“Unity asset store Jada Pickett Smith” had me spray my coffee out of my nose.
I laughed so hard my jaw almost locked.
It's hilarious because the skull spider thing 13:23 IS a unity store asset.
she is a character creator 4 model that's why she is more detailed that everything else. it automatically removes the polygons under the clothes that are not visible for optimization if you choose it. that hair style is one way you can tell. it was there in hi on life too. and the other games model were from CC3. but i guess he did not get i-clone for the animations
i played many an adult game with these models so yes it pretty much is cc4
@@Boomslayer19lol unashamed coomer
@@Marac1agotta respect it hahahhaa
[Sarcasm] It's always great when the asset flips start pulling in stuff from multiple vendors.
i was curious do you think they actually bought the software or do you think its a cracked version? i think its cracked.
Some could argue that Selene is actually First person survival horror because it's you, the player, who needs to survive playing it
I like how they just used the stock Character Creator 4 character that comes with the software as the main character changed the default clothes and called it at day. This game should be called "Camellias Default Nightmare".
Also there's no way they didn't use fiverr for "voice actors".
I like how Selene and Olivia run from that first cultist like there completely helpless only for it to be followed by Selene effortlessly breaking necks and taking out a load of armed cultists and Olivia takes on an army of monsters but that first guy when there together was too much to handle.
Exactly like Tomb Raider, perfectly on brand.
It's the Ninja Badass to Mook ratio, one ninja is badass, a hundred ninja are mook level cannon fodder.

1:26 No, Gman, you have a blessing. A blessing of loving the thrill of dumpster diving.

That was legitimately entertaining to watch, even if it was just to see Gman suffer.
Gman's commentary and editing style makes these awful games genuinely entertaining.
Suffer like G did.
I want to like your answer, but '404' is just the perfect number of likes.
GmanDies
For those wondering, here are the titles Gman mentions at the end of the video that are on Steam:
-The Tartarus Key
-Alisa - (this one is pretty good, but make sure to try the demo first and carefully set up your controls when using a game pad).
-Song of Horror
-Lost in Vivo
Thank you. I didnt fully catch what he said when he said alisa. gonna go check them all out now
Nearly choked on my beverage when you were taking about the giant toilets. Sounded like even you had to stifle a laugh. Good stuff bud, thanks for that.
Yeah, that post-Chipotle toilet was the most realistic thing in the game.
It uses text to speech? Damn it's really well made, I could have sworn is was genuine bad actress delivery.
That's the general experience with AI created content. It is sufficient at replacing generic, bad quality content.
Carlos was voiced by Morgan Freeman though 😂
AI voices are getting scarily good. Honestly if the dev cared a bit more they could've spent more time messing around with the parameters to actually get the speech to sound right but obviously that's the least of the game's problems
Those AI synthesis videos of Dr. Breen from Half-Life, David Attenborough, or Joe Rogan all sound like the real people. They even get the pauses and inflections.
My thoughts as well, compared to stuff from 5-10 years ago this doesn't sound too bad.
I feel like you could make a horror game with text-to-speech voice acting creepy. Either do it in a David Lynch "everything is just weird" way, or use it for certain characters to make them seem off.
Maybe some indie horror games have done it.
@@lucascoval828 I'm pretty sure Faith uses a TTS program for voice lines.

