That’s amazing that you can keep equipment together in a field that rocky! Can’t wait to see more planting footage and I hope there’s late season freezes don’t hurt any of your crops.
Great video and glad nothing happened to the equipment and hope all comes together for you and your dad with this crazy weather we have been having stay safe and talk to you soon
Your rocks remind me of farming in Wigtownshire in Galloway Scotland, you would never be able to gather stones fast enough. Though some farmers believe that the soils warm faster in rocky stony areas. But they certainly tried in my area, hence the thousands of miles of drystone wall still in use today, great videos keep up the good work. 🏴👍
Hello Mike, very nice vidéo 👍, i'm happy to see your corn planter work in field, if you can to see how it works. Currently in France we also sow corn ; with pneumatic precision seed drills.i'll be happy to watch another vidéo of your set 👍🤩 See you soon! good day👋
Some really awesome footage Mike! I see what you mean about the rocks there’s quite a few in that field. I can remember being younger and picking rocks by hand all day and then looking behind you and feeling like you didn’t even do anything lol. Also I was listening to Andy Hourigans Live stream the other day while I was in the tractor, and he was talking about a John Deere tractor that they traded in that you guys actually still have today. That’s pretty cool. Take care man hope you and your family are staying healthy and safe.
Get that or poor guy an air seat. You got some rocks. Around here we have widely scattered small ones but most of ours are between 20-75 lbs and the occasional 200 lbs boulder.
Enjoyed watching your dad planting. You got some good drone footage of him going across the field. That field really has a lot of "Sex Stones" in it. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe.
Next time i hear someone complaining about rocks i am going to link them to this video and tell them to dry it up. Man that is rocky. They are not huge one but dang.
Thanks Boss. It shouldn't hurt the yields. Having all these rocks in this field isn't anything new. I got videos of combining soybean in this field last year and corn the year before that
I have several friends in the midwest..I try to tell them how rocky our soil is.. When they show pics of them plowing or digging out there i always ask if they had sand brought in for fill.lol
@@mikep7810 Had to dig a hole for my back porch for a 8x8 post.. 1 hole three guys hour and a half. only got down about 38 inchs. pulled out an entire wheelbarrow full of rocks.. Hole was almost 4 feet across by time we got done.. Yeah we got rocks around here for sure.
With all due respect, this looks a lot like a Northern Wisconsin field, especially the clay-soil hills. Camp No-Fun exists in NY too. I have to think fields in upstate NY around Saranac Lake and in the foothills of the Adirondacks are loaded with stone seeds like I've never seen huh??
How many rows does your dad usually make for the headland 12 or 16. I always planted the silage corn a little different from the grain corn. Nice cloudy day up here in central ny.
When I disk, chisel plow, or run the finisher i go back and forth then outsides last to clean up my marks where I turned. When planting you go around the outside first so you know where to pick up your planter or seeder
Is there a reason for it why there are so many rocks, looks like a gravelpit bad for youre machines anyways thanks Mike have a good day greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
It's been awhile since I've helped somebody crop Farm. I'm a maple guy but Isn't it kind of cold to be planting corn? Don't you want the soil temperature to be at least 50°? I'm in the western part of the state and it hasn't been anywhere near that warm around here! We've been getting snow! What are you able to get away with when planting corn in terms of How many days ahead of time you can see a warm up coming?
Wow, the comments beat me to the rocks. I couldn’t farm that, all the best to you!
Thanks Scott. It would be nice to have a roller to pack those rocks down better. We ended up seeding this field down last year
You NEED to rent a rock picker for that field , big time OMG Mike ...
Yeah we ended up seeding that field over
Nice looking John Deere tractor and corn planter. I enjoyed watching your corn planting video. Thanks for showing.
Thanks Brian. Its a real good little tractor
Never seen a field so rocky. Great footage Thank you !!
Thank you Larry. Glad you enjoyed it

I try to be really careful and not push it in that field. That field can be unforgiving on the equipment
Oh the days of bagged fertilizer. I remember it like it was yesterday, 80 lbs bags of triple 15
Those 80 lbs bags don't seem to get heavier as the day goes by too
Great video and glad nothing happened to the equipment and hope all comes together for you and your dad with this crazy weather we have been having stay safe and talk to you soon
Thank you Travis. You stay safe too!
Hey Mike you're flying that drone like a pro now!! Good to see your dad, great video!!
A little easier to fly when I don't have to drive the tractor! Thanks Mike
Great videos. I look forward to watching them.
Thank you I appreciate it
A good used haybuster rock picker looks like it would fit right in on your farm.
It sure would
Great drone video!! Hope planting goes smooth.
Thank you. Now that we are out of that field it should be a lot smoother!
Awesome to see real planting of straight rows and markers
Thank you Tom

Yeah the 4040 actually came from Andy's farm. I'm gonna have to go back and watch his livestream and hear that
That’s is a ruff field alright no way to pick all the rocks there would be no field left. Great videos Thanks stay safe.
Its usually a field we start with to get it done and out of the way. I need to invest in a rock bucket
Mike I have a rock picker perfect for that field I picked 38 loads today with rock picker
@@bryanvanvorce2284 Maybe we'll have to try it out next year
mikep7810 just have too keep in mind have one hooks to tractor and runs of remotes
Heading out now myself . Have a good day over there in Upstate.
Thank you John. Best of luck getting the seed in the ground
Farming rocks! I mean literally...farming rocks.
Haha yes literally. Rock music and rocks in the field
Talk about a rough, rocky field, that’s a bouncy one for sure.
It definitely is
Get that or poor guy an air seat. You got some rocks. Around here we have widely scattered small ones but most of ours are between 20-75 lbs and the occasional 200 lbs boulder.
Luckily not all of our fields look like that
Great video we just back in the field today
Thank you Walter. Good luck back in the field
Good thing it was dry that day , no snow or cold rain 😆😆👍
With all the rocks in that field it could probably rain for a week and we could get right in there! Lol
mikep7810 it did look 👀 a little rocky 😆😆
Just a few!

Thank you. Yes that field is a rough one. im glad the other ones arent like that
I grew up around rocks, wasn't that bad...lol keep it up mike.
Thank you. Luckily the worst one is done. Time to move on to the better fields
Holy that’s rocky field , great video, must me hard on the planter ,
Luckily our other fields aren't this bad. Otherwise I'd be in the gravel business! Lol
mikep7810 would make a great gravel pit lol
Yes it would. It would be that if I owned it! lol
mikep7810 however corn grows good in stony ground I find
We just put our corn in the ground last saturday. And I'm glad to say that we don't have that many rocks 😅

You gotta try to do everything on the 1 or 2 days a week of nice weather we get

I use to plant 1200 acres of corn with JD no-till 7000 8-30 corn planter and a JD 4020 in 3rn gear / We to had rocks in Virginia
My dad use to plant with the 3020 before going with the 2940. Luckily our other fields aren't this bad
How does that field yield compared to your river bottom ground. Thanks great video
Not nearly as good. It still yields decent but not as good as our other fields

No this is gonna be corn we combine. we will probably put this in the silo forbthe cows
That’s cool! Thanks!
Mike, does the corn grow good in that gravel pit?? Wow that’s a rough field get dad some Aleve!! Nice video.
We did soybeans in it last year but if you go back a year ago and look at my high moisture corn video you will see us combining corn in that field
