  • I'm almost a year in to this crawler hobby and the #Absima #Sherpa is the one that started it all for me. So as a slightly early birthday treat for it, I'm putting it on a little diet and treating it to a new body. Hopefully this will keep some nice scale looks, stay close to the original Jeep shell, but improve the weight distribution and performance.
    Paints used (all TAMIYA):

    I am working on a similar project. I am using a Chevy Silverado body. Still torn between using body clips or attempting a magnetic connection. Yours turned out very well!

    • @PhilBrindley
      @PhilBrindley  Před 7 měsíci

      Thanks. Can’t deny that magnets are way better for looks, but on the Sherpas original body I ended up fitting clips as well, just hid them as best I could on the wheel arches. Good luck with the build. 🤙

    Hello, love you channel :) a bit of advice about bleed throughs... when you mask put clear coat first it will bleed through and fill the gaps and when you spray the paint it will be exactly on your masking. Just for your future projects :) keep it up!

    • @PhilBrindley
      @PhilBrindley  Před 2 lety +1

      You could maybe make something similar from the original shell, but gluing lexan is hard work. I bought an MST JP1 shell and made the custom body mounts to fit. I think the Vanquish VS4-10 body would look similar too. 🤙

    • @PhilBrindley
      @PhilBrindley  Před 2 lety

      I'm sure it would be, if you got the right shell. Some of the Land Rover shells are super scale and might not work so well with the chassis and wheels. If you go for the TRX4 shell though you should be golden. Might still need to get creative with mounting though. Good luck. 🤙

      I think they've added it to try and stay true to scale. On a full size it helps with stability at speed I think. I've taken mine off the Sherpa and am not seeing any detrimental effect. Best thing is to give it a try and see how you get on. 🤙
