i was this summer in dhermi... it was the best destination in my live... and i was all around europe and turkey... but dhermi is so unik and beautiful... dont feel like in europe because it have some caribean feeling...!!

I'm thinking about visiting this place this year with my family. The beach and water quality looks amazing. Can you tell me something about the city though? Is it big? Touristic? How are the prices? How is the food quality? What places are near the city and a MUST to visit? What hotels would you recommend?
We are just a bit scared that we might get bored when the sun goes down. We'd like to have variety on our vacation.

Granozz Bozz Hi Granozz, I'm glad you chose Albania as your vacation destination. This video shows the beauty of Dhermi and it's crystal clear waters but if you are searching for more activities there are very little options. Dhermi is more like a big village than a town. There are dinner restaurants and cafes but no night clubs or big stores for shopping. There are beach parties arranged in summer time but I'm not sure exacly when, usually they last for a few weeks in July / August and there are many famous DJs playing.
If you are looking for a good beach and a city then Saranda is the place to go. Saranda is a very old city with history, culture and tourist tradition. There you can also find many restaurants and shopping possibilites and a very nice avenue along the beach full of bars, restaurants and entertainment.
And from there it's easy to get to other beaches near by for example Ksamil 13 km from Saranda with several sandy white beaches. For tourist attractions you can visit the ancient city of Butrint and the Blue Eye, a deep blue spring of clear water.
The other alternative is Vlora which is also a big city by the coast line with long sandy beaches. Also Durrës is the biggest city by the beach with more than 30 km of coast line.
There are numerous places to visit in Albania but for the first visit I suggest you Saranda to start.
Prices are from 40 to 80 € in a reasonably good hotel. Appartment you can find cheaper. Food is excellant and cheap. The food is mostly Greek, Italian and Turkish style and of course there are also traditional foods available that are very delicious.

thirdman26 I forgot to mention that i have already been in Saranda last year. We visited Butrint and the Blue Eye and of course we also visited Ksamil. By far the BEST vacation i have ever had! Now that i think about our vacation last year it makes me want to go there this year again :)
We still have a couple of weeks left to decide where we wanna go but I'm sure you cant go wrong with any place in Albania.

Granozz Bozz Let me give you some pointers. You visit Albania to find yourself, enjoy Family time or enjoy something absolutely New and fascinating. Albania is that kind of a country, its scenery is biblical and makes you think. Its so cheap there that you will find it amazingly comfortable. Locals are really respectful and polite. Food quality = 100% organic. Berat is a supernice city in the South, With no beaches though, but you have Vlora in the South which has it all, Nice beaches, Nice resorts and historic sites and museums. When the sun goes Down, there are usually Nights at the hotel including live Music, valsing or folk Dances.. lot of hotels arrange stuff. Try New Food, go on a Food safari, you sure will afford everything in the menues.. If you like the herb, ask any Young People they hook you up With home grown strains. Water quality is flawless in South Albania. Let me assure you of this one thing: You cant get bored in Albania.
It's a village it has one market and you should be prepared to be a lot for food. I have a house for rent 30 euro a night there's another one hotel MONDI that is awful and €50 a night

Hello. Can you advice - which of these three beaches is better - Dhermi , Palase and Drymades? As we are planning the vacation and don't know where exactly book
the apartment.
Olga Bezhevets drymades is better beach and there are nice apartmens. In palase there is not any of apartment near by even palase beach is one of the best, and in dhermi there is many apartment but I like more drymades.
