Hey just quickly regarding the naming and potential daughter theory. In a lot of Asian countries, Japan, Korea, China ect the surname is actually the first written name.

this is how you correctly tease a new hero, remember how ow 1 characters were teased, orisa and doomfist on numbani, echo on route 66, they used to do this and I'm so glad they're doing it more now

@@athena-love I think the problem with Venture is, there are no maps related to them outside of Temple of Anubis which isn't used anymore and they aren't directly related to anyone. They could have teased it like Kiriko's release back in OW1 where things were added on their website, though.

I'm betting that the photograph in the escape pod is of Mei and spacerangers mother obviously meaning that spaceranger is the daughter of Mei's friend from grad school.
Considering that characters story and age like Kiriko's, which doesn't make any sense, I wouldn't even bet on it đ
But yeah you are most probably right. Her mother was a scientist, making it possible to colonize Mars. She herfself decided to live there and gave birth to the new hero.

I think she not her daughter but her clone, thatâs why the project is called âred promiseâ scientist go on mars to do cloning experiments, that could help human win against null sector, robot can be fabricated in chain, why not do the same with human ? That promise is the freedom of humanity.
Gog damn it overwatch we have plenty of good guys and redemption heros, but little villains, specifically villain support. I want a second villain support to assist Moira.

i know the skill is called SPEED ring but I want to point out that Kiri is the only support that reduces cooldowns and Mercy is the only support that can fly
good point bro, don't think it's the ability to reduce kiri's coldown as it would break the game, but he mentioned verticality, so, a support that increases speed and flying? Or even make allies fly? looks like it will be cool anyways

Flying is not a rare thing in overwatch so thereâs no reason theyâd even hint at that
Iâm certain itâll be either increased fire rate or reduced cooldowns rather than just plain speed boost like Lucio again
Or, itâll give a speed boost while also giving a boost jump like baptiste to everyone
I havenât seen the video yet, but I think the new name is hyper ring? That gives more credit to it being a movement/cd buff rather than a speed boost

i was thinking that, but then they would have to change meis voiceline to past tense due to it being present test "my friend jiyai WORKS here" as opposed to "my friend jiyai Worked here"

out of all support releases, i feel like she's been the most anticipated. She definitely has the potential to be the next Kiriko in terms of popularity
Surprised nobody is speculating her utility is baptisteâs charge jump. Sheâs got those huge boots and devs said she has high vertical mobility. Could also be like mercy where she glides in mid air using her jet boosters
true that, though there's also the very obvious shot calling that the "things she does like only 1 other support" is gliding a-la mercy, which i hope is just something she does as a baseline and not as the big reveal of what makes her special

I think it might be gravity based, allowing faster movement and long jumps to her teammates for a short time. Or a "dash funnel" with propulsive tech that you orient in any direction, launching allies that passes through ? Could have visuals of lightspeed space faring haha. Maybe also an ult or ability that crushes down enemy, slowing them, kinda like what Ramattra has but larger, or more "targetable" (like you fire it at Pharah and she drops and is slowed).
I was hoping for something more like double jumps and wall jumps, like genji, but with a bit more forgiveness. maybe you can double jump, wall climb, then triple jump and then come down?
Mobility isn't utility though
Placing a ring and people going through it to get a speed boost would be a really neat idea.
It would be strange for the playtest to arrive in the middle of a collab event. My guess is it will be after it.

The could always re work the map
They need to bring back 2CP (minus Paris in it's current form). Removing them was such a mistake. When compared to Walk-The-Senior-Dog simulator, it's just so much better to play.
could definitely see them reusing some of the assets and the style of HLC to make a Mars clash map like they did with Hanamura into Hanaoka
They might give it the hanamura treatment and bring it back in another game mode.

