I did something similar years ago with six old TVs. I played Freddy Kruger coming out in an industrial scene on them, which I built in the basement. Just as Freddy was about to attack, one of my Freddy actors would jump out sparking the floor. Proud to say many visitors wet themselves!😅

I'm so impressed by the dummies and gore props. The most realistic I've ever seen in a haunt.
You know that many of the best scare houses are the ones without scare actors because it's your own anxiety and fear which scares you most. Static props are always the best as you don't know if it's real or fake.

I would have to disagree. I think scripted scare actors are unbeatable when used correctly. The typical run of the mill "ahh!" Or the dreaded "boo!" Is the big downfall to live actors. But when they are placed appropriately and have a refined scare, they are invaluable
@@BroughtToYouByDDean I totally agree. A good actor or a bunch of them can make a very simple haunt setup incredible. The sets here though are NEXT LEVEL. These are really really well done. I like it all. I like people pushing the limits.

Yeah I think so too. They can be useful if they are part of the set to add realism and don't interact with the guest, but when they reach out and yell boo it's just awkward.

@@patrickn8355 the haunt isn’t open right now. So there are no scare actors working. We will be back for a possible summer event otherwise we open late September to the beginning of November for haunt season.
yk all in all the video is cool- but fr why do I always look at the girl? Like why dont you move the camera so we can see more of the rooms and not of the girl?? I am not watching the video to see how your girl react
As someone who doesn't like jump scares, I can fully appreciate this one. It's terrifying in so many ways, primarily because it plays on the fears inside your mind. Thanks for taking us along on another great adventure, Michael and Jessica.
My late Mom Doris VanDecar worked at Eloise from 1954 to 1962 as a Secretary until Wayne County General Hospital no longer around opened up in 1962 and she became the Administrative Secretary. True story there were many cool tunnels in the Eloise Complex when my Mom was working there we'd play in the tunnels my Cousins and me.
So you witnessed any weird stuff while playing with doctors & the patients and stuff? Because many claim that in places like those they were conducting stuff in the past which weren't so decent! Even though you say you were playing in those places i presume all are stories in the end! 😅
@@TwesomE The actual tunnels i played in, Were in the newer hospital as my Mom had long left Eloise by the time i came along. But both Eloise and the newer hospital were all connected by those tunnels. In fact when sadly when they had that airplane disaster at Metro airport on August 16th 1987 that killed 145 people the tunnels were where they stored the bodies until next of kin was notify.

@@TwesomE Yeah that was really sad, And it was pilot error to begin with, I was already living in Central Florida. But i was up in Michigan for my Uncle Jacks funeral he passed away from cancer at 55 my Moms baby brother. I was visiting a friend in Taylor. And a drove right into the area where it happened an hour earlier. Had i waited another hour i very well might have met a tragic fate as well.

The set design is immaculate. Probably the best I’ve ever seen for a haunted maze.
The mannequins are insanely realistic, it's so disturbing but also very impressive!

I knew this asylum right away. Last year I stayed in Michigan and visited Detroit. I rode past this asylum not sure what it was until the bus driver said it's a haunted attraction but it's also supposedly really haunted. When I saw Grimm Life here I'm like I knew I knew this place. Glad they got to see this one.
My cousin works at Eloise as one of the scare actors. If i remember correctly, she said there's paranormal stuff all around, but most of it is where the haunt doesn't take place. She said she's experienced some stuff while working there.

i grew up in Westland , alot of stories about Eloise, the tunnels etc... Alice Cooper was just there a few years ago , they dedicated a street to him right on the property
[Takes off glasses and remembers to breathe] THAT--was the crème de la crème. ABSOLUTELY my favorite haunt that I've ever seen, in person or on video. I have a heart CT in the morning and I am trying to keep my heartrate down until afterwards. Not sure why I decided to watch this tonight, ha! This had me on the edge of my seat. What a stunningly beautiful display! Chef's kiss! 😗🤌🏼

This is the type of ‘haunted’ attraction I look forward to. I’d rather be scared by my own imagination, then rely on scare actor’s to do the work. A bit unnerving sounds, lighting effects, things that catch only the corner of your eye, sometimes is all you need. Do not need things thrown at me, just hinted at, to keep me guessing.

