- Kowtown Gravel is a second-year event way up in Kremmling, Colorado, where the views are spectacular, the air is thin, and, yes, the cows are plentiful.
I took a Revel Rover from nearby Carbondale up to test it and myself. Spoiler alert: the bike fared better than I did!

Saw you out in the wild for the first time as you blew through the last station. My buddies and I did this event off of your recommendation in an earlier video. Best gravel event I have done (including SBT)! Loved the grassroots feel and chill vibes! Thanks for all you do for the 2 wheel community!!!
Right on. Glad you enjoyed it. Great folks there, right?
@@TheRidewithBenDelaney Salt of the Earth!
I love all the puns. Thanks for keeping it fun.
What are you talking about? This is SERIOUS BUSINESS riding bicycles in stretchy pants. 😜
You’ve reviewed many bikes, but I see you gave Revel a special spotlight. Ben does crash tests too, just leave some cash on the table and serve him up a milkshake 😅
Awesome video, ride and recommendations - Ben is on fire!
Nice ride Ben! Amazing bike too; I have a WHY Cycles R+ (which is the titanium version of the Rover before Revel and their sister company
"WHY Cycles" merged together last year) The geometry is so lovely. I just don't think many people give Revel enough of a look !
I have a R+ as well. What wheels you running on it ? I still have stock ones on
@blambmtb6189 - I have two 700c carbon fiber wheelsets from Superteam: A 38mm deep (24mm internal) for gravel, with 40mm Continental Terraspeed tires. The other set is 45mm deep (20 internal), for more pavement/ mixed use, with 32mm Panaracer Gravelking ss tires.
I've had them for about 3 years / 8,000 miles. I have thought about other wheels, but these have been so good.
Seeing as I got this as a frame. I don't have the I9 wheels. They're supposed to be amazing!
Glad you are ok , everyone crashes at some point . The last day of the Oregon gravel grinder I went down 5 times nothing broken . Keep getting back on . Death ride this week. Great videos keep them coming. 😃🚵♀️
Cheers, Mike. Have fun (?) on the Death Ride!
Ben reminds me of George of the Jungle. Watch out for that tree! 😀
Fun to see you out there as you blew by me shortly after the last aid station (I was on the Calf course).
Good stuff, Ben. I was surprised to see the Garmin Edge 1050 fits on that KOM CM06. I'm finding that most mounts that fit the 1040 won't fit the 1050. Then I was surprised to see that KOM all blowed up! Pity it didn't survive!
Ben you should come out to Indiana for the Dust Bowl 100. Super cool event and great crew.
Jake Rytlewski's been pitching me on that for a couple years now. Send the promoter my way and maybe we can make it happen.
@@TheRidewithBenDelaney Just rode with Jake at his shakeout ride last weekend. Great guy. Probably too late for this year but I'll holler at Marc (the organizer) when I see him next.
Howdy Ben! Road the Kowtown Calf and came in 8th! The main group got away from me and I finished about a minute back. Sadly I was that guy in the middle of the lead group and the main group and mostly rode by myself. :(
Good review Ben! I just got the 1050 because I am growing more and more blind. The screen resolution is much better than previous models.
Cheers, Jim. Yeah, big screen/big numbers & text = more better for many of us.
My eye sight is dwindling also but I can still see what I need to see on the 840. For the price of the 1050 I wouldn't buy it unless Garmin would implement a lockout feature so if it got stolen nobody could use it without the correct passcode.
Tire pressure info was very useful. I've been using the values Silca give, and they are quite a lot higher. I'll be giving yours a go next time out.
Silca's chart is great. And as you know they have four different gravel settings. I just checked and 24/25psi is what Silca has for my weight at 49mm tires on Cat 3 gravel. Kinda arbitrary picking a number for gravel, but fun to play with.
Recently bought a Rover, mostly love it, except I should have gone with a different drivetrain. You're right, everything ok until you hit the double digits and then it's a lot to keep turnign those cranks over. I took it up Lickskillet last week, oh my.
I like that wheelset
Had no idea you were there. Tough ride for me. That descent after the big climb was treacherous, was it really a road lol.
Any thoughts on the Zipp handlebar you used? which one was it?
The XPLR bar is sweet. The extreme flare at the ends looks a little funny to me, but I love the shape of the flattened, backswept tops and the shallow drops.
Was the video about the bike or the event? You could have summed up the bike in a 2 minute video.
Troy Maclure: "Theres more than one way to get high, baby"
Great as always, Ben! I've gotten so much knowledge from watching your videos. Hope I get a chance to meet you at #SBTGRVL in 5 weeks.
General Question: SBT GRVL Most Douche of all Gravel? If not, what has a higher Douche Rating?
I'm 1000 feet above sea level. I die at 80+degree heat. Just don't have the VO2. I can't imagine doing that altitude in the heat. Essentially its double altitude training.
Yeah, the course is a lot harder than it looks on paper. A few guys said it was the hardest ~100-mile gravel event that have done.
These bike prices doesnt compute with my 800$ salary.
