    Yes! I use vent covers. So much cheaper. Now I need those clippers. Thanks!

    This was very helpful! Thank you for sharing. I have a lot of flying pings going on, so I will try these suggestions.

    I usually count the dies in the set and write the total in the top corner of the white card. That way I can check if any are missing. Thanks for the tip of twisting as I do get the pieces pinging around. Will definitely be doing this from now on.

    I've used some of your die cut sets over the years, dear cousin, and I very much appreciated that you labeled each part! Helped me keep track of them so much without freaking out about losing them or putting them back on the correct sheets, lol!

      Yeah it was really useful for a long time! But the last couple times I labeled the backs, it just seemed like the ink never dried completely on the metal.🤷🏻‍♀️

    great video TFS, I try and snip into an old empty embossing powder jar which is full of bits of wire snips but I like the look of the baby wipe so will try that next time as often I miss the jar. I also like the trick with your trimmer blade. I normally use my guillotine but a great idea for using our old blades up too. I write how many dies are in the set and I always check before i put away I have the right no.

      @christygetscrafty  Před rokem

      Yeah, I think a jar would be harder to aim for. Maybe the baby wipe will make it a bit easier for you! Thanks for watching!🙂

    Thank you for this video. I do similar, I use a damp paper towel to collect the tips, then throw away. Gonna switch to baby wipes. Otherwise I do the same. Really want to slowly buy magnetic vent covers for all my sets. Would love an updated package and labeling video. Thanks again. Hugs.

      The baby wipes are easy to have right on hand. No extra step of getting them damp, so I like having them. And the updated packaging and labeling video is coming very soon! Stay tuned!🥰

    Great video! :) I recently started to twist when I cut the smaller bits, it helps a lot! No more flying objects! :) We don't have vent covers here in Sweden, I have looked in the different hardware stores but no.. We don't have the same kind of venting system here.. They seem sturdy! :) I have tried a lot of cheaper magnetic boards but almost all of them are very bendy... :( I store mine in the stamp sleeve the stamp comes in so that's fine but I need a good board for the stand alone dies... The search continues! :) Hugs!

      The twisting does really help! That’s too bad that you don’t have the vent covers there. They aren’t super sturdy, still very flexible, but enough to hold everything in place. I usually just slide it out of the pocket right onto my desk, so it doesn’t have to be too firm.🙂

    The tip of twisting the die will make a difference, no more PING, PING, PING! Using another blade for magnets is great idea! I love putting the dies on a magnet! Thanks for the video!

    Hi Christy! Thanks for the tips! I'm looking forward to bringing the wire snips since in my usual store they are sold out. My tip to avoid losing the dies is to write down the quantity next to the name of the die. When I finish using them I count them to check that they are all there. A video of how you store distress inks would be interesting. A big hug ❤❤

    It was so helpful to see you do this. I had heard about twisting, but I was trying to twist the snips rather than hold with the snips and twist the dies. Your way makes much more sense. I purchase non-adhesive magnet sheets -4 × 6" - in bulk from Amazon. I didn't know about magnetic vent covers. I will have to do a price comparison. Brilliant tip to use a separate blade for the trimmer to cut them. Have an awesome weekend, and as always, thank you for your time and inspiration.

    Could you draw around each of the dies with a sharpie onto the magnet so you would know if something was missing?

    • @christygetscrafty
      @christygetscrafty  Před rokem +1

      You probably could with a paint pen. I’m not sure how well they dry on magnets but it might work!🙂

    Thank you for sharing this video with us, it was very helpful! I appreciate all of your insights and tricks. I sometimes label the back of my magnetic sheets with how many dies are in the set, but not too often because I usually don't check it. I have labeled the dies, themselves but the sharpie usually rubs off and I find that annoying, so I don't do it very much. I, also, twist the dies like you do and I have filed them but that is so time consuming. I use those magnetic vent sheets also, but mine come from Walmart and I have ordered some paper size sheets that work pretty well. I have a paper trimmer dedicated to the magnetic sheets but the blades get so dull, so quickly, is there anything you do to extend the life of the blade? I really enjoyed this video and would love for you to do one where you show your labeling of them. I know you already did this, but, I would love an updated craft room tour. Maybe it's still, pretty much, the same as your last one but it would be interesting and I think, give a different perspective than the last time you did it. Anyway, great video and thank you for sharing it. I will be referring to it many times as I cut my dies apart. Have a beautiful weekend. Big hugs and lots of love!

    • @christygetscrafty
      @christygetscrafty  Před rokem +1

      Yeah I don’t know why the Sharpie started rubbing off. If the marker has changed or if the metal of the dies have changed? My old ones don’t come off, but the newer ones do, so I don’t bother anymore. That’s good to know that Walmart has the magnetic sheets too! I’ll have to look into that. I got worried when Lowe’s stopped carrying them. I even tried to order them online, but they said they couldn’t get them in. Thankfully Hope Depot still had them last time I was there. When I go, I always grab 4-5 packs so I have them for a while. I don’t have any tips to extend the life of the blade, except to use it for only that one thing. Mine usually do last a long time. Even if it gets dull it still seems to cut through with a little extra pressure. The updated labeling video is coming soon, and I want to do an updated craft room tour, but I need to buy a tripod first. I can’t even watch my old one because shaky videos make me so motion sick. So I’ll get around to it, after I do some research on tripods and pick one. Hopefully this Spring or Summer!

    Curious do you catalog your stamps and die sets??? If so do you have a video on that?❤

    • @christygetscrafty
      @christygetscrafty  Před rokem +1

      I don’t. I just flip through the stamp pockets when I’m looking for what I need. I have a pretty good memory when it comes to which sets I own.🙂

      @@christygetscrafty I'm thinking of doing what you did, but glue or double sided tape to the back of the packaging to help show what the dies are. I think it might work.
