    Muhammed Ali was absolutely brilliant here. He actually stole the show from Lewis. Articulate, quick wit and charming; Ali was a genius at promoting himself. There will probably never be another like him in the world of boxing. He was good for the sport. Not only for his showmanship but for his natural athletic ability and fighting skills. R.I.P. Ali.

    What a class act Ali was, and what a creep Lewis was

    • @tonym994
      @tonym994 Před 5 lety

      it came over that way because ALI is irrepressible. and Lewis has his own show .ALI behind that mic ,would demand the camera stay on him.talk shows are all formula proven. guests come on to plug their latest film or fight, but they don't get to talk non-stop.Lewis paid him an appropriate comment, and he wouldn't even sit thru that .he IS the PT Barnum of boxing except that he often was selling himself, where as Barnum didn't have to dodge punches AND promote.why he ever thought he needed Don King (except to carry his gym bag) is a good question.

      @@tonym994 Good comment Tony. Loved Lewis when I was a kid but got yo say he always came across as "Buddy Love" on his show. Bit disturbing how he effectively disowned his daughter who is homeless.

      @@Chuckychazzathank you, but all our idols have feet of clay (no pun).ALI thought nothing of smacking a woman when she'd get on his nerves.but I don't think he bothered against his TAE KWON DOE belt holding wife in the mid-70's. and I think Buddy Love was probably closest to the real Jerry, anyway. I don't remember him having a show, just hosting for JC once in a while. I happen to think he was hilarious in his movies.I like Woody Allen ,too.not everyone howls w/ laughter at those guys, but I do. and CLAY/ALI was actually very funny at times. I remember my Dad (who didn't care for ALI personally)and me howling at ALI promoting a fight.''I'm knockin' out all bumbs''.the doc 'Brains ,Skill, and Guts'( 90 mins) is the best one on ALI, except that they didn't have moving pics of the Foreman fight, unfortunately. if Liston was 'deposed' by gangsters, or whoever, it was precisely because ALI was a born promoter, and they(as well as Jerry) recognized this. Liston, Patterson,Frazier, were just not nearly as entertaining as him.and he could flat out box!

    as for people hating on Jerry you gotta understand they there had never been an African American athlete like him before and white America had to adjust to the shock of this brilliant charismatic articulate man who was also a fighter. let's not forget how young Ali was. for him to be that poised around a heavyweight icon like Lewis was phenomenal imo
