    Additional Information & Updates:
    1. Lithium Battery Life - it’s been a month of daily use (2 drinks) and the Lithium has lost just one dot of battery. Even with heavier use you’re looking at recharging around once a month. Think about that in the context of a mobile phone battery, it’s charged everyday or sometimes multiple times a day and has a lifespan of around 3 - 4 years. So theoretically the battery in the Lithium should last 30 times longer that! This may not be a super accurate assumption but even if it’s 25% true you don’t need to worry about the batteries needing replacement for a very long time.

    • @Theplebs
      @Theplebs Před rokem

      Sounds like you are selling something. Comparing it to a phone battery is a very bold claim to say the least. What matters are the available mAh of the battery and the current that the nano foamer draws and is recharged with, next to the exact lithium type and quality.

    • @aramse
      @aramse  Před rokem +9

      @@Theplebs we have no reason to sell this. We make nothing from it, not even from affiliate links. Also the last line of the comment clearly says that the comparison is not super accurate but if even a fraction of that were true then you don’t need to worry about your batteries. And yes this all heavily depends on the quality of the battery and one can only hope that it is good :)

    • @Theplebs
      @Theplebs Před rokem +1

      @@aramse No problem, I appreciate your presentation! Yet, why not offer the capacity info: it's 1200 mAh @ 3,7 V. The higher voltage explains the higher rpm. However, one could use rechargeable lithium AA-size batteries in the normal nano foamer that cost around 15 Euros and have stable 3 V with 2200 mAh.

    Loved the v1 and got 1.5 years out of it, three coffees a day. Got the lithium and really looking forward to doing 400ml of milk for two drinks at the same time! Glad to hear you think the milk glides better, some friends and I had started to add a small percentage of water to the milk to mimic the water that a steam wand adds to get it behaving more similarly.

    this device sounds really cool.
    one upgrade that could be done is to have the whole head as a single metal piece (impeler+screen), since it is attached with a screw mount.
    in my experience, if the item has an internal battery the company should provide access to replacements and the device should be easily reparable. If none of this is done, than I stick with the AA/AAA batteries.
    great video once again.

    Got the lithium model for my birthday and it's way better than the gen 1. I actually prefer a normal milk frother over the gen 1 mainly for rpm. I think this is due to the fact that I froth just over a cup of milk every morning. So the gen 1 just didn't cut it. But the new lithium model fixes all that. An unlike a normal milk frother it's way more consistent. Love it.

  • @Kuchenrolle
    @Kuchenrolle Před měsícem

    I also used to use the V1 and then switched to new lithium version. I agree with everything you said, it's a much better experience. And while it is quite a bit more expensive, especially in comparison to other milk frothers, spending those extra 20 just saves you so much frustration, even if you already have rechargeable batteries, I would still recommend the lithium version.
    The only complaint I have is that the quality of the milk foam simply isnt the same you get with a proper steam wand. It looks good, it pours well, but the structural integrity is lower und the mouthfeel is also not quite there. But that's fine. In combination with the induction Brikka and my trusty Kingrinder K6, this is such a great setup for traveling.

    heating is the main problem of the workflow. do you use subminimal's pitcher directly on an induction stove to heat the milk? they claim it is induction compatible but there is no induction stove with such small circles. so you either have to heat milk in a separate pot then transfer to the pitcher or heat the pitcher submerged in another pot of water. the only other options are getting one of those induction plates like from bialetti that have safety concerns or using a microwave.

  • @replaygeorge

    Regarding batteries: fortunately there are very performant rechargable batteries on the market nowadays. I don't mean high capacity NiMh ones, which have a lower voltage by the way (1.2 Volts). I mean true Li-Ion USB rechargeable AA batteries. There are a bit expensive, but they are totally worth it for a number of applications. They hold power up to the last hours of use, while the more usual NiMh rechargeables tend to lose their power with use time. I use Li-Ion AA rechargeables from EBL and Baseus (more affordable). But the availability of the brands might depend on where you live. These batteries have a hidden led under the plus terminal, so when you recharge them, the led changes status (so you know if it's fully charged or not). Also, this is a much more enviromental friendly solution, think of the many alkaline batteries you can replace.

    It’s 4000 rpms for lithium model, not 14000. V2 is 3000 so lithium is 33% faster, not 300%. Otherwise nice review. I strongly suggest to buy lithium version and forget V2. In my opinion this should not even exist and is quite useless. At first I’ve bought V2 and battery drain was huge. Also speed was very unstable, especially with NiMH batteries. Probably with 1.5V li-on batteries it would work better but extra speed of lithium version is worth every penny. Imo it makes no sense to buy battery version. The device will break sooner before the battery needs a replacement. Shelf time of lion batteries are 5 - 10 years and because this is charged every couple of weeks battery can last very long time.

    I see demos with foaming wands that show a lot more milk than I would use for a cappuccino. I probably use only 2 to 2 and a half ounces of milk. Is that enough milk for the NanoFoamer to work or do I need at least 4 -6 ounces of milk?

    They could've just made a version with a replaceable 18650/20700 lithium battery instead of a built-in one/AA battery option instead the device is doomed to die a forever death like earbuds. This solution could give them even more sales and more brand recognition had they done this for their customers in the market. Great review btw, very informative.

    As you recharge the lithium battery over time the battery capacity will degrade, and with it- useable voltage. Not being able to replace the battery’s would end up being a big downside of it.
    Same reason I wouldn’t use rechargeable batteries in the V2.

      Came to the comments to say this might be an issue depending on how replaceable they made the lithium battery.
      Although, I don't see the issue with rechargeable batteries in the v2. Sure, they'll loose capacity eventually, but it's still cheaper to replace them when they don't have enough capacity than if you'd bought disposables the whole time.

    The biggest weakness of the Nanofoamer is that it doesn't heat up the milk. If you don't need portability, spend a similar amount of money on an electric steamer like a Salter EK3131 that uses an 870W heating element and a 240 ml boiler. Just ignore its other coffee-related claims. It's only useful for streaming milk.
