I lost my first husband to drinking & driving he was 32. Unfortunately it was his fault, he had to go party with some friends and he failed to stop or pulled out on the interstate in front of a loaded semi. He was dead at the scene I never got to see him, I sent his body down to his mother to be with his dad & younger brother. The mayor of the town he was by asked me to let them put his car or what was left of it in front of the school so the kids could see it, it was full of beer cans. This was back in 89 when they still had the big boat cars, there wasn't much left. It was a very sobering moment in my life. I had always worried about DWI's, but never that.

Having a disoriented drunk driver do a field sobriety test is dumb. Injuries from the accident and head trauma can significantly affect the outcome of the FST.
There is a simple answer for not having to take an FST. DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!!! Then the teens or adults for that matter will not have to worry about the consequences of drunk driving. U choose the behavior, then u also choose the consequences

Respectfully saying sir this is why I didn’t drive in high school cause this situation was was always a factor in teenagers driving. It just doesn’t make sense to drink and drive just to fit in and be in the cool popular crowd I almost went to a after school dance party but me and my dad and I think we had an officer that was sitting in the front seat And I had binoculars we parked at least five houses from the original location of the underage drinking house and there were teenagers carrying a 24 can pack of nataural lite I said to my pops let’s get the hell out of here so I can live to see another day But that’s why back in high school that no one cared about me except the teachers and the administration every one else was a money grubber the girls in high school only wanted me for my money etc so back in high school I was a social out cast cause one of the students wanted me to take my home coming date to a hotel when I was 16 or seventeen but I didn’t want to do that so but anyways if you’re ever asked to join what I have said in my this here comments please really think twice and long and hard bout it think bout the consequences of drinking and driving instead of trying to be cool and throwing your life away

Does it matter that this presentation is fake? My son was killed by a drunk driver and I had to identify his body. I gave him a hug and remembered all the times I had hugged him - when he was a baby, when he skinned his knees playing baseball and even when a girl broke his heart. And I gave him another hug for all the hugs I would never be able to give him again. If a cop pulls you over because you're drunk - be grateful - he probably saved your life and someone else's too. Please make a plan BEFORE you go out and drink.

Why does the one drunk driver gets 49 years prison sentence and another one gets 42 years, people died in both cases.Then you get drunk drivers who was sentence to 8 years and another one sentence to 14 years, also people died in both cases.One person is charge with manslaugter and another one is charge with second degree murder. Why the different sentences for the same kind of offence?

person whether he/she is old or young will get behind a car,s wheel with the intention to kill/murder someone.I do feel very sorry for the loved ones of the deceased.I do also feel sorry for the drunk driver and his or hers parents, 49 years is a very long time for a mistake you made while you were a teenager. He disrupted their future, so he needs his future disrupted also. He should have thought long and hard about his future plans, before he got behind the wheel drinking to begin with. THERE'S NO GOING BACK WHEN IT COMES TO DUI. DUI IS A LIFETIME DESTROYER.
DUI OR DWI is the least of your worries, I always worried about my first husband getting a DWI, cause it was me that paid the price, he always made sure he had his drinking $$$$. It wasn't until he was killed in a DWI driving accident that it brought me up short. :( I was just glad he never took anyone else's life.
I know these are like movie sets, but there is a message; drinking and driving don't mix. At all.
It is selfish, and if my opinion, should be classified as vehicular homicide. Period. Morons make the conscious decision to drink before driving. We shouldn't go easy just because intoxication. Either that, or get rid of alcohol as a whole. It's problematic. I know many will say that's too harsh, but what do you expect? It isn't something you REQUIRE to live, and it causes addiction, car accidents, drunken rages, liver failure and brain problems.
The decision to drink and drive is selfish, and if it results in death, we can't be light on this. Lock them up and throw away the key.

If this was to happen to my kids in the future
1. If he/she decided to drive whilst drunk you deserve what you get especially killing someone
2. If the person still lives after killing mine that person would not make it to court and if so id do everything in my power to end theirs slowly!
3. No excuses to go behind the wheel whilst intoxicated, it's on TV, commercials, alcoholic beverages it's basically everywhere you chose the action whatever happens you deserve the book thrown at you

They have high school kids play the parts and keep their names to drive the message home to their classmates. However, the story lines I have heard are based on events that actually happened. Kids who commit drunk driving crimes that people end up dead in do go to jail.
