I feel like I need to explain further why this video took so long. I've known roughly all of this information since 2020. The reason I didn't just put out a video then is because I realized the importance of this, not only to the community but to myself personally. The things that I discovered about this person that I have never met in my life is crazy. I knew that I needed to give saRy and his story justice. I needed it to be as good as I could make it, and the pieces only just now fell into place for this video to happen. I apologize for the super long hiatus, but I hope this video at least partially makes up for it. I don't know how long it's gonna take for me to start streaming. In all honesty, I'm nervous to start, because I don't want to fumble on myself and it's the worst thing ever in front of 100 people. I also don't have the most amount of time in the world? I don't know. Huge thanks to everyone who has supported me. I really want to thank the people in my small friend group who supported me through thick and thin. I don't think I would have been able to close this out if I didn't have the support of them. I hope you all enjoyed. 💙
A few things to note: - Ship physics got a massive overhaul in Update 2.0. Its changes made straight flying easier, while making precise, quick diagonal flying MUCH harder. That needs to be taken into account when discussing ship physics in old mobile screenshots. - Similarly, saRy's Hell Zone completion was (possibly) before the level was nerfed significantly. For example, the level notably had a precise orb timing which was changed into a pad at the VERY start of the level. - Silent Club had a secret way in it. It's not impossible to consider that scary took it to beat the level, keeping its existence hidden until Cyclic discovered it and got the level unrated. Otherwise, great video all around. You still put out high quality content years after your last upload.
I've heard about all of those points, but there was only so much that I could fit. I wanted to mention The Hell Zone being dubiously impossible on mobile, but I only wanted to deal with concrete evidence. Everything you mentioned is absolutely true though! Great work

Silent Club’s “secret way” does not even work on update 1.6, as the cube falls slightly higher than the portal. It was added there just for fun, as confirmed by P2Sfull himself about a year ago, saying he made it “as a joke”

As a player that was rather active back in 2014-2015 in the Google+ community, I wished I tried to research more on SaRy honestly. He was someone that I always kept at the back of my mind throughout the years and was one of my inspirations to start star grinding back then, along with Cyclic. It's weird knowing that not many people remember the impact he genuinely had in the community back then, just because he stopped playing. This was a great video to give homage to him.

Hey so I need to add something. I don't know where I have heard this, if it was a lie told to me by someone or if I even made that up. Let me explain. Apparently there was a meeting hosted within the GW/a meeting some Korean players that could be affiliated to the GW. Did saRy partake in it? I don't know, did this ever happen, heck I don't even know. All I remember is that there was a meeting which I think I was told he did in fact partake in. I am 99% sure this is bogus, I've always held an interest, even close to a decade ago in history and especially mysterious/foggy/undocumented history. fair to say in early 2015 I wanted to know what happened in 2013/14. There is a good chance I made that up myself just to argue with someone, that's the most likely scenario. Though this is so old that I cannot be sure. It may as well have been told to me. I was once in contact with KeIas, Lightning back in the days, to join the GW which as a 13 yo Frenchman was pretty complex. Either way this is one of the info sitting in the back of my memory that I cannot prove nor disprove. If anyone has heard of that it would be nice for you to come forward, I'm as intrigued as you all. Also and while I'm at it, I've heard/read somewhere about a drama involving Kudabe and the Korean community as a whole. On this one I am way more certain it's nothing I could have invented for the sake of an argument. Though again no prove, I tried asking SuperSNSD but he has never heard of it so it has probably happened while he was doing his military service, that should have then happened in or close to 1.6. As far as I know it was pretty heated, made Kudabe not so appreciated within the community and devided quite a bit said community. EDITS/Video Corrections: -Demonov is a level by lenov, it is also the level that black P2SFull (silent club creator) that become his new nickname: Play 1107696 from the top of my head. It was largely loved by the Korea community and pushed to rated. -Tbf it's most likely he left because of military -You are absolutely right there is no proof he cheated, it's possible he hacked some due to pressure. My theory would be that he felt compelled to prove he was the best and resorted to hacking. It's unlikely in my opinion that he hacked his stars/most demons. Though while I have no proof the accusation has pretty much none either. -I haven't mentionned that but I really like your conclusion -I also do not recall red World being ever rated, in fact I actually remember being surprised when I was playing that it was not getting rated, though I cannot prove for certain what I'm saying is true. @@Lation I've been around since 2.1's release and I remember VERY WELL that Red World was rated during that time. I remember it specifically being a Medium Demon, not sure why, and I remember playing it and figuring out that it was impossible. I then have a separate memory of checking again somewhere around a year later and finding it being unrated. I very specifically remembering noticing at that time that it was unrated now where it had previously been rated. There is always the chance that I could be mis-remembering, but I'm really confident in that memory.

