Well, it all comes down to this the decider of the most prestigious cup in fly fishing! Where better to decide the cups destiny than the world famous Loch Leven this is a wild Brown Trout fishery. This video was sponsored by the fishery kindly providing a Boat and permits to both Jock and myself. A really great gesture which is much appreciated.
The biggest factor on the day would be out Ghillie, Allan Smith absolutely made the day his knowledge, advice and good humour was outstanding!

Wow!!! That was a proper Loch Leven fish and you were also fishing from a proper Loch Leven boat. To get 11 fish to the boat, that was some achievement. Well done Jock and hard lines Lindsay. It was a great video though, thanks Lindsay 👍👍👍

Hi Lindsey, Stunning location at Loch Leven and the fishing was great too. Loved the video …even has some underwater filming showing the trout being released. You and Jock clearly had a great time. Looking forward to the return fixture next year.

My fishing mate Mal and I have The Splashes competition each year. Best of 7 this year...modesty prevents me from basking in my glory!
We use a point system for each outing, as follows:
1 pt for a rainbow
2 pts for a brownie
Bonus point for heaviest fish.
Most points wins the day. Keeps it exciting...
This year in addition to the Splashes Trophy, we have also added Heaviest RB and heaviest Brown "trophies"
Keeps it interesting and the banter is outstanding 👍. I like the idea of points 😉
Years ago fished a scottish national at menteith shared a boat with Alan Smith you would not think we were competing he was always offering advice a nice gentleman let's have more of this type of video excellent

Brilliant was on leven on Saturday and never touched a fish. The wind never helped! But there is something about the place that excites you and keeps you wanting to go back. Great camera work Lindsay and excellent angling jock keep up the good flogs.🎣🎣

Never fished it will give it a go when I get up next.
@@lindsayiflyfish 1000 acres, tens of thousands of wild brown trout and you're competing with four ospreys. If you allow the ospreys to enter the kit Kat cup Jock might we'll have some stiffer competition next year :)

Loved the video. Loch Leven's on my doorstep and although I blank more than I catch the perfection of those brownies keeps pulling me back. I would have loved to have heard more about how to put yourself onto the fish as it can sometimes feel like you're fishing over empty water. A bit more info in the VO and you could probably get rid of the music, it really gets in the way. But I'm subscribed and looking forward to more of the same, especially on Leven.

It's just a pleasure to be out on a venue like Leven, fish are a bonus Gareth.
After blanking on Loch Leven yesterday I realised the deep buzzer you used with Alan Smith is one I need to learn but can find any information on it. Any ideas? Alan once put me and my brother onto fish and detailed the technique to use that day and we had the best day ever out there.

The genetics of Leven trout are all over the world from Canada down to South America. New Zealand. The Falklands. Even India. The later along with a few other locations not a success. Combination of climate, environment, local population, native fish, predators and bad luck. Not an easy task when you factor in the costs and length of time needed to transport cargo those distances. In regarding the Kit Kat Cup. You are a fly angler with a top skill set and years of high level competition experience. Jock Kettles is one as the Yanks would term a GOAT. One the best and most gifted fly fishermen ever. Yes you can have some great days when determination and luck come together. Jock can pull trout out of a bucket of dry rocks. So every day is a battle. May the battle and banter continue for many years to come.