I am a scenic artist who has worked on haunts you have been to, and I have never felt so much FOMO watching another one like I did this one.
You better bring your A+ game to compete with this one. The sheer expense put into this. Soneone is EXTREMELY passionate for this. 11 out of 10
I live in Metro-Detroit (within 25 minute drive of Westland) and never knew this was a scare attraction. It seems like Erebus is always shoved in our face starting August every year. I may have to check this place out sometime.
I live across the state and all we ever hear over here is Eribus and now I’m looking forward to telling people about this one❤️🔥

Eloise is and has been investigated for many years but Erebus in downtown Pontiac gets all the attention.
I would go to Eloise any day and the large cemetery a block or so away with magnificent headstones there. I can't remember the name of it. My brother lived about a mile away years ago and we always passed Eloise back then. On my bucket list for sure

As a guy who has built & run haunts for 15 years, I am truly impressed! The ambient audio and situational audio was the most impressive!!

It's not only a haunted attraction but it also tells a story. This is the best one I've ever seen yall do. It was super creepy. The one that scared me was the two doctors with the patient on the table and their jaw was hanging out. Creeeepy. They did an amazing job with the props, walls and characters.
I'm old enough to remember the State Hospitals, even knew a couple of people that were "sent" to one. While not as unpleasant as this detailed mock up, they were still not the best place to be. Different times.

So cool you got to visit Eloise. I lived near by and would pass it daily (when it was empty) and i always felt like i would see a ghost looking out a window. It definitely gives off a spooky vibe.
The cemetery across the street from Eloise, Is where Rock & Roll Icon Jackie Wilson is buried.
I grew up 5 mins from here and live only 20 mins away currently. My grandpa used to work at Eloise. He has some disturbing stories from back in the day
I agree there's something really scary about old asylums, Jessica certainly had some jump/squeal scares in this. This attraction looks great!

I grew up in Michigan and never knew about this location until we went back for a visit and did a ghost investigation a few years back, I wish they had this attraction back then

Okay holy heckens yes! This whole thing was sooooo amazing ! It’s so funny all the areas of the haunt looked like they fit right in with the asylum! So haunting and spooky, felt like something was gonna jump out at any moment, the part that made my stomach jump was the hallway with the cameras and the morgue. Walking through this with you guys felt like we all escaped the asylum and are on the run! Well done with this one besties, definitely on the books for an amazing adventure! 👻🦇 thank you for this! Going to watch it again and again !
I feel like I’ve seen this asylum on the travel channel before and fell in love with it oddly enough lol it’s just so massive and beautiful and tremendously scary ! Cannot wait to keep watching this!

This was featured on Expidition X with Josh Gates and they got voices and even a shadow person behind Jessica it was on Discovery Channel last year I believe.
I live 10 minutes away and have always been fascinated with this place. This place was huge back in the day, a city in it's self. The cemetary is right across the street all unmarked graves.

This is the most detailed haunt I have seen in quite some time and I've watched a TON of haunts and trails.
This has to be one of the best ones you have gone through. Between sets, props, sounds all make it absolutely terrifying and beautiful! The ones who made it are so talented. I could not even imagine how much more actors could add to it, the haunt is that good. I wish I could see it in person.
this is particularly scary to me, as I suffer from Nosocomephobia (phobia of Hospitals) . I have managed to watch just over 20 minutes, but my anxiety level got to me. I will try and watch the rest at a later date.
Love when you guys do these types of videos. I feel like a lot of times the scare actors actually take away from the experience and the ability to see everything.
I was a delivery driver a couple of decades back and I'm making a delivery that I had never been to before. Stopped the truck, grabbed the package, head to the back of this huge building, ring the doorbell, get buzzed in, open the door and walk through, the door shuts behind me and I could hear it lock... There wasn't a handle on the inside of this door, you're only leaving one way, to get buzzed out.
If some of you have seen Silence of the Lambs when Clarice is going to visit Lecter at the beginning of the movie, and she's passing all those holding cells, well, that was pretty close to it. First time in my life that I was actually scared. I had to deliver this package down this long corridor, difference was, those holding areas weren't cells, there weren't any doors, wide open. Got some fairly strange looks my way to say the least. You can probably figure out what kind of place it was. Got the hell out of Dodge as soon as the package was signed off. lol

