I think the self creation concerns are really all secondary. The real question to ask is that, is the shooting overrated? His freethrow percentage, both for his career and last season were in the less than impressive low 70% range. It is entirely fair to be a little nervous if his greatest strength on offense don't end up being a strength right away. Without the great shooting as foundation, a lot of the theoretical auxiliary upside for creation kind of crumbles
the only thing that concerns me is the fact neither DJ or Trae shouted out the new draftees like they usually do, if the hawks get rid of both Trae and DJ and go into full-rebuild idk what to say...
The draft was just weak, it is what it is. He’ll still be a solid player with a pretty high floor. Don’t think he’ll be a straight up bust at all, just somewhat limited upside for a first overall pick. A good piece if you’re building around Jalen Johnson, who is going to be one of the top 20 guys in the league very soon.
Only true weaknesss is that he hasn’t learned how to create his own shot tho but I feel like if most teams look at what he’s good at who wouldn’t want that because atp if the project fails you still have a 3 and D guy
my issue is not with the player its the fit. The hawks are supposedly are in win now mode. We are insanely small, with a aging center who is a shell of a defender that he used to be. We NEED BIGS! and have no cap sopace for free agents. I wish we would have flipped this pick for multiple game changing defender ( We could have got Clingon, Holland and possible Ryan Dunn ) that could help immediatly. Yea sure down the road he might be solid. But he does nothing to make us better now, and we have no assits or cap space to build only the trade market. This was a chance for us to get two solid holes filled and instead hes in na crowded front court fighting for minutes.
My concern is that my Hawks have two perimeter guards that likes to dominate the ball which limits opportunities and stunts development of the younger players.
According to reports, Dejounte Murray or Trae young might be traded. Infact, Murray has an higher trade value than Trae. Therefore, Murray might be most likely traded
The draft is weak this year. No generational talents, but a group of talented players that have the potential to be solid NBA role players. With that being said, nobody wants their first #1 pick in 50 years when there is no stand out option lol. I can understand the frustration.
I cannot understand the people that want to draft a guy that barely played in the NBL vs a guy that played well in the Euroleague and French NLB league. Australian NBL league guys all struggle hard in the NBA. Taking Risacher over Sarr anyday.
He's for sure the second best player in the draft it makes sense why they took him. What I'm expecting is that Zaccharie will end up being a better offensive player next year than sarr. But sarr will be better defensively.
I don't get the hate, I think he could become an MPJ type player. With that comparison though, he will be a better passer and defender than MPJ is, maybe not the same level of shooter but not too far below that. Not many people can shoot like MPJ though so even still he will be great.
zacc is not wemby, blanchero, or ants caliber , at least yet, but this year the draft level is lower by far i think, but still zacc a reallllly good player he will help atl a lot
A team who traded away all of there future pics has to take a big swing at potential superstar with Sarr. You may miss but picking Zacc with a obvious ceiling doesn’t move the team forward because hawks have no way of getting elite unicorns outside the draft
If Frank Mason is the player that I know him to be and ZR , at age 18 was able to play in the same league as a 29YO Mason that’s potential I don’t mind betting on .
The problem with Risacher is his shooting. He didn't finish his season on just a slump, he had a bad fall on the head, and got his muscle memory messed up by it. It's a thing. It could take years before he can shoot like the beginning of this past season. Ask Jordan Poole.
I think it's most likely he won't be a bust and be in the league awhile. He's a team first player which is becoming a trend for winning ie: Denver/Boston. Everyone in this draft has some worrisome knocks, like Reed Sheppard's wingspan, Sarr's shooting, rebounding, screening, and Clingan's finishing at the rim and perimeter defense. Sheppard would have been a bad fit with Trae and a guy you don't build around, Sarr and his agent were shady (Reddish vibes). So Clingan and Risacher were really the only options. Risacher obviously has the higher ceiling so it's a no brainer at 1.
thanks as a Hawks fan you got me hype. Might actually be nice for him to hear he's the worst #1 pick cuz there's zero expectations to live up to. Just go out and ball and it will be easy to beat Anthony Bennet.
He was the only pick for the Hawks. The Hawks have bigs, and Sarr even said he didn't wan to come to Atlanta, so I don't think he was the guy. Clingon and Sheppard were the only other 2 options I saw thrown around by critics. Sheppard doesn't work, because then they're just drafting, at best, another Trae. Clingon fell pretty far, and still wouldn't fit. Risascher is the only player in the draft that I think the Hawks could have reasonably taken at the time who fits with the current roster. Good video.
People thought Luka wouldn't be good either. American fans automatically think that an international player won't be good. Especially if they aren't melinanted. I like Risacher and think this was the right pick. Might have to hit a few Hawks games this season now.
