The question is "Is it worth it?" The answer is "yes". I'm still using my Akaso V50 Elite, and LOVING it. It's not a Go Pro, but it didn't cost as much either. The VALUE is awesome. I shot an entire video of a vacation trip a few years ago, and my wife was shocked at the quality of it. We're very glad we took it. (My son took some very funny video at the wave pool.)

Buenas! Another reason to have a cheaper camera for non-pros is that if you are travelling as I do. It is a lot easier to take a $60-80 hit in the pocket if your camera gets stolen (or dropped down a mountain crevice, ooops) than if that happens to your $400 camera. Theft can be a real problem . . especially when travelling.
One thing I noticed - no guitarist would ever say 'two electric guitars' and not mention brand or model. That's how you gauge folks in two seconds. :)))

The wobble looks like rolling shutter. The side by side test with the GoPro showed the resolution difference and that was a great way to show if it’s really 4K. Great job on this video
It does look like rolling shutter at times. I figured the side by side with the Hero 7 would show the differences in 4K image quality and it did. Thanks for watching !
I picked on of these up to stick in my plane and genuinely love it for the price. It’s no GoPro but for the price difference it’s a no brainer. Got mine for £51 with Amazon Lightning deals and paired it with the Sametop adjustable suction cup mount. Tested it on my car and it really doesn’t move. Even the EIS works great

I'm not sure I see even 1080p, I checked my player several times because I thought it had reverted to SD. Audio is audible, better than some for the price.
Since I uploaded this in 4K, the 1080 was also put on a 4K timeline so it’s upscaled by me.
As one of the previous comments mentioned, I too am very pleased with my Akaso V50 pro camera.
The Surfola is also a pretty good action camera for the money. Thx Andre ….now get in the pool and cool down…😂

I have reviewed their Dashcams including their 4K touchscreen which was not good in 4k but works fine in 1440 and 1080. This is likely the same hardware. I bet it uses the same Novatek chipset.

Really not bad for the money Andre. However where i am selling price is €105.00 on Amazon UK. I see you get a Surfola SF230 that sells for €70.00. Battery life is very good and the audio i was surprised to hear was okay, what i also like is it is lightweight. Perfect for when i fly my old Bugs 2SE drone that has awesome landing gear to add an action camera. Obviously my main drone is my DJI, but having a few older Bugs drones that are still fun to fly from time to time. In ending, a nice review and a good camera for anyone on a budget.

Nice video, and it made me decide to buy sf 530 as my first sport camera. So far I am satisfied with its resolution. But one small question, how do you turn on the EIS mode? In the settings I couldn't find this founction.
Unfortunately I don't have it anymore, gave it away, but it should have either EIS or stabilization in the menu to turn on/off
@@WORTHITORNOT Yes, there is! But only after I connect it with mobile phone app. In the app there is a switch. And then the EIS mode will appear in the camera. Hope this would help the people having same question with me.

Hmmm... I'm not sure about this one. It's amazing that they can make such a thing for $80 and if this were 20 years ago, I'd be freaking out but in 2022... Not sure about this one.
Oh I agree, if someone is on a tight budget and it’s their 1st action camera, this might be an option for them. Like I said at the end of this video, you get what you pay for. Heard you had some bad weather in your area? If you are working today, guess you made some easy $ :)
Yeah but our shooting schedule got screwed up so we're having to work on Saturday now due to actor and location availability.
Man the global chip shortage has hit budget action camera innovation. Ever thought of covering the RunCam thumb pro 4k? Has a form factor of the insta 360 go with an icatch v39 SoC. It's meant for FPV drones so there's no internal battery or screen, but can be used with micro usb and app. Seems kinda dumb to use it as an action camera, but curious to see your take on it.
That might be a big reason why the budget action camera segment has slowed down so much ! I have not heard of it but will take a look and reach out to the company and see if they'll send me one to put on one of my FPV drones.

What do you do with all of the budget cameras that you test? I'm looking for a budget camera to make a scope cam with. 240FPS at 720 minimum. 240 FPS at 1080 would be better. Also I will need to swap the lens with a 12mm or 16mm lens. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for your reviews.
I keep the good one's for future comparison videos and the others I have given away. 240fps in 1080 is asking a lot from a budget camera but 240@720 might be a better option. Sorry I can't help with lens replacement suggestions. Thanks for watching !

It's amazing how the prices of these cameras have dropped over the years. Not great quality but if that's all someone can afford, I guess it's okay. btw your pool looks nice and bet you use it all the time in the heat.

Ah! Your pool and wading pool look really great! The picture and color of this action cam look pretty good (on the "soft" side like you noted), and its mic isn't bad at all. But, its EIS is ... "ehhhhh." Also, did the FOV seem more restricted than the GP Hero 7 Black? Thanks for braving the heat to make this review! 🥵
Yes the FOV on this camera has a bigger crop than the Hero 7. The pool turned out great and with this heat we’re using it daily. Thanks for watching !

It does warm shooting in 4K like all cameras do but mine has not overheated to where it shut off.

That's easy to find out. It's in GoPro's public financial disclosures. For Q2 '22 the overall company gross margin was 38.5%. That's gross margin, so it doesn't include indirect expenses.
Adding performance, quality and features don't come at a linear increase in cost. As an example, if you need an electrical component that is twice as fast, it costs a lot more than 2x the slower one. If you need a lens with twice the sharpness (MTF), it costs a lot more than 2x the less sharp one.
Not really impressed with this camera's video quality. Like you said it looks soft and the GoPro 7 looks much better and even the stabilization on the 7 looks so much smoother and wider field of view. Thanks for the video

Glad you finally reviewed this camera. I don't have a 4K computer/TV so doing 4K.........well ignorance is bliss I guess. For me, the cost vs losing it or it getting damaged vs the quality is worth it. Mine DID NOT come with a charger. I also had an issue with the power button causing vibration sound as seen in my review. I think the sound is EXCELLENT compared to other budget cams.
