  • Pat Noone is one of the last farmers to shear his own sheep. Most hire someone else. They don't have any local buyers so sell, what takes several days work, for peanuts..€30 per sac to the Chinese on Pat Noone's Green Hills Farm in county Galway Ireland.

Cannot believe how calm the sheep stay during the shearing

I think that they like it. I saw other sheep while I was there that looked like they were trying to rub their coat off.
I should have taken a picture, it looked like it had rolled down its collar.

From a shearer’s perspective a bit hard to watch. Interesting approach to shearing though I must admit.

What do you mean, a bit hard to watch? It's the first shearing I've witnessed, so I don't have any reference. How is it interesting?

@@lesliethurston7891 Professional shearer’s shear a sheep completely different. Most sheep take between 1-2 minutes to shear. It’s very rhythmic and just flows. No stop start at all. Google shearing competition or something like that. The wool just peels off the sheep.

Looks like his clippers are dull, poor sheep

Actually, they are not dull. I asked all kinds of questions before he started and he told me about the care of the shears prior to starting shearing season.

This is fine but you shouldn't be so rough with them.
