I say do it, but Jody and other guys put a lot of money into it... probably a million+. Now, that's backed up buy popularity of his ytube channel. Mark also has a jewelry store and a lot of money into it. TGV only does design... he is not going into production and repairs be sure of that, and that guy is old money. Try to make something from the parts you can order. Get 5 different parts... like cases, dials, hands and make people on your channel vote for the final look. Then order 50 pieces of that design and sell it. Try to calculate your cost and taxes, and see if it is profitable. Good luck dude.
I think the idea of a micro brand is a normal part of watch modding. I too am relatively new to watch modding, and have toyed with the same idea. I believe there is quite a lot to take into consideration. I would suggest watching Jody at Just One More Watch and his journey to creating his own micro brand. A lot could be learned there. I enjoy your videos for the most part, and would love to see you flourish into something bigger. That is something I'm wanting to do as well. Lol. If you have a burning desire to start an independent brand then just do it. Forget about what we think and who cares how many independent brands already exist. They are not YOU and your ideas and inspirations. Don’t leave a what if in your life to look back on. The worst that can happen is that it isn’t for you. Start off small work your connections and lean on the communities eager support. I got your back on anything you want to peruse my friend and I know for a fact I’m not the only one. No offence taken! That is a very valid question, that I can't give a straight answer for😂Too paranoid of losing an idea to someone who can do it faster. However, I can hint and tippy toe. As I said, I'm not reinventing the wheel. I want to put the "tool" back in tool-watches. All my watches, regardless of design, will have 2 distinct and unique features that will be my brands trade mark. Beyond this I can't say too much yet.
I’ve bought 4 watches so far nice builds great value! Do you remember Hampton watches kraken i forget the guys name who started that company, I have two of those watches well built originally good QC however I played hell getting those watches as he miss managed his company and financial affairs. Could happen to any of us I suppose my point is you make a good watch your a nice enough guy. There’s little to no Mooney 😊in starting a micro brand unless you can put together something no one has such as Matt at Helm I have three of his watches. Something I would like to see is a 6r based titanium gmt with 70hr power reserve a tool watch that wearing like a shogun 300m wr and good regulation. For say 700.00 minimal dial with owl on top and wr on the bottom. Just my thoughts