to say this documentary was entertaining is an understatement. this was such an amazing video that i was completely invested in from start to finish. i can't believe how after your 3 years of research, which btw is absolutely insane, that you were able to discover Red World being nerfed, which is even more insane. even now, after so many years, we're learning more new things about this $4 square game's complicated history. i'm proud of all the effort and passion you put into this project. it definitely paid off in the end, and i wish you luck with university!!
I love the music taste influence from great creators like LEMMiNO and EmpLemon. Definitely learned a few things about saRy while watching this, and thanks for making an archive; I will be checking that out. Two very small mistakes I noticed were: Firstly, at 4:00, which shows the wrong year in the date. And Secondly, not an issue with the video itself but rather the subtitles. There were a few parts were the subtitles did not exactly match what was being said, but that doesn't really matter. What I did find interesting is 13:40, which seems to include a sentence that was later removed from the script(?). In all seriousness, this is a nice documentary about saRy and I thank you for that. Double thanks for adding subtitles, that really shows class. I believe you'll make it big someday, in whatever you focus your efforts on! :3
I always loved checking his profile for updates on his progress, and remember when toe 2 dropped and he went from the white default icon to the green toe 2 monster. Even made a level trying to recreate the icons, I was still relatively young at the time and just made random stuff

I only recently started playing Geometry Dash and don't know what half the portals do, but this was one of the most interesting documentaries I've ever seen
I love videos like this that dig into the stories of old players. Id be interested in a video about pretty much any of these somewhat mysterious old players like Dorabae, Neptune and maybe even someone like True Nature and Gelt would make an interesting video to be honest. I just really enjoy stuff about the early days of the community. By the way, this was my gd video of the year for 2023

I have a lot of problems with this video. Red World was never rated before 2021. The level broke because the block used was changed in a PATCH of 1.9, not the update itself. RobTop didn't fix the level either, an elder mod had fixed it and it was only rated because of the misconception that it HAD been rated previously (which no proof has ever came of this and is safe to assume it never was). hate WAR was physically impossible on release and was technically the second sign of saRy being a hacker. The level got fixed around the release of 1.7 and reuploaded with a small block added. The Hell Zone and The Hell World clips you showed were of the remakes, which aren't 1:1 in terms of gameplay. Both have nerfs to them (due to the absurdity of some of the unnerfed timings), and thus don't count as "mobile completions of the originals". Also, this proves saRy hacked The Hell Zone with speedhacks as the level isn't possible on native 60hz mobile, similarly to how unnerfed Stereo Demoness requires high fps because both players played presumably on 0.25x speedhack, which acts like 240tps on mobile. Auto Demonov is simply an auto version of Demonov by Lenov, it's not its own level and it shouldn't have been presented as such. I discovered that Red World screenshot years ago and the only reason no one payed attention to it was because its the only screenshot that shows anything different of it. Had more screenshots existed, it would've definitely been noticed a lot more. Also, Red World Classic is insanely unfaithful to the original and it assumes things that likely didn't exist, just because you assume the level was way harder than it presumably was, and the SaRyArchive Twitter isn't useful as the entirety of GW was archived around last year and is on the Internet Archive in full. Also, you put October 5, 2023 instead of October 5, 2014.

