- Yann Tiersen - Kerber (Piano Solo) | complete / #Coversart
Perfect timing - it seems that the official Yann Tiersen album - Kerber is coming out today, it so happened that having bought a new songbook from one of my favorite composers exactly a month ago - I finally recorded all these wonderful works. After listening to the already released singles (turned out to be extremely electronic-based, love it!, and apparently, the felted piano underwent massive processing), I decided to take a different, minimalistic path - and recorded all the pieces from Kerber with the sound of the usual upright piano, although I chose not the most trivial instrument for performance - Nord Grand. After the recording, I added some automated effects, you will hear that. All the pieces were played live, one after the other - and I think it will be great if you take the time to listen to the entire recording, from beginning to end.
1. Kerlann 00:00
2. Ar Maner Kozh 04:43
3. Kerdrall 10:44
4. Ker Yegu 16:49
5. Ker al Loch 20:53
6. Kerber 26:40
7. Poull Bojer 36:23
From the press release:
Named after a chapel in a small village on the island of Ushant, Kerber marks a new chapter in Tiersen’s career. A chapter still true to Tiersen’s nuanced and subtle approach but one that sets out with his most overtly electronic material to date. Beautifully textured, highly immersive, and thoughtfully constructed, Tiersen creates an electronic world, providing an environment in which the piano source exists.
A sense of place has often been a central theme in Tiersen’s work and here that is no different. Each track is tied to a place mapping out the immediate landscape that surrounds Tiersen’s home, linking back to his thoughts on the possibilities of the infinite smallness.
“I think there is a similarity between the infinite big and the infinite smallness of everything,” says Yann Tiersen. “It's the same experiment looking through a microscope as it is a telescope.”

This album is a modern masterpiece, thanks for interpet it and sharing 👏🏻
I am hardly able to express how much this album means to me. It is something beyond human rationality speaking. It is a journey through an imaginary landscape. It has helped me immeasurably in a difficult time. Thank You for doing this!
It is like that to most of us. Memories, soundscape and unexplainable emotions..
I know exactly what you mean. Except for me the difficult time is the process of getting older.
I’m in love with the originals and never knew about this…great birthday gift ☺️
from beginning to end...done... very nice job, congrats
Thanks!
I pezzi "Ker Yegu" e "Kerber" sono i miei preferiti. Grazie per la tua meravigliosa interpretazione😍
Bravissimo Conversart! Ti ho ascoltato un milione di volte. Infatti sto provando a suonarne un pochino io😊🤩

Going to be one of my favourite ones :)

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THANK YOU FOR THIS GREAT VIDEO CLIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for posting this so fast. 👍🏻
Just beautiful 😌😍🌾
Really am enjoying this album!
Bravo Coversart!
Incroyable ❤️

„Poull Bojer“ and „Ker al Loch“ are my favorites 🙏🏼 Thank you very much 4 sharing! I love this genius! (Some parts of Poull Bojer reminds me of Interstellar)

This is phenomenal! Amazing playing and interpretation! And such a beautiful piano sound .... Is this the natural sound of the Nord Grand? And you write that you added automated effects after the recording ....I wonder if you may be able to share a bit information about this? Which effects did you use? Any tips for a pianist hoping to achieve a similar sound to this? Many thanks for your beautiful music.
Thank you very much, David! It's just a Nord Grand sound, patch Amber Upright, which means it was probably sampled from the Grotrian-Steinweg Concertino model.
In addition, I also used the same external Lexicon reverb (hall) on all tracks. (not because the reverb of the Nord Grand itself is bad, no - it is excellent, but just to be able to choose the space and its level after recording) As for the automated effect, I am now far from the working computer, and I can not accurately report the whole chain - but it is obvious that the main thing is a very long reverb (there was some kind of modulator in front of it, or whatever you want to create the necessary atmospheric landscapes) and actually you have two options - either send the entire recording to this return track with an effect, and the level can then be adjusted by automating the volume fader of this return track. Or to dose the level of "sends". In general, nothing unusual and complicated. And to be honest, I wouldn't bother with effects if I was recording this album on a good grand piano or upright piano in a room with good acoustics. Still, the digital nature of the Nord Grand has its limitations, and for example, some slow pieces with a small number of notes require some more variety, and here FX can come to the rescue. On the other hand, Nord Grand has its own advantages.
@@coversart - Huge thank you for this amazing reply, I truly appreciate it. It's a very beautiful sound that you achieve, and I have now watched and listened to many dozens of your videos .... it's really inspiring as a fellow pianist (who is not "yet" at your level!) ... but has big aspirations. :-)
Thanks so much again
