Planting is far more technical than I imagined. Scout is such a character. When you dig, he digs. He truly is comic relief. Great video,I learned so much.
There is a lot to planting? Scout is my buddy! Thanks for watching!
Very informative video! Well done!
Nice set-up Russ.
Thanks 👍 One of the best things we did for the farm is to go to no-till.
Real nice vid!
Thanks a lot for this video!!!much appreciated!!!!
Glad it was helpful!
You are right. You can upgrade older units and save lots of money. It doesn't take the latest and greatest to do no till. I have much the same set up as you only no liquid. 300 pounds of dry on a 2x2. Mine is also 2 row pulled with a 75hp tractor.
Not many 2 row units out there. I really like mine. Thanks for watching!!
very informative, we are looking for the same setup, first timer on your channel i will subscribe
How’d the snake oil dust work?
a question the planter P7000 sows sorghum I would appreciate your answer
Can you go over the settings on the chain drive for the fertilizer
Sure I can do a video on the settings. Thanks for watching!!!
So do you plant the corn to get a warm season to “stockpile” and then graze in fall?
I use the corn in the summer time slump or graze it in the winter time. Thanks for watching!!
Silver King Sweet Corn is a hybrid from Syngenta.
That's why I eat the queen. Just saying!
@@mtpocketswoodenickle2637 Also a Syngenta hybrid.
Do you use the same planter for Gama. What population?
I use a John Deere 7000 corn planter plant on 15” centers 16lbs per acre. This drill could do it though
I want a 2 row seeder. Only seen the 3 point versions for sale
I took a four row unit and cut the outside row units off of the planter. It not really that hard to do and you can pick up a four row unit cheaper than a 2 row unit. Thanks for watching!!
@@RussWilson Ive got 42 acres open cropland, do you think a Kubota 2501 (25 HP) would pull that two row planter?
@@randalb5947 Should pull it with no problems. If I had hydraulics on my side by side it would pull it.
What do you do the next year after corn?
It depends if i need corn the following year. I will put it back into corn if not ill plant it back to permanent pasture.
do you cultivate your corn at all?
I do not cultivate corn. Thanks for watching!!
Nice video ! However you stated. "no till " Planting on the road the seeds were not in the ground ????? No joking...... My ground at planting time is often just as hard as the road ! So.....how does that work ?????
No till can be hard to plant sometimes. Especially if the soil moisture is low in soil. We are usually have window to plant when the soil are not so hard.
@@RussWilson If you have the proper equipment firm or hard soils is no problem. The real problem is not enough down pressure on the units. Or...a way to cut a track for the planter to follow. If you put the planter down on the country gravel road.. ( when its been dry ) and your not cutting a groove with the disc openers at least one inch deep.......where you cant find the seed. Your not going to do a good job no tilling. Been there and I dont do that.
I put 600lbs in the frame of my planter. When i cut the extra rows off it. I had 3"x4" flat bar laying around so I put it inside the farme seemed really help. This is the first no-till plant I bought and guy I got it off of said you need to keep the fertilizer box full to keep the disc in dry ground. So I weighted it.