Ive been in both GD since Christmas 2013 and GW since only a few days later, maybe New Year 2014. As someone who talked to players like LunarSIMG, Cyclic, and of course, saRy, over the great forum, this is perhaps the best documentary about GD ever. If you decide to do another one I recommend 3xot1c, hes quite the mysterious figure like saRy, but unlike the latter, 3xot1c truely is mysterious and not just forgotten about. literally today i was thinking about how few videos about saRy are out there, because of being absolutely forgotten, and then, this documentary popped up on my feed
great video, and also really informative, i'm not very old in the community even though i've been playing since 1.8/1.9, but i always wanted to know about saRy, since i remember seeing his name a lot of times over the years

@@Lation I've been around since 2.1's release and I remember VERY WELL that Red World was rated during that time. I remember it specifically being a Medium Demon, not sure why, and I remember playing it and figuring out that it was impossible. I then have a separate memory of checking again somewhere around a year later and finding it being unrated. I very specifically remembering noticing at that time that it was unrated now where it had previously been rated.
There is always the chance that I could be mis-remembering, but I'm really confident in that memory.

to say this documentary was entertaining is an understatement. this was such an amazing video that i was completely invested in from start to finish. i can't believe how after your 3 years of research, which btw is absolutely insane, that you were able to discover Red World being nerfed, which is even more insane. even now, after so many years, we're learning more new things about this $4 square game's complicated history.
i'm proud of all the effort and passion you put into this project. it definitely paid off in the end, and i wish you luck with university!!
I love the music taste influence from great creators like LEMMiNO and EmpLemon. Definitely learned a few things about saRy while watching this, and thanks for making an archive; I will be checking that out.
Two very small mistakes I noticed were: Firstly, at 4:00, which shows the wrong year in the date. And Secondly, not an issue with the video itself but rather the subtitles. There were a few parts were the subtitles did not exactly match what was being said, but that doesn't really matter. What I did find interesting is 13:40, which seems to include a sentence that was later removed from the script(?).
In all seriousness, this is a nice documentary about saRy and I thank you for that. Double thanks for adding subtitles, that really shows class.

I always loved checking his profile for updates on his progress, and remember when toe 2 dropped and he went from the white default icon to the green toe 2 monster. Even made a level trying to recreate the icons, I was still relatively young at the time and just made random stuff

I only recently started playing Geometry Dash and don't know what half the portals do, but this was one of the most interesting documentaries I've ever seen
I love videos like this that dig into the stories of old players. Id be interested in a video about pretty much any of these somewhat mysterious old players like Dorabae, Neptune and maybe even someone like True Nature and Gelt would make an interesting video to be honest. I just really enjoy stuff about the early days of the community. By the way, this was my gd video of the year for 2023

I have a lot of problems with this video.
Red World was never rated before 2021. The level broke because the block used was changed in a PATCH of 1.9, not the update itself. RobTop didn't fix the level either, an elder mod had fixed it and it was only rated because of the misconception that it HAD been rated previously (which no proof has ever came of this and is safe to assume it never was). hate WAR was physically impossible on release and was technically the second sign of saRy being a hacker. The level got fixed around the release of 1.7 and reuploaded with a small block added. The Hell Zone and The Hell World clips you showed were of the remakes, which aren't 1:1 in terms of gameplay. Both have nerfs to them (due to the absurdity of some of the unnerfed timings), and thus don't count as "mobile completions of the originals". Also, this proves saRy hacked The Hell Zone with speedhacks as the level isn't possible on native 60hz mobile, similarly to how unnerfed Stereo Demoness requires high fps because both players played presumably on 0.25x speedhack, which acts like 240tps on mobile. Auto Demonov is simply an auto version of Demonov by Lenov, it's not its own level and it shouldn't have been presented as such. I discovered that Red World screenshot years ago and the only reason no one payed attention to it was because its the only screenshot that shows anything different of it. Had more screenshots existed, it would've definitely been noticed a lot more. Also, Red World Classic is insanely unfaithful to the original and it assumes things that likely didn't exist, just because you assume the level was way harder than it presumably was, and the SaRyArchive Twitter isn't useful as the entirety of GW was archived around last year and is on the Internet Archive in full.
Also, you put October 5, 2023 instead of October 5, 2014.

Ive been in both GD since Christmas 2013 and GW since only a few days later, maybe New Year 2014. As someone who talked to players like LunarSIMG, Cyclic, and of course, saRy, over the great forum, this is perhaps the best documentary about GD ever. If you decide to do another one I recommend 3xot1c, hes quite the mysterious figure like saRy, but unlike the latter, 3xot1c truely is mysterious and not just forgotten about. I can provide you with the little information I know if you decide to make and 3xot1c documentary. Anyways, sorry for the long text wall, good luck on Unnerfed Red World.
