R-Design (leather and nubuck).

    • @anthonydigangi9877

    • @scottn940
      @scottn940 Před 6 lety

      Different strokes for different folks. I own both, and hands down, the R-Design sport seats smoke the Inscription's. Maybe it's the suede inserts or the bigger side bolsters, but they make an already great seat even better.

  • @echtogammut
    @echtogammut Před 7 lety

    I love the wood and don't really like carbon fiber interiors unless it's in a sports car. However, the seats in the new Volvos are a step back from the outgoing model so if the R Design seats are better and the handling is better, I value seats and dynamics over open pore wood.

    • @scottn940
      @scottn940 Před 6 lety

  • @brucec43
    @brucec43 Před 7 lety

    R design wins for exterior design, the interior style changes aren't a plus. No doubt, R design would be the only choice in a wagon due to the stiffer steel suspension. T5 fwd due to being in Florida and Georgia and the $6,000 premium for T6/awd.

  • @brucec43
    @brucec43 Před 6 lety +1

    The vaunted infotainment system in this series of Volvos has been a major source of problems and resulted in the XC90 being one of CR's least reliable cars for 2017. One test drive and I knew it would be inconvenient, but it also seems to be unreliable.

    MM, you stated that the V90 is the same to the "D" pillar of the S90. As you pointed, wasn't that really the "C" pillar (third pillar back)? The "D" pillar would be the fourth one which is in the rear of this car. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
    Otherwise, hope all is well with you and your Acura "lady friend" who you want to get a V90. :-)

    • @MotoManTV

      Hey Howard . . . Perhaps I was so excited about the V90 Redesign being on offer but I did indeed say 'B' pillar . . . Thanks for the kind words, she is doing well - we were driving yesterday and she thought she would be funny by pointing out a 90s era Buick Roadmaster Wagon and saying 'maybe that's what I should get' - now, that's my new goal:)

    • @howardsalsitzj.d.7818
      @howardsalsitzj.d.7818 Před 7 lety

      MM, me being an American Iron type of car guy, gas mileage excluded, a restored 90's Buick Roadmaster Wagon with the clamshell back door/gate, would be great. Make sure to update the powertrain with a new "crate" Chevy big block. It might even bolt right in.
      However, do warn the young lady that it is akin to driving a hot-rodded Winnebago motor home!

    your video is disorganized and with nothing linear information, it is a great effort for me to find out if you look at a momentum, inscription, D5, T6, T8 etc ... it is very different from the German channels where they are organized and have a chronological order of shows as things, if down up, back and forth, show all 360 of the car before in the car, and you go in and out all the time, it seems like a sexual act.

  • @brucec43
    @brucec43 Před 7 lety

    Volvo hates selling Americans wagons. Why? Because to get one of these you have to order it at MSRP, then there is no loyalty rebate, so the real-world price works out to perhaps $6,000 more than the identical S90 sedan. That is pure depreciation on the back end. S90's were routinely $5K off MSRP in 2017.

    • @satnitcboy
      @satnitcboy Před 7 lety

      They don't want to ship them over here, have them sit on the lot all year, then mark them down at end of model year. They're answering the market demand. Shame, because I like the wagon better. ON the upside, order one and you'll not likely see another one like it.

    • @brucec43
      @brucec43 Před 6 lety

      Actually, when they have R design V60's on lots, they don't last long. I have watched my local dealers waiting for them to come in. They had the passion red my wife wanted, I saw it, called her, drove home, and the next day...poof..gone. Now that they're an older design, they sit a little longer. But not when they first came out. I had to get an S60 R design instead because I had to drive 4 hours to get to a dealer that had a V60 R design. Volvo's problem is importing mundane T5 fwd versions with no sport package, usually in white, and wondering why they don't sell. They don't sell because they're $40,000 fwd so-so handling cars that depreciate like crazy. The R designs are more special cars and do better and I have tried to buy a used one for years now w/o success. Can't find any within a half day's drive. It's a product and option mix problem. A wagon is not the same as a sport wagon. Might as well pick up a VW Golf wagen for $28,000 if all you want is basic transportation.
