I heard Matthew sing this song at a Met Opera Gala from his home...and since then his version is my favorite one.
This version and tenor are perfect for Danny
I can feel the pain and sorrow of the father sending the son off to the battle field knowing well the son may never come home to visit the father's tomb. I am in tears reliving the farewell scene. God bless all good fathers on this Easter.

i was just thinking he clearly knows Mcormack very well. Unfortunatelly he doesnt have the support mccormack and it shows in the repetition he's not on the breath and misses a more fliud legato trying to sing gently.
Did John McCormack ever sing Danny Boy? I thought he hated it and didn’t sing it. I’ve only heard him sing the tune to different lyrics.
