I love learning anything about Karen, I'm 62 and have always loved her singing and their music.

Even coming through a phone playing on stage, her voice is angelic and crystal clear!

I'll never forget where I was when I heard that she'd died... I'd been out of the hospital for anorexia for about a month- a bit less. Shocked me. I spent many of my high school days after school singing the Carpenter songs before my folks got home.

I absolutely love the Carpenters and discovered them when I was 19 years old, so I’ve been a fan for 20 years now, more than half my life! I consider Karen my vocal teacher as I realized I could sing in the lower range ( I was a soprano in high school choir). I can’t wait to see this documentary as I feel the truth is important to tell as well as giving Karen her voice. My CZcams and blog celebrate the music of the Carpenters and I’m proud to be a fan of the younger generation. Wish I could have known her but I always feel close to her whenever I sing their music!!

I was in Jr. high when she died and our Band/Choir director, Mr. Robert Landry, a big fan of the Carpenters, had the choir perform an all-Carpenters program in '83 and '84. Rip.

I wasn't there, obviously...but I feel badly for Richard to an extent, because I have seen a number of interviews that he has given, and I don't think he deserves to be portrayed as a monster or as, in this case, "the elephant in the room". I think he has spoken quite candidly about the life he and Karen led, and the dilemma Karen's (then) little-understood illness presented to everyone who loved her. It doesn't surprise me that he is "done" with movies about the Carpenters; who among us would want our family members and relationships dissected publicly and in a negative light, time and time again? I'm guessing very few of us, if any. I don't know his reasons for having produced the TV movie over which he is criticized for maintaining creative control, but since he clearly didn't need the money, my guess is that he expected other movies to be made that would, in his view, portray him, Karen, and their family dynamics somewhat unfairly, and felt defensive.
