      Awesome. Thanks for watching. Sharing knowledge is a must. I am thankful for the mentors who shared knowledge with me in the early days and it’s only fair I do the same in return. As with every subject however, there is still plenty more to absorb! 😊🙌🏼

    The Japanese Thinline telecaster at 35mins is a 'super deluxe' Fender did a US run a few years back (2018 I think) as part of the parallel universe collection. the original Japanese ones were that lovely green or black, the later US one was orange

      @@GHguitarauctions I know. I’ve got the orange one. On further research they did the Japanese run in white too. I’ve read claims that they only made 150 of each colour so your green one could be quite a rare guitar….

    • @GHguitarauctions
      @GHguitarauctions  Před 8 měsíci

      Yes, I believe that is correct. We had one of the Orange ones previously and pretty sure we have had another of the Japanese ones. Limited to 150 rings a bell 😊🙌🏼

    Insane number of quality and quirky guitars. Everyone seems to be selling their treasures in 2023 ... a sign of the times?🤔

    • @GHguitarauctions
      @GHguitarauctions  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Perhaps? But there still seems to be strong appetite to buy. The recipe for a healthy market. Thanks is for watching! 😊

    Just to add to the excellent Under the Hood video and re the great JV debate (Japanese Vintage or Joint Venture). My copy of Duchossoir (1994 40th Anniversary edition, pp 26,28) deliberately avoids detailed comment on Japanese Strats. It does however cover the US/Japan agreement using the term joint venture (a known commercial term where business partners share profits or losses e.g. property companies may raise risk capital with lenders in this way). As regards the term vintage, Duchossoir reserves this for US manufactured models.
    So perhaps not conclusive, but further support for the Joint Venture interpretation of the initials JV when looking at serial numbers on Japanese Strats!

      Thanks! Yes… the debate goes on. I was first given the info by someone “in the know” who had association with it all back in the day… thanks for watching! 😊

    Another great video, so thank you, Luke. But GH used to be my friendly, local auction house where I was so happy to sell (and buy!) guitars. Now you've (understandably) gone global and as far as I can see must be the world's leading guitar auction site - so well done. But where does it leave us small collectors (in spite of - or because of - GH I have 35+ guitars)? Do I have to now book a slot in say 2025 to sell my collection?

    • @GHguitarauctions
      @GHguitarauctions  Před 8 měsíci

      Hey Ken! Thanks for watching! There’s always capacity for selling. This is why we manage the placement of the very large collections to ensure there’s room for all. Hope to see you at the Saleroom again soon 😊

    Glorious Gleaming Guitfiddles batman.
    That sure is alot of geetars.
    Over 600 in a single collection!
    Is that the largest single owner collection you've come across?

    • @GHguitarauctions
      @GHguitarauctions  Před 8 měsíci

      I think so! It may actually be over 600…. Thanks for watching ! 😊

    Why don't you like Les Pauls? Any one thing in particular, or just don't get along with them overall?

    • @GHguitarauctions
      @GHguitarauctions  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Firstly I will say that Les Pauls are obviously great guitars (on the whole) and I do like the aesthetic of them. I just really don’t gel with them. I mainly play an SG, which is differently balanced and whilst Les Pauls are better balanced to the masses, they feel alien to me. Also when sat down the neck sits in to close. Not enough contouring ti the body which makes them feel bulky and they are generally heavy. Tonally I find they sound muddier ( I prefer the bite of SG / Flying V Gibsons). This is all a personal thing of course and no reflection on Les Pauls and I appreciate I am well and truly in the minority !! 😀

      @user-ql1pc7pi9x Před 8 měsíci +1

      @GHguitarauctions No I actually agree with you. I have a '68 LP Custom reissue, and a '63 SG Special reissue, and completely agree with you. My other guitar is a Tom Anderson Classic, which feels ergonomically more practical/playable than both Gibsons.