To me this draft really doesn't have a player who is going to be a first option on a team, but a lot of possible second, third, fourth or even one hell of a sixth man (Rob Dillingham ), I admit I thought of the possibility of Atlanta taking Clingan, I'm think Risacher is what I'm thinking Hawks fan are wishing this is who they wished De'Andre Hunter was going to be . I think it's possible that Risacher will make an all star team at least once or twice.
Seems like John Collins, but a slightly better shooter. I will start watching the hawks if they pick up a big body 7 ft guy. Capela can hold his own but I want someone who can punch back in the paint. I would trade trey young for a big center and a good passing point guard who isn't necessary as good at creating. Trey's style will not win a title IMO
I think he's even more fluid than MPJ tbh and a better passer but yeh MPJ is a lights out shooter, he needs to prove himself a bit more as a shooter but I see the comp
Addressed the defensive issues further by bring in Dyson Daniel’s and Larry Nance and hawks fans are mad at that also. They wanted all star talent for Murray, but these new additions are here to add bench depth and perimeter defense. I like Bogi and Matthews as shooters, but they are trash defensively. Plus they get 2 future 1st rounders and I’m sure they’re far from done tweaking the roster. Hawks went to the 2021 ECF without Murray and their bench play was crucial during that run🤷🏽♂️.
Thank you Hawks fans for not taking Sarr. I’m excited for my Wizards to work with him on his 3 point game, which he already has a good stroke for. Going to be a killer on both ends at that point. Oh yeah, and he’s 7’1. He’s already going to have a super high floor just from his defensive abilities alone

Generational Hybrid Player Wemby in a SF form basically 6’10 elite defense first elite fastbreak skills kind of excited him and Johnson plus Trae
Nice.
Taking Risacher over Sarr anyday.
bro got the MP 2k23 experience
He's for sure the second best player in the draft it makes sense why they took him. What I'm expecting is that Zaccharie will end up being a better offensive player next year than sarr. But sarr will be better defensively.
I don't get the hate, I think he could become an MPJ type player. With that comparison though, he will be a better passer and defender than MPJ is, maybe not the same level of shooter but not too far below that. Not many people can shoot like MPJ though so even still he will be great.
I can't believe we let AJ Griffin go for second rounders.
Stupid
zacc is not wemby, blanchero, or ants caliber , at least yet, but this year the draft level is lower by far i think, but still zacc a reallllly good player he will help atl a lot
Definitely want your #1 pick to give you 25 5 and 5…
Which person in this draft was a guaranteed 25 5 and 5?
As hawks fans we got let bro play and grow. Instead we bashing him right after the draft
thanks as a Hawks fan you got me hype.
Good video.
He reminds me of MPJ
People thought Luka wouldn't be good either. American fans automatically think that an international player won't be good. Especially if they aren't melinanted. I like Risacher and think this was the right pick. Might have to hit a few Hawks games this season now.
Young, murray, young zach, johnson and capella
To me this draft really doesn't have a player who is going to be a first option on a team, but a lot of possible second, third, fourth or even one hell of a sixth man (Rob Dillingham ), I admit I thought of the possibility of Atlanta taking Clingan, I'm think Risacher is what I'm thinking Hawks fan are wishing this is who they wished De'Andre Hunter was going to be . I think it's possible that Risacher will make an all star team at least once or twice.
Good in France yeah, rude awaking when you get to the NBA good luck
PTSD from Andrea Bargnani
Seems like John Collins, but a slightly better shooter. I will start watching the hawks if they pick up a big body 7 ft guy. Capela can hold his own but I want someone who can punch back in the paint. I would trade trey young for a big center and a good passing point guard who isn't necessary as good at creating. Trey's style will not win a title IMO
For a long time, one thing we Hawks fans have been wishing for is a star wing. Let’s be thankful.
why are people even excited about Sarr? nothing about him pops and he's already displaying attitude issues. he's the next Ayton, at best
So people are angry because he didn't play in the states before? Well Luca Wembanyama will rolls their eyes...
Trae young gonna be having a field day. Let’s go Hawks!
I think he'll be good. The NBA has zer0 defense, I think that's what the Atlanta Hawks are seeing the potential in this guy
He sorta looks like Michael Porter, Jr. to me. Maybe not as good a shooter, but more willing passer. Very similar body frame & movement, though.
I think he's even more fluid than MPJ tbh and a better passer but yeh MPJ is a lights out shooter, he needs to prove himself a bit more as a shooter but I see the comp
I think he'll be good but the hawks need more defense. He's a finesse player.
Can't wait to see Dyson!
@@6manYTSame here!
What’s the point of this comment
Hello mate i really want to edit your videos at high level mate.
Should have got Dalton Kenecht
He like that
Un peu de croissant
The Hawks and the Falcons both hit on their first rounds picks doubters just don’t know sports fr, both will go down as legends
Y’all remember when the Knicks drafted Porzingas?
He is tatum not MPJ
