Jean luc respectfully listens to every musicians interpretation of his music
WOW.... I love it.JLP the teacher, plus Big band. Amazing experience.❤️❤️❤️
I have listened to the origianl album a zillion times but this version is absolutely immaticulate, thanks to the arrangments and the skills of the involved musicians.
The solo of Jean-Luc Ponty beginning at 5:50 demonstrates, if needed, that his sensibility is still awesome and untouched.
Thanks a lot for sharing this wonderful piece of music.
The big band spin on this is incredible, might be my favorite version!
Music is not a Question of Age ... the Drummer is brilliant !!
I'm a drummer myself. This guy nailed the song and did it well and used him own voice.
A+. It's about the music not the chops..
Saw him play this live in 1977!! Sat first row. Great memories!!!
Back then he had the most rocking band that drummer is crazy
The drummer simply stole the theme. Congratulations to him!
Amazing to hear ALL the horns in tune... sounds awesome!!!
Großartig 👍👍👍
Holy crap these are deadly awesome band arrangements!!!!
A great arrangement! This song is timeless. It doesn't matter what type of group, orchestra or big band plays it. If the musicians are this talented it works very well! Love this!
Awesome..Yesssss
wow! all those synthesized keyboard sounds of the original were played with such exquisite perfection by this band and the master of violin JLP that I will stay with this version.
Great tribute to Alan Holdsworth at the 7:20 mark!
lucky enough to have seen him 5x live!!-the best was in 1978 in NYC with Ralphe Armstrong-right after Ambrosia!!-JLP KICKED ASSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
I had the chance to see JLP and RA at Tulane in NO in 1977 and missed it . Ughh , somebody shoot me ! I read where someone described this music as romantic i.e.," marked by the imaginative or emotional appeal of what is heroic , adventurous , remote , mysterious , or idealized . Discounting "remote" I think those qualities may well apply , but I'm not a serious musician . I'd be interested to hear the opinion of an expert professional such as a classical orchestral musician .
me too-all I know is it was GREAT!
Jeff Smart : Saw him in Central Park ,Nyc ( my home..1973......OMGAWD !!!!!!!!
Yeah Jeff, like you, I saw him 5x also..1st was apocalypse tour w/ mahavishnu 1974, a life changing moment for this (at the time) 17yr. Old !! I listen to ENIGMATIC OCEAN several times a week...over 40yrs later !!!# TRUE MASTERPIECE...

does the complete concert exist on video?
c'est réussi jlp!!
Wat good. Play.....leicht. ..ist. es nicht ...blättert derzeit Herbst Winter....
Jean luc how old is that shirt..dude you used to wear silk!!
Great performance, but for sone reason, Mr. Ponty doesn't seem satisified with the tuning / setup of his violin, or something happened to it . However Ponty weathered through it like the professional he really is
Is that Keith Carlock on drums?
No, it is Jean Paul Höchstädter.
*it's 'struggle of the turtle TO the sea'....*
Thanks for the hint - you are right, I corrected it
Great stuff. The drummer is not in the same league as the drummers that usually play with Ponty.
But I am enjoying all of the butthurt responses.
+Filthy McNasty ..oops ,, doesn't that mean Jean has lost it?
JazzKeyboardist1 Not at all.
all right.. So Jean is just too cheap to pay for a great drummer on this gig.
Yeah... I hear ya, Filthy! I'm glad this concert happened-don't get me wrong- But what if Steve Smith had been in the chair.... that snare woulda been poppin'!!!!
I beg to differ
Jean luc should be as shamed of this
Sound like s to me..goes no where.make no sense has no feeling..to maney notes.
