So imagine it as a 'battle royale' except you do not shoot other survivors. Instead, 100 people each in a squad of four or five are are sent into this abandoned facility, where there are ALOT of zombies, and the facility is assaulted by ALOT more zombies. Winner is whoever dies last. There is limited ammo, and maybe side objectives. While a competative game, you are competing with your opponents not fighting them
Funny thing is, if Mark made the backup just like the first half, he's probably have won

That’s the indication that his second line of defense will be wild and chaotic.
in general in this game....ye , you need 2-4 lines of defense because even if you turned you HQ into a citadel inside the city to survive the horde gets into your city , its rare you can rebuild fast enough to have the resources to resist a second wave...
wich is also why the game is player/customer hostile designed :/....its mechanics are great... but the only 'save' function it has.. is Iron man style.. so if you dont own it ,but loves its mechanics of real time rts & passive/indirect city economics.... keep your ears open for some other title.
since its save functionality in practise is 'rouge light' wich is fine for a game like say ftl ,where at most you burn half an houer etc..... but this game ? wher an hole houer often is the MINIMUM before you even can GUESS if you have a chance to survive the largest wave ,so iron man only saves ontop of that that auto self purges after victory or lose ? ...hade i known the devs only make it have iron man mode and nothing else i would honestly never bought it.
@@Amoth_oth_ras_shash if you want to save scum a level, just save after a successful wave. If a wave gets through to the town, you already lost. There is not coming back if you don't have the strength to survive an early wave.

wich part of 'iron man only' mode that the game limited its save functionality for is it you not grasps ? XD ...also ,false i plugged holes and rebuilt the 'section' that got overrun of a city several times.... now if your city is nothing but a giant blob of houses spread out whilly nilly with industrie ...that might not be possible for you but thats not so much why i loath its player hostile design..
its that... a rouge light.. sure iron man only saves ,at worst i waste 29 min...
but a strategy game that eats up 2 houers just to FIND OUT if i got a shoot at the final wave..
ontop of the fact..umm ,maby i enjoy the challange of the final waves way more then the early rng tosh ?...yet since the saves are PURGED if you win.. and you cant exit the game without saving ....well ?

It doesn’t need to melt. We used Atoms Real-time for crowds to get 10,000+ zombies. Then as they get closer we switch to full UE4 actors with machine learning from WildMeta

@@CSawant Honestly, there really aren’t that many zombies at one time in WWZ. They do a great job with particles to create that illusion, but you won’t ever see any more than L4D or B4B amount
Plot hole in the game: They spent all that gold and resources for a ground base, why don’t they make a simple aerial base so the zombies can’t even touch the humans?

From a military standpoint, Markiplier's Defenses were a resounding victory even in defeat.

He managed to inflict a casualty ratio of just short of 20 to 1, which no human army would tolerate before simply breaking and routing.
Somebody needs to make a 1st person shooting game with A LOT OF ZOMBIES just for Mark. He needs that in his life😄

So, as a self-proclaimed expert. You did pretty well actually Mark. Honestly, if you would have just know about the fact; one Sniper is worth 20 Soldiers, you likely would have won that.
Edit; Ok, it seems some people don't understand what I mean by this.
I am not saying that a Sniper has 20 times the stats of a soldier.
The idea of They are Billions is; how many zombies can you kill per second. A sniper can one-shot any normal zombie in the game, including Zombie Executives (6 shots from a Soldier).
You will need to forgive me for the exact stat difference; as it has been a while since I last played, But I think that the sniper has a range of about 100 while the Soldier has a range of about 20. So far more of them can shoot at a time.
When it comes to holding a very small choke point; 200 Sniper could hold a spot indefinitely, while the 4000 Soldier would take small losses every wave.
I haven't played this game yet, but have watched many people play it, so pardon possible ignorance, but wouldn't it have been a good idea for him to improve defenses on the last line during the assaults?

I do love how on the regular maps once you get about 30 Snipers they just lay waste to everything when going around clearing the map.

I have another thing to add to Mark's idea: a legendary weapon you can get after a ridiculous number of waves that is essentially the Fat Man nuclear launcher from Fallout, but as a minigun. and it takes like 5 people to operate it.
I'm so excited for Mark to play this game, it's got a special place in my heart because it balances resource management with survival, tower defence, and zombies (which are all my favorite genres, packed into ONE GAME!)
I discovered this game out of boredom around its testing stages and up to this day I have never forgotten about it, it's one of those games that's just one of a kind.

The surviving waves of zombies game Mark keeps talking about would actually be my kind of game especially if you get to design your base. I love designing bases.
I mean 7 days to die is kind of like that. Although I kind of miss the old item leveling system. Project zomboid is also a good choice but it is not first person

Honestly, I have good ideas for bases and only if the creative mode for this game had a part where you can instantly spawn things and an infinite amount, I would just make the bridge be nothing but wall after wall after wall packed to the absolute max with strong soldiers and snipers.

I was looking at the minimap at 23:29, while “things were good”, and when i saw the solid ball of red appear, I knew this was about to get real bad.
I feel like, if I'm not crazy, having the first, best line of defence, be a wall that came to a point might not have been a great call, since corners are easy to destroy. Also... been a while since I played this game but aren't there, big turrets and the like...?
The fact that we got teasers and a long setup made this so much more funnier to me than it should be

That idea mark had is the same I had and my way of fun, having a hundred people fighting against a million or more zombies which would be so awesome!!
Only one thing more awesome than killing billions of zombies, going through watching Mark react to leviathans in the ocean in a sub below zero degrees.
Pro tip, an executor tower is more effective than a tower full of vet soldiers or vet snipers.
Executors can take on multiple enemies at once.