After hearing the speed ring part, makes me theorize that the speed ring is placed on an ally similar to zen orb (unique to him only) which speeds up cooldown/ mov.speed/ or attack spd. If killed or taken a specific amount of dmg, the ring falls off which only the last player or space ranger can see on the map. Sheâll have a high vertical mobility ability (flight/ super jump) to allow her to retrieve the speed ring.
And if really similar to zen, then another ability to reduce enemy movement speed or cooldown

Just gonna point this out, there is a better fit for a "this game is going to get fast" style ability. Because maybe the speed ring won't boost movement speed, maybe it will boost attack speed. That lines up better than a flat speed boost since Kiriko is the only support with a way to increase attack speed. And perhaps the "faster" is referring to the time to kill as opposed to just moving faster? That's my take on it anyway.

Speed Ring makes it kinda sound like a boost pad kinda thing like in some racing games for a temporary speed boost when going through.

Mei says her friend jiayi works here and not worked here so this may mean jiayi is still working in lijiang tower and she is still on earth instead going to mars. I think space ranger does have relationship with jiayi possibly her daughter because space ranger is much younger than the women in the photo with Mei and also has different hair style and colour, but their eyes are pretty similar.
I thought when Mei see the space pod, she will have some special voice line but I tried she said nothingđđ
You're comapring an in-game image with outdated concept art. It's very possible they are the same person considering how different so many characters look from their original concept art.
I love that they're teasing Space Ranger the way that they used to tease heroes back in OW1
imo i think the pod almost crash landing back on earth could mean smth like this (theory):
Juno/space ranger was sent back to earth during a crisis on the space station. Her mother trading her place on the pod for her daughter. With Juno's low experience compared to her moms, it lead her to crash. Guessinf the picture in the cockpit is supposed to remind her of her mom and to show Juno who to look for when she gets back to earth. That being Mei.
I think itâs possible that the space ranger we saw at blizzcon is an older design of the character before they wanted to work her story in with Mei resulting in her being aged up from that original design, I donât think itâs likely but maaaaybe
I doubt, it could be possible but already having concept art and possibly already working on the model and skins for her it wouldn't be very likely
Also with balancing and coding her abilities, with having to make a new concept for her weapon, yeah I doubt
I hope not, I liked the younger design a lot more. And the idea that she was born on mars and is only now coming to earth is so cool.
I mean time in space is different from on Earth, which could explain how she'd still look young, unless Mei knew her much earlier on or something
Mauga and venture looked extremely similar if not exactly like theyre in game look. Space ranger most likely wont look different
I feel like the "Unique ability' wouldn't be a speed boost, since junker queen's commanding shout also buffs speed. I personally believe it's going to be an ability cooldown shortening, since the only other character able to do this currently is kiriko in kitsune. It'll "speed up the game" by reducing cooldowns, making teamfights shorter. Just a thought and my opinion though

maybe jiayi was cloned on mars, so SR is a younger clone, maybe clone 1672 or smth, so to feel more like an individual among clones, she dyes her hair.
"My speed ring is here" OHHHHHHH I NEVER SAW THAT GLITCH BEFORE! That definitely makes me think Space Ranger's rare ability is indeed a speed boost, I'm guessing like a mini Kiriko ult? Guess we'll see soon :)

@@sharkvirus8710 sounds very situational. Only good in maps with narrow corridors?? Chugging it in an open space during a team fight sounds like a death sentence with an easy targeted area.
a dataminer leaked that the space ranger is actually jiayi's daughter juno. Juno is the daughter of Jiayi. that means Jiayi is the moher of the pace ranger, which will lead to some interesting interactions with her and mei
I was hoping she would have gravity abilities like anti grav allowing player to jump higher
who knows she still has other abilities (hopefully?)

