Masopust Prague - 2024

‘Masopust’ is an old Czech word that means ‘meat fast’. It essentially is the Czech word for Carnival or Mardi Gras. ‘Masopustní průvod’ translates to Shrovetide in English. Masopust is celebrated all over the Czech Republic and is the period of feasting and fun before the start of Lent.
In 2024, it took place between February 8 and Ash Wednesday which calls on February 14, 2024. However, a few pre-carnival celebrations began as early as January.
