- Today's card making hack is mind blowing! It saves so much time and frustration when die cutting with detailed dies. Do you get tired of poking out the small pieces? If so, watch along and see how to save hours of frustration!
Here's how to use this trick. Next time you're die cutting with a detailed die, just lay down a dryer sheet onto your base plates, lay your paper and die over the top, and then run it through your machine like usual. When you remove it from the machine, carefully lift the die cut away and watch all the small pieces stay in place stuck to the dryer sheet. Amazing!

Did you know there is a less wasteful way to use the sheets. Just cut a small piece of the dryer sheet and rub it over the cut edge of the die. And cut on card as usual. I have hard a box of sheets for at least 2 years and still have plenty left.
This is a tip I'd heard before but thought I'd misunderstood that when I saw this tip...but going to try just rubbing over first. Thank you
Wow, I did not know about leaving the die on when using the brush!
Another thing that works for me is a single layer of good parchment paper… I purchase mine at a natural foods store. It’s not silicone coated so it doesn’t dull the die. A thin waxed paper also works well. I mistakenly bought a box which was only waxed on one side and I use it for crafting.
The best use for dryer sheets!
Ooh! So after you’ve removed the cut, add press & seal to the top, and transfer to the next project! 🎉
Love this too. Tfs!!
Wax paper or parchment paper works really well.
Fabulous idea! Thank you!
Pretty cool tips!!! Thanks!
Will have to try this. Thanks for sharing!
I love your creativity and great tips! I would love for you to do a video making the sign with the dies and other uses for dies and supplies other than just cards.
What an awesome trick. Thank you.
OK! Seriously great idea! I am going to try this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!
How cool to use a dryer sheet!!
And I do use my brush. But I never thought of leaving the diecut in the die.
Anything to make it easier, I'm in! Lol
Thanks!
Hugs 💟 Suzy
I love the dryer sheet idea and will be trying that. I have the take-your-pick brush end and pad and it's awesome - but the dryer sheet is way cool! Thanks, Anna!
Absolutely brilliant! I love the framed dryer sheet as much as the original! ❤❤❤❤
I was totally using the brush wrong. Thanks.
Love the idea, worked like a charm. Thank you for sharing Anna.
Thanks for the tips
Thank you! Great video!!
Great tip! Thanks!
I can’t wait to try this - could be a game-changer
Cool technique with the dryer sheet!!!
Great solutions. Thank u!!!❤
I love that tool too!
Love this .. Thank You!!
Great tips! 👏👏thank you
I save dryer sheets from weekly wash. Use 2-3 folded, depending on how thick they are. Works great and no problems with my dies. Been using 4 years with no problems
Thank you for this video this was a great hint
I tried this tip with a dryer sheet andand it worked perfectly!!! Thanks so much!
Loved this video
That's amazing!
Thank you!
I really enjoy your videos! Thanks so much for sharing all your ideas.
When I was working with punches, I found he old scissor sharpener trick or aluminum foil followed by waxed paper always works.
Great ideas 💡
Thank you so much Anna, I really really enjoyed watching you show us these tips. Very helpful and useful too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
TY TY TY I'm going to try it right now.......
Amazing thankyou 4 sharing ❤
Oh my! I could definitely used this tip last night. I need to sweep up this morning 😂
I remember this was introduced many years ago and it was said it is bad for your dies so I never used this method. although I don’t know why it would be bad for your dies. Glad to see you using it .
I used to have an issue with intricate die cuts until I purchased an electric die cutting machine (Gemini). This was during the time Stampin Up stop selling the Big Shot but had not released the Stamp, Cut & Emboss machine. Now the pieces just fall out. I don’t need a brush or anything. The pressure is just so much much better than a manual machine.
Hi Anna, I Appreciate you.... Great tips again. Thanks and Blessings, NC viewer🦋
Cool!
