    "System of Silence" homily was wonderful, Fr. Dave. Thank you for teaching us the rule for being "kind" vs the rule of being "nice". Let us use our "mute button" when the devil speaks to us, cut him off, silence him. But listen to the Lord, and listen when we need to, even when it is for our own good. Thank you Jess, Diane and Fr. Dave for a beautiful Mass. Happy Birthday to Mary, Our Mother!

    Hi Fr. Dave! Thanks again for your masses. This is a tough gospel. It's hard to correct someone without offending them. That just makes things worse. Correction must be done with humility and genuine concern for the other person, with a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down. It's good to emphasize others' good qualities to help them let go of their bad ones. You don't want to put the other person down per se, but show them that they are better than their negative behaviors. God bless.

    • @kristinekalapos1066
      @kristinekalapos1066 Před rokem +1

      True. It's also important for each of us, when on the other end of this situation and being kindly corrected by another Christian, to listen to what is said and honestly consider whether what we've been doing is wrong. If so, we should then correct our behavior -therefore improving ourselves (asking God for help with this). It can be hard to receive criticism and tempting to take the easy way out by just getting mad at the person who spoke out to us for being "not nice" and not using the help that the comments might have given us. I know that this is something I struggle with at times.

    The truth sets us free…. “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.
    Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
    Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth and the life.”

I went to Mass at my Parish (yes, I am now an official parishioner!), Fr. Tim's Homily was great, but not as personal and direct as yours. I participate in the full Mass that you celebrate, but I often listen to the readings, Gospel and Homily more than once. This is one of those times. I want to encourage people to try to listen to the package of the RGH. It will help you see life in the Bible. Thank You, Thank You again Fr. Dave.

    I also love your mess and I will continue to follow you about the Dave every Sunday and keep in my heart and in my home and speak the truth and not silence anyone🙏🙏❤️ God bless you father Dave, Jess and Diane and all the clergy who helped you with this online Mass.

    Dear Father Dave, I watched your mass last night and afterwards read some of the people's comments, as I often do. One comment I found very upsetting. The person said they have been watching your mass since the pandemic but will no longer be watching because of Catholics changed views of free speech and something to do with the former president. So, they find themself having to choose another faith. I came back now to read it again thinking that I might have misunderstood what they were saying, but it is gone. Father Dave, politics will never change my catholic faith, and everyone is entitled to freedom of speech. Just be nice/kind. I choose to watch your mass because you lift my spirits. Great way to start my week with inspiration.

    due to current events and other issues in my community, I have been questioning my place and purpose. I have had this inner push or almost voice as it gets stronger that I need to act and do something. My mother has been watching you, Father Dave for a long time. this morning your sermon came up in my feed. I have never visited you nor search but yet you popped up. Gods work? My answer to that is yes, nothing is by chance. I shall learn, I have been silent and just shook my head as those around me act in ways that harm others. I shall do my part and call out those that do this. Conflict is tough by I feel that my silence is worse and puts more burden on me as the years progress. God bless you.

What you said about the church, those within our churches, such as priests who do wrong, reminded me of St. Therese writing about one thing she learned; even though Jesus referred to holy priests as 'the salt of the earth', we must pray for them. Yes. Your homily was very powerful. Im no saint, trust me, God knows, but I will always try to be open and honest and speak. Thank you. I do include priests in my prayers. Crazy, yes I am. Lol. Hi Father Dave,
    Thank you for the great homily and the beautiful video of Alaska at the end. I'm glad that your trip seems to have gone well and to have been a refreshing time of rest. I've never been to Alaska, but my brother went to Fairbanks a few years ago. Unfortunately, his vacation wasn't so great because of a bunch of things that went wrong.
    During the first connection on my brother's way to Alaska, something went wrong with the scheduling of his next flight. This left him stuck having to sleep in the airport overnight. Also, because my brother could only afford a pretty brief stay in Fairbanks to begin with, the delay and having to connect later in Nevada (odd considering that he was travelling there from Connecticut!) left him with only one day in Fairbanks.
    I don't remember what month of the year this was, but apparently it was a time during which Fairbanks was supposed to be a snow - covered tundra - like place. My brother had looked forward to seeing something like this for the first time.
    When he arrived in Fairbanks, though, it was in the midst of one of its worst heat waves on record. He said everything was muddy rather than snowy, and as it turned out it was actually colder in his home state of Connecticut that day! The room was so warm that my brother tried to turn on the air conditioner (a little surprised to see that they had these in a Fairbanks hotel) but it didn't work!
    On a brighter note, though, at least on his flight to Nevada my brother ended up on a plane where he got to meet one of his favorite UConn Huskies former basketball players and have a conversation with him. I guess timing and where you head to are important in planning a trip to Alaska!😊
