    I think we have a new go-to channel for drill testing. Killing it buddy. Great job my man. Enjoyed every second as always. ✊. Have a great weekend brother and my best to the family

    Very nice testing. I'd only add the testing on the DCD996 with either a Flexvolt or 20V Max battery with 21700 cells to see if it closes the gap between the DCD996 / 5 amp and the DCD999 / 6Ah Flexvolt

      Tested the 999 against gen 3 Milwaulkee 2years + ago . DeWalt showed slightly more power than my Milwaukee when paired with my 9 ah yellow belly Flexvolt. Thought you might wanna know

    I just bought this drill yesterday. I can`t believe the difference! It`ll rip your arms off compared to the older outdated one. It`s ALOT more powerful! NO REGRETS buying it!

    After experiencing the DCD800, I’m insanely stoked for the future Dewalt hammer drills! I have the DCD999 too so it will be hard to convince the wife I need an upgrade 😂

      @@TinkerWithTools sorry, I'm new to the space (just getting back into the market for a new hammer drill) - what indication do we have that there is a new flagship drill on the horizon? (The 998 & 999 are only a couple years old, right?)

    • @TinkerWithTools
      @TinkerWithTools  Před rokem +1

      @@skygreen5939 I have nothing concrete to suggest a new drill is coming. The 999/998 are at least 3 years old I think and at the end of the day they are just redone versions of the 996. So I would hope something is on the way.

    • @TinkerWithTools
      @TinkerWithTools  Před 2 lety +1

      It’s hard to justify upgrading drills in my opinion. It’s a pretty big investment and typically for most jobs the difference is minimal.

    You should have tried the 996 with the larger flex-volt battery. Non-flex volt tools still get a power bump. Could have tried them both with the power stack as well. I think finding the perfect match for the tool and battery is important

      Wasn't trying to be a jerk. 😁 I've just seen alot of how good is the battery videos. Obviously they make a difference, especially the larger AH, the 21700, and the stacked lithium.

    • @TinkerWithTools
      @TinkerWithTools  Před rokem +1

      I didn’t even take it that way at all so no worries I’ve done that comparison for different brands before (Milwaukee, Ridgid and even a power stack video) just didn’t do it in this video.

    The DCD997 has anti kickback, called «bind up control». This is the bluetooth model of the 996, so power wise it should be the same as that, but it also has customizable speed via buttons or mobile app. The bluetooth tools from dewalt are few, but just wanted to point this out.

      Thanks for pointing this out. I looked for that model online and it seems to not be available everywhere right now. For example Home Depot doesn’t have it available. But that would make it like the one key version of the Gen 3 hammer drill which had such functions. Do you know then if the either the 998 or 999 can be controlled by the app? I don’t think they can and if not that seems like a big miss for DEWALT.

    • @magnusa24
      @magnusa24 Před 2 lety +1

      @@TinkerWithTools No I don’t think the newest models work with bluetooth, the ones that do seem to have the small blue «wifi» symbol on them on the bottom. Also the bluetooth batteries have a blue light on them too.
      They made a bluetooth version of the previous compact xr as well, called dcd797 and 792 without hammer, but don’t think they did this with the 805 and 800 yet. Some of the european brands have had anti kickback for years, the bosch even has an angle function to assist you with putting in screws at the right angle.

    Great test!
    My remaining questions are:
    Flexvolt advantage vs Power detect
    Can a Power detect drill get the same power boost from FA batteries?
    Can a FA drill get the same power boost from 21700 (Power detect) batteries?

    • @TinkerWithTools
      @TinkerWithTools  Před 2 lety +2

      If I ever get my hands on one I’ll try to test it but I don’t have any plans to pay full price at the moment for a power detect.
