I love your answer about the breeding issue, they are way over bread, most people wouldn’t take care of them correctly, it’s a tough decision but probably the right one. Although, one litter wouldn’t be that bad, if you prearranged possible homes, sanctuary, you could get away with doing it one time. And that would be really awesome. I’m gonna say this again because I always seem to say this, you’re not utilizing the heart shaped shell on his chest plate the best yet. That should be your logo, it should be your brand, and eventually when people see it they’ll know it’s tiptoe without even writing his name. I would immediately buy a sweatshirt or T-shirt or hoodie if that emblem was on it. Would love to discuss marketing with you regarding this, you could raise money for other tortoises, wildlife sanctuary, make money for yourself and tiptoe in your family, it could be extraordinarily awesome.

I saw my next-door neighbours tortoise for the first time this year yesterday (not the same breed). Charlie looks like a mini version of Tiptoe. I can't wait to show my granddaughter him later today when she is here, I expect her to reclassify him as a "doggy" every animal that's not a cat is a doggy at the moment lol 😆 anyhoo enough rambling on. One benefit of contacting a few vets can help quite a lot. It helps in case blood is needed etc. I'm sure you'd be happy if Tiptoe got sick and the Vet knew of a couple shelled friends that could help.. I think all exotic pet owners should.

Hey Caitlin, I have a parrot. Some vets have a specialty. They have a circuit practice and make house calls. This is more common for bird vets. I would think you could find a bird vet to visit Tiptoe on an annual basis. Send me a note, if you need a name.

Tiptoe's table manners are atrocious! Could he be sent to a finishing school? And what about a stoplight and clearly marked crosswalk for Tiptoe's crossing? P.S. If California slides into the ocean, Tiptoe would be a really good friend to hang on to! 🥰
We let the dogs in the enclosure every once in a while (Grace the pitbull always tries to snag his food). Tiptoe gives them the staredown and occasionally tries to "chase" after them. The dogs don't know quite what to do but overall they tolerate eachother pretty well
How sensitive to touch is TipToe’s carapace? Does he like being rubbed? I have visited giant tortoises and know they like having their legs and neck scratched.
My wife rescued our tortoise many years ago. "Tank" may be larger than your guy. My wife passed during covid and I have been trying to find a new home for him. I am 77years old and have found it almost impossible to place him with a new friend. We are on a couple waiting lists at rescue sites but the waiting list is long and slow. Please do not make more tortoises, since there is no way to place adults as many people are surprised by their great size. I fear Tank will have nowhere to go when I pass. I live in southern Calif. Tortoise people are rare.
Do you have or have you had a partner tip toe hasn’t liked? Odd question I know but our pets can be extremely judgemental!! I also ask as that is potentially a new regular person being introduced into the routine.
@@caitlinandtiptoe it is funny how our pets can be judgemental isn’t it! Bring a new regular person into the daily activities and they can either really love them or hate them!
I got him from Alan's Pet Center in Santa Monica :) 21 years ago but they are still open for business. Every once in a while I will go in to check out the sulcata babies