While I do think it's also entirety likely that the design of Space Ranger was changed to become Jiayi, I think the idea of them being Jiayi's daughter born on Mars is so much more compelling.
I love the idea of having a human character who is basically from another world. I can image her having voicelines and interactions talking about how difficult the gravity adjustment is, maybe commenting on the differences between Earth culture and Mars culture, maybe bonding with Winston and Hammond over being raised somewhere other than Earth. And the idea that her suit and kit aren't just for fighting but for her own survival is just really cool. I hope that's the case.
My thoery the new clash mode maps will be Hanaoka and a Mars Colony Map which will release the season after Space Ranger releases
My guess is she has an ability that looks similar like Bap window but instead itâs a circle (like a ring) and when you walk through it, you gain temporary speedboost

My theory is that it IS Jiayiâs daughter and that she came to earth, searching for Mei. Maybe her mom went missing or something.
when you were talking about the gravity on mars, I immediately thought of one of space rangers abilities, or ultimate would be something to do with giving the team some sort of low gravity effect. essentially giving team members huge bunnyhops or very light flight.
Crazy thought, what if there was an omnic uprising around the same time Rammatra started his invasion. Thus why she's in probably an emergency pod to escape the Colony

Disagree with you about blizzard not outright stating names of new characters theyâve done it multiple times reaper did it with Sambra and we knew straight away echoes name. Also donât take age into any sort of calculation as we know blizzard doesnât do well with age anyway considering Crico supposedly group with two guys that are almost in their 40s and sheâs may be 20.
kiriko is 21, and is the cousin of the shimada bros (who are 37 and 40) so yeah she wouldve been young for them to have a shared childhood
so i can guess that genji was late teens whilst kiriko was a young child during the bowlcut voicelines, which is why she maybe doesnt remember having one but genji allegedly has pictures, and why he pins his own bowlcut on his little cousin not wanting to be alone in having a haircut (maybe it was one of the first haircuts she can remember)

I think we will see that play test the weekend of July 27-28 since I am scheduled for a play test the 25th.
If the play test is setup for that, which I think will be based on your video and the timing of it all, then the stars align for the new hero then.

I have a feeling that her "deployable" could be something like a jump pad, boosting characters into the air. It would make sense considering her moon/zero gravity related background. I would be really cool to try combos with other character lmao

He could also mean Baptise's jump boost ability bc he did say utility and for some people, they get confused upon talking about the vertical axis & horizontal axis. He did say only one other existing support player has the utility she would be having, which if taken literally then it could definitely be the speed boost from lucio or jump boost from baptise (my guess would be the utility from baptise to stick to the theme of space and having to get zero gravity for a space ranger)
Letâs also not forget we got nothing about Anubis with the launch venture even though they made it look like we were going to blizzard has a good way of pretty much doing nothing when theyâre showing a lot

I think this utility mobility that space ranger is alluded to having is a vertical mobility, which is indeed only present on a single character, that being Lifeweaver's platform.

One thought I had while watching this video is that âThe gameâs going to be really fastâ was that it could not be focused around physical speed and more so faster cooldowns like youâd see in total mayhem. This is also something only Kiriko can do via her ultimate.
Her Hyper ring is probably something she throws/deploys on the ground, similar to old Torbjorn armor packs
In her defense, Sombra is 41 and doesnt look a day past 25 and there would assumably be a cryogenic freeze portion during space transit which would halt aging like how it did with Mei. But either way im really excited for Space Ranger as a player who really wants a support with a ton of verticality.

i think it is gonna be a large ring that you can shoot through and i think standing in it or shooting through it will make your bullets move faster, it may or may not give a temporary speed boost to players who jump through it idk
My bet is that the play would before after or near the end of the Transformer event. Cuz I bet they don't want to detract from sales and I wouldn't be surprised if a stipulation was put in to not detract of collab branding.

Another thing of note is the fact that speed in general might not be what they're talking about with space ranger because kiriko has haste with her ultimate that speeds up cooldowns and she is the only hero in the game that provides that support
Junker Queen Lucio and kiriko ult provide speed boost, but I do admit that it most likely is Lucio with speed boost

Itâs nice if they going back to elements from previous world building and in game teasing. Like Venture and Lifeweaver came out of no where and no known factions whilst even though Illari was brand new she just had way more interesting back story