the amount of small details that really add to this is INSANE. like at 31:09 the doors on the left have an extra hallway that you don't go down but is still themed since you can see through the window. absolutely incredible
Did you know there's a morgue museum at the Wayne County Morgue, Detroit Michigan? By appointment only last time I checked.

I find wax or models somehow better than scare actors who really aren't as creepy - this is good!
My grandparents lived right across the street from Eloise and as a kid in the 80s there were triple the amount of buildings and it looked so creepy at night. There are a series of tunnels that you could get inside from the outside but there was no way i was brave enough to do it but my older cousins would always sneak in. The amount of bodies buried beneath those grounds is staggering. Looks like they have upgraded a ton since we went a couple years ago. Cant wait to go back.

This is literally one of the best and worst haunted attractions I have ever seen. By worst I mean I can't imagine all of sickening parts of history that happened at the asylum shown throughout. However, it is a crucial part that is true about places like this from back in time that has changed how we deal with people that have mental illnesses and disorders. I know most haunted attractions have similar sections and effects, but this is just so over the top and relatable to horror movies. Considering this is mostly dramatic, it still displays how doctors treated human beings getting away with it for so many years. The amount of detail and creativity that went into every part is just incredible. For how long this attraction goes it just starts to get sad, still creepy, but definitely hits that nerve that this was a part of history nobody will ever forget. The designers definitely knew what they were doing and made it so unique that I do not think any other haunted attractions can beat. A++++ but still makes me wonder the research that went into making each and every detail truly feel real.... Thank you for sharing this amazing tour :)

Glad you enjoyed your time here I live 2 miles from here also when I was 15 in the mid 1960s I went there a few times with a friend of mine to visit his brother. There were so many buildings I remember they would lock and unlock doors behind you when you went in. Very scary at a young age. Did the host also tell you there are unmarked graves the other side of Michigan ave. Those were people who were unknown and no family’s Also have friends that go in at night for the paranormal events 👍

From where I am in Canada, this place is about 6.5 hour drive for me and it looks like it will be a road trip well worth it!

Each setting was so beautifully lit and staged. A real artist's eye in that haunt. Really impressive.
Every time I go up to Michigan to see my grandma (family reunion, Christmas, etc.), we always pass this place and I keep wanting to go there every time.
THE ONE TIME MY PARENTS DRIVE UP THERE WITHOUT ME AND MY GRANDMA FREAKING TAKES THEM THERE. (Last year's family reunion.)

Eloise Asylum in West land Michigan is a classic spooky fixture on Michigan Avenue n has been since turn of last century in the early 1900's, when it originatedbas a poor farm for indigent and mentally challenged individuals. It transitioned to a tuberculosis sanitarium in the 1930's, became a police department n jail n inmate facility in the 1970's, n was closed n abandoned until 2021 when my favourite radio station for classic rock had a contest to name a street or avenue after Alice Cooper cuz he was from the Detroit area, n is a living rock legend, n the street in front of this building at Eloise won n was dedicated at Halloween 👻🎃 time by Alice himself who cut the naming rinbon!!! I LOVE this legendary suburb of Detroits attraction encapsulating our infatuation in Michigan with the macabre!!! Attaboy, Grimmers, fir showcasing this today!!!