I use wax paper for my intricate dies and it helps also
Thanks for these cool and useful tips. I have a rolle r brush but never had any success with it really. The. I see you say keep the die cut in the die! Wow that is news to me so I will have to give it a go. I tend to avoid intricate dies because of all the poking out! Thanks so much. I’ve subscribed.😊
I have heard of this trick, but have never tried it before. Maybe I need to. 😄
Dryer sheets will change the pH of the paper, and it won't be archival.
I use the wax paper inside of cereal boxes, works a treat.
Nice....
Amazing Die Cutting Hacks Girl!
New to your channel and subscribe. 🤩🤩🤩
Try using wax paper also works well foil will also Helps to sharpen your blades and make your blade sharp again
I never left my die cut in the die! Great idea! Thanks! I have the brush & foam pad & do use it. I don’t use dryer sheets in my laundry. I am sensitive to scents & also don’t want the chemicals in them on me.
This is exactly how I am. Dryer sheets are really toxic too I have asthma so it's a no for me. I've never left my die cuts in the die and used the brush, it would curl my dies. This is an awesome tip.
There are now "free and clear" type dryer sheets with no scent if you want to try the die hack!
I had forgotten about using the dryer sheet until recently. I used a new one and it left lots of fuzzy material. I tried a used sheet and seemed to work better. I guess it might be related to pressure of your machine and the sandwich of plates used. I, too, heard it can damage the die but can't seem to find anything to support that.
What that’s amazing. Who knew
I just got my brush tool and excited to use it but love the dryer sheet idea. Doesn't it leave oils in the paper though?
Cool idea, but I'm not so sure about the last idea on leaving the bits on the sheet, cutting around it and then putting that on a card. I would think that the stuff in the drier sheet would probably not ahere well to a card and sometimes those things are so fragrant they would be way to potent put in a card?
I think if all the bits stayed in place, or if you needed to replace a few of them, that if you cover the whole part that you'd want to use to create another card with some Matte Medium, that it would seal it in place once it has dried.
Very good tip! Thank you!
I like using wax paper. For me, it is simple and be cut to any size. It’s cheaper too!😁
Clothes dryer sheet. It is a softener like Bounce.
What colors are on the refreshment card
Thank you. I really needed this right now. Intricate Tree of Life die. About 40 of them needed for invitations!
Perfect!
I use my USED dryer sheets for this.
Great tip. Does this also work with used drier sheets?
Yes it does. I only use the used sheets.
Been doing this for years.
What is that tool called?
👍👍👍❤️
Regarding some earlier comments:
I have a different machine (Sizzix) and it has a precision base plate available that is chrome plated metal. It is made specifically for intricate dies. I don’t understand how using a soft dryer sheet can be any worse than die cutting metal against metal. I have had my base plate for years and my dies have not dulled or been damaged in any way. How can the dryer sheet damage the die?
no idea, but I love my precision base cutting plate too,.. has stopped me from giving up on many a die over the years
I always wondered how you could dull a piece of metal that isn't sharp, to begin with
You don't put the die cut side down on the precision plate, always cut side up.
@@dinabaughman8731
According to Sizzix, the manufacturer of the precision base plate, that is exactly what you do. If you read the instructions on the base plate the sandwich reads - “Standard cutting pad, Place die - cutting edge down, chrome precision base plate, multipurpose platform”. I was just following directions.
Oh!! I have this tool from Temu but I didn't know we were supposed to leave the die in. I've never seen the dryer sheet hack. So cool!
Did you know Temu rips off other companies & designers by stealing their designs?
My pick tool sticky end drops everything. It doesn’t stick
Try the double sided sticky tape.
So would you put dryer sheet on the card as well?
Good job love it dryersheet trick is great, I'm new to this just ordered a few die cats from temugonna try a few before I get a machine and see if I like it. Want to make cards for people.
How do you know so many wonderful tips! Will this work with a used dryer sheet? Or do you have to use an unused dryer sheet? Thank you so much for sharing these tips!
I use Used dryer sheets and it works very well for me.