I love how Markiplier's titles are just straight and to the point.
The biggest problem to me seems to arrange your defences in such a way that you can aim at certain spots with as much artillery while the walls are thick enough. Kinda like having as much walled up turrets in a certain space.

Got the game yesterday and immediatly played this map. I just put a stone wall in and stuffed the rest with as many of the titan solders as could fit. Worked amazingly and I would highly reccomend.

18:00 aw man, Mark just reminded me of Dwarves VS Zombies, which was a custom game someone did for Minecraft. Players were all on a team of dwarves building defenses until a timer ran down. Then, an event happens where some dwarves are made into enemies, or a plague happens, or something like that.
Regardless, some players die and become team Zombie, which consists of various enemy mob based classes, and the zombies had to tackle the defenses of the dwarven fortress. Team zombie respawns, team dwarf can only fight to the last breath and join team zombie when they die, game goes until team zombie destroys the heart of the fortress. God that was a fun game. I believe there are fan servers of it still, but the official one by Rurikar was taken down a long while ago now.
It would be absolutely amazing if there were an official game that did this with the zombie horde idea, and having players that die come back as special/elite infected spawning with the horde.

Imagine a Battle Royal game, except instead of trying to be last one standing, all 100 players have to work together to fortify a and protect a fortress from a billion zombies!
From what I’ve seen from games since like 2010 up to today, I’d say we definitely have the capability to do so.
We’d just need to gain the attention of a game developer or developer company who would head the idea as a game, or have someone become a developer to then create that.
Because with processors, engines such as unreal, and a plethora of ambition it’s very much possible to create something like that. Even if it had to be toned down, hell it still would be possible.
A good example of how far gaming has come in terms of handling things would be UEBS 2 considering it was able to process millions of individual units in a very great quality video.

When Mark talked about a FPS on this scale, reminded me on how I want a Starcraft FPS with a mode with A LOT OF ZERG. I know there was one in the making that got canned years ago. But man, I still want one, and personally think it would be great.
That would be awesome. I remember when I would get frustrated my simple strategy would be a fuck ton of Zerglings just overwhelming almost everything. So yeah that would be horrifying to fight in fps

Imagine that you had a game where everything is 100% destructible for the zombie game, like reckless use of explosives and/or the presence of sufficiently powerful zombies can and will destroy concrete walls. This could create obstacles and crush zombies though. So as part of your defense strategy it might be workable to basically sacrifice parts of your base as they’re overrun and your fortifications are breached, collapsing tons of concrete on the heads of the undead, and you could potentially blast all the way down to local bedrock.

Heres a tip.
Fill in every possible space between your walls with either barbed wire or spike traps. Even when your first wall falls they'll have to crawl their way through layers of spikes to get to the next. And so on and so forth.
Spike traps in that game are definantly a necessity. They do way more than you may realize.

Titans are good in the front for keeping crowds thinner, Snipers are good for long holding actions, and Thanatos are good for sustained bombardment. Had he reversed some of his composition, he’d be in a pretty strong position. Soldiers are okay, but die much quicker than you’d prefer. After a certain point quality becomes the needed quantity: More high end units, with a massive reserve.
A good idea for a zombie game would be to have the zombies first start out slow and stupid, only to have them become more evolved over time. To the point where they are insanely strong,fast, more strategic, can dodge and use weapons.
That’s basically Call of Duty zombie mode now

i love how mark shows us that, its okay to not be good at something as long as you enjoy doing it! :)
Probably the best thing I could advise: Snipers are King, in my opinion. Have some groups of those target lock on to be set to highest priority zombies earlier than you did, (chubbies, venom, harpies). And others set to whatever is closest. And then, maybe create scratching posts. Which are lone walls further out, for zambies to hit , before they hit your main wall. If you're going on a zombie kick and want to check out a slow zombie game, I recommend TWD Survival Instinct. It's a prequel to TWD series where you play as Daryl, traveling through levels across a map & attempting to survive zombies that see, smell, and hear you. Every level has supplies you can/need to gather, you choose who survives with you when you find survivors, and some levels are far more intense than others. I think it was made in like 2013, tho, so don't expect ps5 graphics.

I don't think the normal game allows for billions of zombies to be killed. Custom games are probably more likely to have higher numbers of zombies.

It would be like a Planetside2 mod. Everybody is on the same side, all trying to protect a city from a massive wave of zombies. Each wave introducing a tougher element to defend against..Engineers would be in charge of repairs and construction, Medic heal and provide buffs and soldiers specialist in the main dps . Could call it "There just isn't enough bullets in the world"
Awesome try. Gotta get my hands on that level. Wonderspamming is amazing. But the more oil gets freed up from dying thanatos the more I think reinforcing the last line with titans would do the trick. Maybe lucifers too. Less oil cost. Towered snipers behind that.

Take a look at "Death Road to Canada", that game has quite a bit of zombies if you progress far enough. Plus the game is lighthearted and just your type of humor... You can barricade a single house as HUNDREDS attack tearing down doors, falling though the roof, tearing apart furniture in their wake and you and 1-4 guys (yes co-op is up to 4 players if you want to do that) Defending against hundreds of individually simulated zombies with individual AI paths as well...