This would require a level of thought and creativity that seems to be beyond whoever... """""designed""""" these Unbearable games.
Weve entered a new era of gman playing weird ass dumpster dive horror games and Im all for it.
New Era? I don't think we ever left 😂
Easy to criticize when you've never done or will do anything creative with your life 🤷♂
@@ashleywilkonson386You're really defending these Steam Greenlight Sh*tfests that are made out of stolen assets 😭?
@@ashleywilkonson386don’t tell me you worked on this game 💀💀💀💀💀
Those are his best videos tbh. I mean it's cool that the latest boomer shooter he plays turns out to be good but that's to be expected for many of these games while you never know what you are getting with these janky game reviews. I also wouldn't want to play them for hours so just watching a compilation of these weird moments works better.
To the dev, don't stop. keep working on it, but maybe take the games down for a while and work on just one of them at a time polish it up enough to properly sell it as early access, and keep working on that one project, two projects at a time is too much and you will get nether to a sellable state.
I'm working on my first game for more that 2 years. Unreal 4, only free assets (each month they give 4 payed for free, so there is that) and i make the main char voice, and have 2 friends do the others. It's slow, but i'm gonna get it at least playable and fun for it's 3 hours of gameplay ahahahah
One of your funniest videos to date. Thanks man. It is 2AM and you've made my mood 100 times better.
I remember talking to the developer on reddit about Selene’s model. Everyone was warning him to change her appearance, because she looked like Scarlett Johansson.
Btw, I think only one dude from Mexico, is making these games.
The giant toilets bit made me absolutely choke laughing, and that was _before_ Gman's commentary on them happened 🤣
The best part in any Gman video is to hear when Gman breaks character and can't hold his laughter
Yakuza quicksteps in survival horror games have to be a necessity from now on lol
Give Jill the Komaki Dodge Shot you cowards!

@@Comkill117 Give Chris Tiger Drop but call it Boulder Drop
There's a line in the notorious House of the Dead 2's voiceover where a nearly-killed bystander, confronted with a zombie apocalypse, says "what's happened to this city?" in a tone of voice that suggests he's unhappy with the organisation of a local farmer's market. That's the vibe that the title "Selene's Unbearable Night" gives me.
I didn't know I needed this. Thank you for the endless content.
The cover of Unbearable seemed kind of familiar, so I checked a few of my libraries and to my dread I had somehow picked this game up in a bundle or when it was given away for free on itch.
The run animation at 13:35...
It's up there with Gabe Logan's disco hips in Syphon Filter.
That dead screen is realistic, cause you would never actually see your own kill cam or your death animation! 😂

I love the title. The unbearable night, like this entire game just took place on a really weird Saturday night.
The Main Character is almost the standard character that comes with an 3D software called Iclone 8. Even the hair is the same. All other human characters in this game are also from Iclone 7 / 8 and some are adjusted from Character Creator 3 and 4 (from Reallusion).
14:45 - the problem is that I'm completely unsure if the game actually HAS dancing Ricardo Milos footage or if this is just a joke.
The baby spider head thing is so funny. Especially because you mentioned Sid’s toys.
We’ve got a person locally out here who went to the dark side, harder drugs. Sometimes the joke gets brought up that they look just like that same spider baby.
Ah.
So sick seeing the editing progress over the years, great vid as always
I think there are some nuggets of gold in this game. For starters some of the enemy designs look good and creepy.
It does seem like this was a passion project. If the game got some slightly better coders to revamp the mechanics then it could be just fine
Oh and get some voice actors too and ditch the text to speech. Even BAD voice acting is better to listen to than text to speech, which the first couple of Resident Evil games are proof of
The exterior AC inside the house killed me hahaha
Editing here is absolutely on point
"The Blackest Eyes, the Devils eyes." Nice Halloween (1978) reference.
This was so much fun to watch, love it when Gman does reviews on these "attempts" on creating a game with Gman's comentary xD
The green thing with spikes for hands looks like a hunter from RE had a baby with The Hulk.
Selene's night actually looks well. sure, it's janky and its homages are more like rip-offs, but whoever made it definitely loves this genre and tried to create something. hope they'll improve with their next games. (they surely did improve after unbearable)
Selene does have the cake.
The game asking you if you’re sure you want to play it is fucking hilarious! 😂
And I’m pretty sure he regretted it 😂
6:18 LMAO 🤣
Btw, the title of this video had me in stitches after just a couple minutes. Absolutely hilarious.
I love when a games plot can be summed up as taking Jenkum from a Mexican chief with the voice of Dollar Tree Morgan Freeman.
1:52 that made me laugh out loud
This actually seems like some level of effort was actually put into the game, but the developer seems to be new to game development and is trying to punch way above his weight.
@18:41 to quote Calculon from Futurama: "That was so terrible, I think you gave me cancer!"
The random samurai sword at the end!! Same thing happened in The Hotel, another fixed cam survival horror game on Steam
"Close the F****** door!" it got me so good lmao
I was just thinking that baby head spider thing looked like the one Sid made.
It's kind of refreshing to see the monsters just doing human-like martial arts trying to KO Selene and Olivia through blunt force. Also, it's insane how fast they can both dodge. They should consider competing in contact sports.
The subway tunnel is 100% an asset flip, the same exact map was used in another indie horror title called Connection Haunted a couple of years ago (albeit with a low poly look)
5:59 now Will Smith will visit Australia
This was good review and funny as hell. Few times almost totally burst to laugh and it's middle of a night and gf is already sleeping 😀