@@brendajones7756oh, wish you'd said that as I don't have a tumble dryer but the the sheets specifically for this idea ☹️
But bought..
Have used the brush wrong all along!!
What is a dryer sheet?
A piece of tissue paper does the same thing and it is a hell of a lot cheaper.
When I had previously seen this hack, the word was put out that the dryer sheet dulls the cutting areas of the dies.
Yep thought that too
Yes that is what I heard. I saw a video where a rep from the die cutting manufacturer said never use a dryer sheet.
I just rub a dryer sheet over my metal die before I cut the paper out. One dryer sheet will last a lot longer this way.
You can use wax paper. Works better.
@@jospi1844 🎉USE WAX PAPER
I live in Europe. Sorry, but what are dryer sheets? 🤔🤔
This method RUINED my cutting plates! I had to toss them after l couldn’t get the dryer sheet wax off. I also tried using the dryer sheet between the magnetic mat & cutting plate because l had such a problem with static getting shocked removing my plates off the mat. Of course it ruined my mat as well. I tried hot soapy water & alcohol spritzes on the plates & had to toss them. For me, parchment paper, though messy, works best on the intricate or knock-off brand dies. Just my 2¢! 😁
I bought Universal Crafts quick release die paper Non stick twin pack 2 rolls each roll has 5 metres
16.4 feet says Multi- use die paper helps keep your dies clean and cutting edges sharp much better idea than drier sheets
Use the dryer sheet first with clothes, then try this hack. That will have less wX on the plates
Hi Anna. Can you confirm once and for all. Many of us have heard over the years that the drier sheets and wax paper can have a detrimental effect on our dies. That the coating builds up and affects the cutting abilities of the dies. With the cost of our precious tools I'm sure that none of us wants to potentially damage them. Help please. Thanks so much. 😊🇨🇦
It might cause buildup but I can't imagine it would cause any permanent damage. If you notice buildup I would think some rubbing alcohol or other cleaner would remove it well.
@@handmakewithlove thanks so much Anna. 😊
What is a dryer sheet.
It is a product that you put in the dryer to soften your clothes and reduces static. You use 1 sheet for each load.
I was wondering if you could help me figure out something. I bought a embosser machine thinking it was a cut and embosser, but it only embosses. I was a little disappointed. How can I make the embosser work to cut the die cut also, so I do not have to invest a lot of money in another machine?
Use non scented
Works well but would rather spend my money on more die’s than dryer sheets that are not good for the environment x
Please Don't use a dryer sheet! Not only do they contain toxic chemicals but they dull your die.
why such long ads?
QUESTION, Please: ... Did you use a FRESH dryer sheet? Or a "used" one? You showed us a fresh one when demo-ing the layers idea, but the one peeking out from under the teal card stock does not show the crease of a fresh one. Hmmm 🤔 ... I suppose the machine might have pressed that crease out of it!
(( I think I'd grab a piece of Press'N'Seal, smooth that down onto the "bits", pull them off the dry sheet, flip, apply glue, then reposition into the leafy shape ALREADY MOUNTED onto a card base of some coordinating color (or White. Whatever ... ) I don't think I'd trust the dry sheet to hold onto those tiny bits. I suppose you c o u l d gingerly pull o n e layer of the dryer sheet away, and apply glue THROUGH the sheet, and then stick that down on a card base, applying the teal layer, then, over that. ))
I use fresh dryer sheets. I just rub the dryer sheet over my die before running it through my machine.
@@dawnmiller6909 So you don't actually leave the dry sheet IN the "sandwich"?
I don't know which I hate most' a click-bait title, or falling for it, this "mind-blowing" hack has been around forever, so long that there is even an old youtube video warning people "not to dull their dies with drier sheets [or words to that effect, sorry I can't be more certain, I watched it years ago] floating around
Wow thanks again Anna I love intricate dies & hadn’t used them as they are a pain…until now….Ty again for tips 😀🇦🇺🦘🐨
