I thought Afterlife was better. But i still had a fun time watching this in theaters. Laughed several times, and i liked the ghost visuals

I'm going to see it tomorrow night! Can't wait. I'm glad they didn't take the lazy route and just bring back Vigo. It shows the writers aren't just trying to win us over with member berries.
Fantastic review! Love that you bring up the music in your film reviews. Unfortunately, enough film critics do not. Love Rob's music in Afterlife but it will be exciting to hear what Dario will bring to this series of films.

I saw this over the weekend. I thought it was fun. Had a great time and it felt like a solid sequel to Afterlife and a good entry into the Ghostbusters franchise. It had a great ratio of scary and funny moments. With the amount of stuff they cut, I'd be interested in seeing a director's cut when it gets released on streaming/blu ray.
I'm gonna see Ghostbusters Frozen Yoghurt this weekend at a brand new Imax cinema,
opening in Blackpool, where I live
(But will probably still go to the Niamos land cinema, in general!)

I went to see this movie at a screen x theater. First time experiencing this. It was definitely awesome. They project the movie pretty much all around you. There’s projectors on the side walls and it is an immersive experience. Can’t wait to see Deadpool and Wolverine like this! I enjoyed this movie very much. It was a fun time. Lot of action scenes. Very nostalgic. Solid 3/5 for me.

Weren't the little stay pufts in the research lab place does that maje sense where they are and some other Easter eggs in there
I agree with the thought that it seems like it's on a smaller scale. Watching some of the clips and trailer, it almost has the same feel as like a fan film. Still think I'll love it tho.

I’ve heard from other reviews the complaint about pacing of the story. I was concerned when I saw the runtime was just under 2 hours. I wonder why they didn’t extend it out a bit more to give the story room to breathe?
A lot of scenes do feel cut short.
In my opinion, this movie is not as good as afterlife but it wasn't terrible either, it real gives some mixed feelings but their is some stuff to enjoy like i the new ghostbuster tech was cool, the OG ghostbusters i thought were used well, Slimer is a delight as always, and Walter has not changed at all, so i give it a 4/5 but i dont want the franchise to give up next time they got make something more creative, add more fights and most don't disrespect the past that came before to keep our Ghostbusting franchise alive despite the trouble.
So, as a Ghostbusters fan I won't be disappointed is what I'm hearing.
You definitely won't be. Might go "huh?" a couple times, but it's still good fun.

I'm a Ghostbusters fan, and was unfortunately disappointed with Frozen Empire. To me it felt like a puzzle that wasn't fully completed with a bunch of puzzle pieces randomly thrown about the table -- the elements are there, but a cohesive picture wasn't made. For me, I feel Dan Murell's review was pretty much spot-on. I'd have to rank this one last among the four films.

We went to Harkins. Get the trap as fast as possible. They'll probably sell out in the first day.
will Slimer be a sidekick of the Ghostbusters?
Not like in The Real Ghostbusters, but he definitely does stick around the Firehouse like in GB2.

How are the Slimer scenes and is he a good ghost / mascot carried over from TRG?
He attacks Finn Wolfhard a lot like he attacked Peter in the original Ghostbusters movie, however he does get a great moment.
He's not super friendly like The Real Ghostbusters Slimer.

It can't be just all about grace McKenna's characters her story was in afterlife Ghostbuster have always been a team that stopped the bad guy not just Phoebe but l understand why you said that cause you loved Phoebe's character in the last Ghostbusters film and her story in it rhe last one

I got to see this last night at the London cast and crew screening, absolutely loved it. It felt like a big screen Real Ghostbuster’s movie. We had Gil, Fin McKenna and James introducing it.

Nice review, as usual. Unfortunately, it's falling into a very small minority of favorable ones for this film. I mostly was not a fan of Afterlife simply because of the heavy-handed nostalgia and fan service that reduced the overall plot to basically nothing but a rehash of GB1, but it did have its moments here and there and was pretty touching. I don't particularly care for the new characters, myself. They're not interesting, the acting isn't all that good, and the dialogue and writing doesn't do them any favors. I see that Walter Peck is back, and he worked best in GB1 as a foil for Venkman. I understand that here any interaction is very fleeting. Patton Oswald can be a riot, and I've heard he's good here, but I can't stand Kumail Nanjiani in anything he does. He's not funny. Most of the reviews I've read so far say Frozen Empire isn't a must-see by any means, but if it's on tv and you happen upon it, it may be worth a quick watch. It's a shame this franchise just can't get the creativity level back that was makes the original 2 films so enjoyable. Also, one other issue with Frozen Empire is the sheer amount of scenes from the trailers that aren't actually in the movie.
I feel like everyone saying "it's fine" or "it's good" are forcing themselves to say it because it's Ghostbusters. It was a lazy story. It was lazy writing. It was a Sony 2024 Q3 Shareholder movie. GBAL was a work of art. This was cash grab pile of hot garbage.
Phoebe's story line was awful.
They have pushed Ray Stantz to just a super level nerd when in GB84 he was a normal guy that liked odd things. Even in GB82 when he owned the Occult store. "Rays Occult open till 9 on weekdays" just a normal guy. He wasn't this over the top Ancient Aliens whacky hair crazy old grandpa. He should have been there working on Ecto helping take care of the place before and after work. Just wanting to be his best friends family.
Bill Murray should have just not showed up. I got my magical moment with him in GBAL. If he didn't want to be in pieces of the movie the whole way through the cameo wasn't needed (even though it was good).
Calle and Gooberson are in a relationship? You couldn't tell in the movie. Felt like brother and sister. Neither have yet to wrap a ghost with their proton pack yet in two movies.
Feel like Kumail character got lost on a set and wandered onto this set. He didn't fit. His stupid slapstick jokes weren't needed

Like I said. If you liked this movie you literally just like it because it's a Ghostbusters movie and they could have rolled out a bag of poo and you would have enjoyed it.

Educate yourself before you review a franchise you know nothing about idk wtf you guys watching!! Obviously you never grew up watching the real Ghostbusters. And stop comparing it to the 84 that's what you're doing.
