I absolutely adore that gramophone robot, very cool design, and the music choice for this couldn't have been better. A very fun animation, indeed.
I am amazed by the scientific marvel that is this robot...and yet equally confused by the lightbulbot.

That was a really cute movie.
I remember in the late 90's or early 2000's the local PBS channel would play a CGI of some kind of living instruments and how perfectly in synch they were playing drums,bells,guitars..I mean it was state of the art time fillers. Things have changed..
Really enjoyed this animation, great music, sounds and nice story :D great job!
Sometimes CGI video's are scary but this one cool.
Record was spinning the wrong way for the tone arm. :) Loved it.
Except for the high shots... then it was spinning the opposite direction.
I also noticed a screw going in c-clockwise.
Music, light and dance are essential.

And they lived happily ever after, the end.
I'm a purist. Even with this fantasy piece I still want screws that righty tighty and clockwise record players and phonograph players needles trailing in the groove.
But that's just me.
Honestly, a dancing phonograph would be skipping all over the place. And theres no tube sound. Tube based amplifiers have a distinct sound compared to what we have now. Even when its put through phones. At least that i can tell.
Yes, particularly when it is clear to see at 2:41 that the threads on the screw are setup for righty tighty. But yet the screw is turning lefty and still being threaded into the hole.
Jensen...maybe the wrong way is the right way...we are watching a dancing record player
@@deevnn You'll find this in most CG galleries. People who never seen a real record player but get the jist of it. It's just the wrong jist.
You beat me to it. I saw all of that but also saw the record actually turning both ways-one way on the close-up when you can see the needle is not in the grooves and the other way on the longer shot. But, WTH, it WAS a fantasy!
At 5:50 its the beggining of my favorite part

Very cute & enjoyable. Just one thing - the gramophone pickup is over the wrong side and the stylus would damage the record.

The gramophon-headed robot, he's a little bit like me. Only records and turntables in my mind.

Hi, I'm Soren Bendt the artist who made this shortfilm. It took me a year to make Hum. Didn't really do much else than working on it. Only records and turntables in my head too. Best.
If it had stopped at 5:50, it would have been very dramatic and controversial. Or maybe I was just expecting something depressing

What music? It was noise
What a shame...the vinyl record is spinning the wrong way. It'll gouge at every bump. They turn the other direction, dragging along the grooves rather than digging into the grooves in real life. AND the screw turns opposite the direction of it's threads. Did a person with zero contact with physical reality create this video graphic?
Hi I'm the creator Soren Bendt and I can confirm that when I made this I was in zero contact with physical reality. It was lack of research and practical knowledge dosed with lack of sleep which probably make me eff that one up at the animation stage. Hope you could enjoy the short anyways!