i disagree calling this lazy and an asset flip, it's clearly made by a person who's just got into game development and has deep love for the genre but has limited resources.
It's rough around the edges but it's very clearly made with love

For anyone wondering, the indie games mentioned near the end are; Lost in Tartarus, Alisa, Song of Horror and Lost in Vivo. 👍

The new ending patrons sequence is pretty sweet 👌👌

That cyberpunk theme sounds like the original put through a filter to remove detail and fidelity.
"unity asset store jada pinkett smith" had me fucking rolling man
With the title and intro, I was expecting this to be about a series of indie games with Resident Evil inspired concepts. Rather than a full review of two poorly made indie games.
None the less, I did enjoy the commentary and overview.
I also appreciated the quick list of games to check out. A couple of which I happen to have on my list already.
On a smaller note, I somehow misheard you say "Katamari 2" In reality you actually said "encounter from RE2"
hope to keep seeing ggman play more games ill never touch or know about
Maybe the goal is to be horrifying in more ways than one?
I would love to know how much these kinds of games make. They keep popping up but we rarely ever see people playing them.
The reason why the mirror looks like a television it's because the mirror seems to be a plane put on the wall with a render texture on it (in case you don't know what that is, well it's a texture that renders what a camera sees. So basically there is a camera in front of the plane, and the texture of the plane renders what the camera sees). The reason why you can't see the monster it's because the monster game object has a layer, and you can set a camera to not see that specific layer, in this case the camera behind the main character.
@8:33 ah yes the correct way shooting a bow, pull pack and load the arrow haha
Unexpected but amazing video here's to another banger 👏
Almost spit my drink out during the PS2 body bit. LOL
Main issue is the scale of the game was too big for an indy. Too many gameplay elements, too many enemies, mechanics, locations. Even if they flipped assets the devs probably spent months and years on this. A tighter more polished game would have made great RE clone with investing the same effort they put into this huge scale.
The fart explosion gets me everytime 😂
Cool video! I'm still waiting on that pie baking video

When it comes to 'Resident Evil clones', none have come closer than Daymare 1999 - it's love letter to the old school survival horror games, not just RE but also flirting with Silent Hill at times. Plus it stars late Paul Haddad (the original Leon Kennedy). I believe the prequel was just released, I need to give it a spin.
@@dawsonages9204yup and man was it something lmao
@@dawsonages9204Oh come on... It's not exactly terrible, it's just extemely unpolished. I actually have high hopes for the second game and hope they'll fix at least the most aggravating flaws of the first one.
They had some good ideas and good spirit after all.
@@dawsonages9204 I don't know, I really liked it, everything apart the one section that is a homage to RE6 near the end. Then again, even that kind of fits to the whole 'paying homage to all the things in survival horror'.
*1998
Daymare claims to be a true old-school survival horror game and yet it's completely linear, losing the entire appeal of the gameplay of the old games that inspired it.
I love seeing these videos for small lesser known games that are good or bad, Great video!👍
The person that made this game seems like the type of indie dev telling themself "I like games and play them. That must mean I can make games too." They don't realize the skills involved with making good quality games, especially full 3D games. For a game like this you can't rely on asset flips. The dev should have worked with a small team that have their own skills required. If that wasn't an option the dev should have focused more on a 2D sprite game or make a PS1 style low poly game. With those options there would have been more the dev could have gotten away with.
What a game. 🤣
Gman you made my day.

This text-to-speech voice "acting" is some Tommy Wiseau-level shit. Cracked me up every time.
You should try Echoes of the Living, it has a pretty long demo, 2 characters. And the jankiness and sweet ambiance we love that OldGen RE2 /3 had. Should release this year.
